@zellmerfudd 1. Thanks for the compliment, I am indeed a genius; 2. Oh yes it is a solo. Or a soli rather (a few kazoos). But any instrument playing melody over harmony is definitely a solo; not all solos have to be improvised. So all you've shown me is that you don't even know the rudimentary basics and structure of music. Maybe Unplugged is a bit over your head. Perhaps some music with fewer if any guidelines would suit you. Go on and watch some nice kesha or katy perry videos. Ok? Ok.
This has always been one of my favorite numbers by Eric Clapton. I really appreciate the video because I always suspected they had a hell of a good time doing it. Thank you.
@louswire This video cuts off just before one of the band members says, in a british accent, "Never again," (regarding the chorus of kazoos) and Clapton sniggers loudly.
@bunkhabit I know what you mean... I've had this on VHS, now on DVD... watching this show is like comfort food for the soul.... Kinda like re-reading a book that you really like.
@AceRodstein You bet it dude. Some guys say that he "plays guitar like a decent guitar teacher would, but he's a good buisnessman". Fuk, listen to his version of I shot the sheriff, you'll know why he's brilliant. ; )
@imusthavewhisky It has very funny and interesting sound. And this song is also great. You don't need any skills (except singing) to play that instrument xd
@vixiv614 it's a washboard. sometimes they call it a frottoir, i think, though i'm not sure if there's any difference between the two. it might be they're one and the same.
@RodrigoCFD i think it's a Gibson Hummingbird, though i've never seen that type of bridge on a hummingbird so either it's a customs or i'm completely wrong...
Most famous vberauion: "Kongo Kate" and the Kickin' Kittys, recorded in Amman, Transjordan, June 1960, and later resssued in Cairo on album "Arab Rock Foreverr!@"does any U-Tubers know where this album is?
the pianist is/was the Allman Brothers pianist Chuck Leavell. He joined the Allman Bros to fill in the sound when duane allman died. Chuck is a great session musician..pianist..one of the best in the business...he's toured with the rolling stones and many more great acts. if you like him,do a google search for his band 'SEA LEVEL' late 70's stuff. really kick ass music.
yep, good ol' chuck leavell! effortless playing, just like clapton. everyone was at the top of their game for these shows. thanks for the upload, this puts a smile on my face everyday!
@jannieron chuck leavel (sp?) ...he had a bad ass band in the 70's when he stopped playing for the Allman Bros called SEA LEVEAL ....w half the cats from the allmans....hes a really good singer/song writer as well!
I have to agree. It is an old classic (I don't know how old) but Eric shows how timeless it is. When I was a kid, hearing his rock albums I would never have imagined him doing this tune, but he nails it!
@TheDirrk i do agree this is a bad ass version, but have you checked out HOT TUNA (Jorma Kaukonen-guitar/vocal) does a KICK ASS version of this song on the live at sweetwater cd/dvd. im an east coast kid in my mid 30's but i KNOW there has got to some more kick butt versions out there.and this IS my favorite version (so far)
