  • solo estaba recordando todas las variantes de la Petroff abtes de mover, para estar seguro, jajajajaa. es un genio.

  • Wow, I would've never seen that free pawn at 6:17, beast move.

  • has anand ever disclosed what he was thinking there at the time?

  • they said he has a minute and a half to win the game. actually he can win if his opponent resigns with alot of time on the opponents clock and not to mention the opponent can lose in time. The commentators are so retarded

  • That knight on d5 was a beast.

Also, uncertain players are afraid of the clock; they're not chilling out to meditate on the position in the 4th move.

  • this commentator is amazing, where can i find more of him? makes the game wayy more interesting lol.

  • I never thought it was possible to make chess sound like a basketball game...I was wrong.

  • Maurice Ashley is a fail of a chess cemmentator, he`s even talking over Daniel King who has relevant ideas to share.

  • lol that commentator is in the wrong sport.

  • sigh.. americans.....

  • @temka088 sigh...retards...

  • LOL The one commentator was hillarious - that he called it a queen sacrifice at 6:18 shows he's not very knowledgeable about chess. If other guy recaptures as bjv says it's mate.

About the long 1:43 thinking about one move: perhaps he was doing it partially to psych out his opponent - it certainly didn't make a difference for the actual move he made.

  • @ForumLight not very knowledgeable? He's a grandmaster. I actually think he's doing a great job commenting the game. This is what chess needs. Keep it simple, yet capture the drama on the board. You have to remember that 99% of the target viewers have very little knowledge, so giving long lines in analysis is just pointless because only a very few could follow it. If you want to popularize chess, you can't alienate the spectators.

  • @chessbrainiac Agreed.

  • why does the white one have more time?

  • Lol @ the commentators.

  • @7:05 "..and oh! He fucked that rook!'

  • fantastique !!

  • @ShaxAMV

How do you know? Were you there when someone first said let's play chess?

  • @VictumRoManius He was talking about Maurice Ashley, the commentator. And chess was invented in Pakistan.

  • they need a top down view.... this side view makes it feel like im watching a soccer game played by chess pieces

  • Commentator: "WUUUUUUUUUUHHHHHUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU and he's sacrified his queen, unbelievable sacrifice!!!" ------> FAIL

  • Armaggedon chess(whatever the spelling is) is soooooooo nice i love it :)

  • I know why he took so long. Anand is one of the few top players at this level to have ever lost in SEVEN moves and yes it was a Petroff also - he didn't want to repeat that mistake! That game went e4 e5 nf3 nf6 nxe5 d6 nf3 nxe4 nc3 bf5?? Qe2 , Qe7 Nd5

  • He is BRUTAL, and will beat Gelfands ass =D

  • @ohorok2 Hope he beats Gelfand! But, his form hasnt been good in 2011 for some reason. He himself was saying that in an recent interview.Lets just hope he comes back roaring and give some whopping to him like he gave to Topalov.

  • Anand won this game solely on tactical prowess.

  • @eggkunt and you have no idea what you're talking about, because for your information he is a GM called Maurice Ashley who i'm sure would beat the living shit out of your racist ass, so think it twice before calling someone a nigger, you stupid frightened man

  • @eggkunt Don't talk so ignorantly. You have no respect. Their are studies linking low IQ and low education with racism an dbeleiving in stereotype. :I can't help but agree that the more you learn in life (not just relying on whatever personal exerpience you have in life) the more open of a person you'll become. I hope you do that some day.

  • @jilow whatever nigger lover, dont make up "studies" without proof dumbass nigger

  • @eggkunt Sure I love blacks as much as whites, how's that an insult? Believe what you want, but i can tell you right now more than likely your parents were racist probably some of your friends are racist just because that's how things work. You just copy what you're taught. I hope you take the time to think for yourself one day. And you''ll realize there is nothing so special about color. People are people.. it's how they're raised.

  • @eggkunt He's a GM. his name is Maurice Ashley, and he intends to make it understandable for very wide audiance which includes sub patzers (1400- elo fide players)

  • @eggkunt A imbecile RACIST ! FKU idiot and retarded NAZI. you are a stupid with such a thought today.. At least ur mom think diferent of you . She love the BIG niggers :P hahahahah

  • @davidnegreira fail: Godwin's Law

  • @eggkunt Indian "Niggers" invented chess you dumbass. Vissy is an Indian to.

Persian "niggers" further developed chess into modern form.

Now gtfo out here. Chess is a sport for the reasonable... Not little insecure cunts like you.

  • @VictumRoManius no big deal. commentators are fine. what's wrong with alittle excitement

  • @slumberr329roper Sorry, but my comment was aimed against another troll in the comment field, not against the commentators in the video.

  • Come on make a move :D

  • vishy mindfucked smirin :D

  • @TheRahul013 Don't get why your question is marked as spam.

I think after f3 Black plays Kh8 and then if fxe4 Black has Nxe3 and is attacking the rook on f1 and the bishop on c4.

  • The word "sacrifice" is used way to many times

  • great game

  • to be fair to the commentators, it was a bit fast and they just didn't see that if the queen is taken then its checkmate.... great game!

  • @wingdudeman IF you believe that you have no idea. Of course they saw that instantly, but they are not commenting for a bunch of grandmasters only, but for people with very little to no knowledge. Then they have to keep it very simple, yet focus on the drama on the board.

  • maybe vishy was trolling

  • Interesting. I'm new to Chess (as an adult- so don't expect me in the world championships :p), and this is the first time I've gotten to see that Chess- speed Chess anyway- can be watched and given commentary just like a physical sporting event. That's pretty cool :)

  • OOOH! HE SACRIFICED DA QUEEN

  • Comment removed

  • @CerebralAssassin1983 white gets a minute more but black only needs a draw to win

  • @CerebralAssassin1983 dude they said it in the beginning of the video its like the first thing they said

  • @CerebralAssassin1983 hahah! they say that in the beginning:S:S Why didn't you hear that?

  • 4:13 PENIS!

  • the mark of a true genius

  • He was wondering whether he had put deodorant on that morning. He was trying to retrace all of his actions in the morning and picture the exact moment when he got out of the shower to determine whether he immediately put a shirt on or remembered to first apply deodorant.

    I've been there.

  • Oh man, very exciting game. Love how they just keep "sacrificing" knowing they will win a piece back within a few moves. Amazing!

  • garry resigned

  • @gnaneshmelur it is smirin not garry

  • opponent resigned

  • Wow I enjoyed this so much, I couldn't stop laughing, the commentators are hilarious!! So many great quotes, the more you know about chess the funnier it is.

  • @analyticannoyance u sure you don't mean 'less'? haha. ok it is funny, but it is also sad in another way. I guess for some weird ridiculous reason, the majority of people who watch chess have never played one game of it their entire life, and are about as stupid as a computer that can only analyze 1 move in advance.

  • anand one of the best players of all the time bravoooo

  • simply..AWESOME! thanks for the vid!

  • whats up with the commentator?? this is not a football or basketball game "sacrificing the queen" come on!!! its mate on f1!!! thats not a sacrifice!!

  • @bjvandipohvak If white had taken the queen then he would have accepted the sacrifice. The queen could have been taken by a pawn...sounds like a sacrifice to me. It just wasn't accepted.

  • @bjvandipohvak that's why it is a sacrifice otherwise it would be just stupid!

  • @bjvandipohvak they are making the game fun for noobs like me hah

  • @bjvandipohvak LMAO!!!! ur comment is all the more hilarious!!!

  • @bjvandipohvak Haha! Your comment made me burst out laughing. You're right - this guy is a farce.

  • @bjvandipohvak Saying that he sacrificed the queen is still correct. He sacrificed up his queen and if his opponent got greedy then he would win with a mate. Whether or not he would've won with a mate at f1 is irrelevant to the fact that it's still technically a sacrifice.

  • @asceventura there are two kinds of sacrifices "real and sham" and this its a sham sacrifice, read about it in Rudolf Spielmann's articles

  • @bjvandipohvak I know it's a sham sacrifice. I never said it wasn't. Regardless if it is a real or a sham, it's still technically a sacrifice..

  • 4:25 "it seems as if he thought he was going to win this knight" LMAO. Tell me, what's better, that, or 6:18 where "Anand sacrifices his queen!!!!". I guess with only 3 minutes on the clock, Smirin had no time to realize his pawn was attacking the queen. How on earth could this commentary POSSIBLY be benficial to any chess player in the entire world. I do wonder if it is a joke though. If its just a joke then well done is all I can say, cuz its quite amusing.

  • @Vball2718 He knew the pawn was attacking the queen but it was not a true sacrifice in that if the pawn took the queen it would have been checkmate next move.

  • @varishnakov please tell me that you are joking. have you ever heard or sarcasm?

  • Comment removed

  • superb combination!

  • Where do you get all these videos? They are absolutley amazing! Thanks for Sharing!! :)

  • wow! never seen anything like this:)

  • Holy fuck, did anyone catch those tactics after Anand captured the bishop with his rook? Like 5 or 6 moves in a row that not any mortal could see that fast. He's a beast.

  • Anand thought so much because he once played a huge blunder on the same opening and lost almost instantly that game. Go check "greatest GM blunders anand"

  • im kinda new to chess, so how did he win?

  • @mralex2496 His opponent resigned because the win was inevitable given the reduced material and the simple plan necessary for him to win.

  • @TexasRobert1 thanks! :D

  • @mralex2496 white resigned

  • annand the genius

  • I dont agree :) I prefer the calm European style (and Daniel in general!) over the ever hysterical American one...

  • After Bd4, Nxc3 wins the house, surely. Picking up the d4 bishop with monstrous centralization afterward.

  • "He makes a minute look like a year" LOL

  • Anand giving up time to make things more even :)

  • the commentary is incredible

  • hey check out my chess

  • I like to believe he planned the entire game in that 1:43 ;)

  • @ajzaf Highly plausible..in fact top class GMs like Vishy are known to do that in classic long games. But,in blitz, I think this is the 1st time I have ever seen someone take so much time for a single move and then win the game emphatically.

  • OMG, A minute and 30 seconds, OMG!

  • Ashley Maurice's voice sounds like a man's

  • este juego es el mejor que he visto en mi vidaa! anand es un puto genioo!

  • what a game

  • @tonyfalca why arent there more uploads like this online, of live games of course? theres that extra dynamic thats just plain sexylol

  • I don't understand what they mean when they say Anand sacrificed his queen, because he didn't...

  • @FanjitaTowels They are grandmaster announcers. Think about it.

  • @sotovo I've thought about, but I still don't get it lol.

  • @FanjitaTowels No worries. Anand offered his queen as a sacrifice. Of course the "gift" can't be accepted without losing the game.

A grandmaster announcer is aware of this distinction. They are just keeping the game exciting for the layman by letting them know the queen is en pris.

  • @sotovo Well I guess it makes sense to try and make as much excitement as possible for a chess game as a commentator, got'cha :)

  • @sotovo yes of course he is aware of the distinction but he shouldnt say "he sacrificed his queen" because its not a queen sac haha. also, an exchange sacrifice is not leaving pieces en pris, if he is intending to inform the layman then he should say, "he took the pawn and Smirin cant recapture because anand would be able to take his rook and checkmate on the back row." listen at 6:23 he could really do better than "unbelievable sacrifice" hahaha.

  • their commentating is so good.

  • what a nice game isn't it?

  • at 6:18 uuuuhhhhhhh and sacrificed his queen hahahahah....nope the pawn is pinned

  • Brilliant ! Must See for all Chess and Anand fans!

  • Anand owns Smirin and the commentators. looks like he knew what he was doing all along.

  • I loved the commentating. I've got to favorite this just for the commentary.

  • I loved the commentating.

  • I figured it out, Anan knew he would win in speed, so he intentionally took 2 min to think on 4th move, giving his opponent a false sense of security.

  • holy shit that is some freakin chess!! Anand really showed his prowess as a chess player! i couldnt even keep up watching this.

  • "and he thumped that rook down with authority"

    The commentator is awesome!

  • He was probably just thinking about getting a hooker later that night in his hotel.

  • he made a mustake he said annand was spending a minute thinking = 60 seconds and he had 4 minutes so a rule of 3 100 percent = 4m x 1m doing this 1x100=100 / 4= 25 percent this means annad spended a quarter of his time 25 percent not 20 percent as the comentator said (20 percent will be another way is 25=1minute

then 20 percent =x and it will be 20x1=20/25= 0,8 so

the comentator siad Annand was spending 20 percent of four minutes = 0,8

  • @nicoeste8765 he had 5 minutes

  • he made a mustake he said annand was spending a minute thinking = 60 seconds and he had 4 minutes so a rule of 3 100 percent = 4m x 1m doing this 1x100=100 / 4= 25 percent this means annad spended a quarter of his time 25 percent not 20 percent as the comentator said (20 percent will be another way is 25=1minute

then 20 percent =x and it will be 20x1=20/25= 0,8 so

the comentator siad Annand was spending 20 percent of four minutes = 0,8 seconds i would say HOW FAST!

  • maurice ashley is the best commentator

  • Anand is simply amazing! What a champion! Maurice Ashley is the right guy to commentate on chess games. Others put be to sleep. I mean c'mon, chess is already a boring game to the public. Spice it p a bit! Fantastic commentating, as usual, from Maurice!

  • lol liked and favorite-ed :D

  • i love watching these videos!!!! keep it up! :) :)

  • Anand simply used the time trick against his opponent, and effectively, Smirin got so impatient that he took lousy risks like trading three pawns for a piece too early in the game. These guys do these kinds of tricks all the time. This trick is most compared to dieting. When you lose weight, you gain it right back. And Smirin gain the weight right back with his impatience.

  • 6:14 the black was not about to sacrifice his queen (like the commentator said) cos if the white took the black's queen, then rook would took white's rook and it would be checkmate for the white

  • That 1.43 was for Anand to plan the entire game and win. He knew how to win after the fourth move!! A true champion.

  • This Anand has been around for a while. It's 2011 and he's still #2 !

  • @saintsaens21 He's the world champion!

  • This has gotto be one of the most amazing game of chess I have ever seen and the commentary was awesome!

  • i cant believe he was thinking so deeply. nerves must have got to him at the big moment

  • Ja pierdolę, co ja oglądam w wakacje...

  • wow never seen such video...upload more guys.thanks a lot.

  • best commentating ive ever heard

  • I know this might sound dumb, I don't play chess often, but WHO WON? and HOW? I couldn't see a checkmate anywhere o.O

  • @Tilan123 In tournament chess, you can lose by checkmate, by using up all your time, or by resigning when it is clear your position is hopeless. Grandmasters very rarely play on to checkmate. Anand won when Smirin resigned.

  • @Crabitat Oh wow, cheers for that mate. It looked like the other guy was smashing Anand :S

  • @Tilan123 Just as crabitat said, grandmasters usually resign before checkmate (because it is inevitable).

  • 1:43 minutes planing mate in 46

  • Very interesting, I have never seen chess covered on TV. What year is this?

  • @MoPar7055 1994

  • @MoPar7055 they used to show it on espn 2 a lot. they also showed domino championships but i haven't seen that in about 6 year /:

  • I agree with those who say that the commentators are a little too much, for exemple, he's not sacrificing his queen at all, white can't take, that's obvious for a gm. anyway, great game, still fun to watch!

  • Wow, what a great game. Do you think Vishy's 4th move wait was a ploy?

  • shut up dude! let the champion play.

  • So it takes that long for a GM to look at a whole game.. wow.

  • Maurice Ashley and Daniel King makes Chess more appealing for the crowd with their lively commentary...hats off.

  • both commentator's are gm!

  • spending 1.43 minute in a blitzgame... LIKE A BOSS

  • Anand remembered the time he lost in 6 moves in the very same opening (look up Zapata-Anand 1988 at chessgames and laugh your butt off)

  • @surfsoccer11 Which explains why he is a GrandMaster

  • @moviecritic6

but he sounds like an absolute moron

  • @poolplayer999 At least makes it a little more interesting to non chess enthusiasts

  • @Fredobei51 at 4:22 Rc1 defends the pawn on c3.

  • Vishy is best player with black

PS: It was not fair he gives only one minute advantage to the opponent =D

  • @ohorok2 nor would it be if he gave him 4 minutes

  • Anand is the only palyer in the world that plays a blitz game, and it looks like he spend 10 hours thinking! great footage, thanx for the upload!!!

    Vishi rules!!!!

  • @6:19 Anand clearly put his queen in danger, why didn't smirin take his queen??

  • @ksri66 if smirin takes the queen, it would open the f file for anand's rook to capture on f1 which is checkmate.

  • @ChessNoir Thanx, I noticed just after posting it!

the initial reaction was basically because of over-reacting comments from commentators... They were like "aww... Anand what have you done..." But seriously seems like those commentators were like novice players....

  • @ChessNoir what about Kg2

  • @BozVar26 Kg2 when?

  • i dint get the reason for resigning here -- anand was running short of time...

  • @kiranyoutubification smirin resigned because there was no way of protecting his last 2 pawns from being taken. If he doesn't exchange rooks, anand could just move his rook to g3 and it's bye-bye pawns. anand can then queen both his connected passed pawns and easily win the game.

  • @kiranyoutubification He is profesional, he can make 40-50 moves in one minute with simple ending like this.

  • why did they stop playing even before the game ended ??
