  • The good ole' days

  • Historians will also stress the gap between Reagan's domestic goals and his accomplishments. Most obvious is the deficit; what he promised to eliminate he has allowed to swell beyond comprehension.

  • @phoenixbornagain That is true, but the historians will neglect to tell you WHY the deficit grew under Reagan. You see, Carter left our military in a shambles HUGE %'s of our equipment sat useless because we lacked parts for them, our military men were living in substandard housing and had VERY low wages. Also, of the 10 army divisions designated to protect the Continental U.S. - 6 were rated as NOT COMBAT READY, and of the 4 remaining, 3 were rated as ready, but with SEVERE deficiencies.

  • @phoenixbornagain This was not a time when we could afford to let our guard down either. The Soviet Union was at it's very PEAK of power and influence worldwide. Yes, the deficit DID go up under Reagan, but it is more the result of Carter's neglect than Reagan.

  • @ToddAldrich True

  • @ToddAldrich Yes, the deficit DID go up under Obama, but it is more the result of Bush's neglect than Obama. So if you not going to put the BLAME on Reagan you can't put the Blame on Obama .Do you agree?I know it a different time period..

  • @love5231978 No I don't agree. Obama is giving money away to his cronies - and using taxpayer money to buy votes. He also used that money to destroy the economy even further. Reagan re-built the military and destroyed the soviet union, and actually turned the economy around.

  • But history will remember Reagan as the first Cold War president to preside over eight years of unbroken peace, the first to reach an arms reduction accord with the Soviets, and the American president who helped make it possible for Mikhail Gorbachev to begin the process of restructuring Soviet society.

God bless the best president of the last 100 years, Ronald Reagan

  • His rhetoric was bellicose in the extreme, as "evil empire" replaced detente. When martial law descended on Poland, Reagan tried to organize an economic blockade of the Soviet Union.

On the military front, he launched the greatest arms race in history, topped by the single most expensive weapons system ever undertaken.

  • A funny thing happened to Ronald Reagan on the way to his place in history. At the three-quarter point, he made a sharp left turn, then another, and ended his journey going in the opposite direction from his start. Initially, he was headed towards the title of the toughest Cold War president of all. And that he ended the cold war aloe shows he was more president then obuma could ever hope to be

  • How will President Reagan be most remembered? How, if at all, has he changed American politics and government? Has he been one of America's great presidents? Has he been a conservative president? To what other presidencies might the Reagan administration be compared? These questions were put to seven leading political historians and presidential biographers. God bless the last real president Ronald Reagan

  • During the summer of 1981 the central focus of policy debate was on the Economic Recovery Tax Act (ERTA) of 1981, the Reagan tax cuts. The core of this proposal was a version of the Kemp-Roth bill providing a 25 percent across-the-board cut in personal marginal tax rates. God bless our last real american president Ronald Reagan

  • @jcastano

My guess would be that, by "1984" you are referring to the novel by George Orwell. If that is the case, than this is one of the very few sensible things that I have read on any of these campaign videos! Most posters act as if there one motive in life is to express hostility towards each other! Oh brother!

  • "Americans are working again & so is America!" Doesn't make any sense! "America" obviously INCLUDES "the Americans" (i.e. the people/citizens) All he had to say was "America is working again!"

The train actually derailed back in the 1980's! It was actually the "Debt Express!"

  • Reagan wasnt that great!! big budget deficits, Jobs started to go oversea's, and then Iran Contra!! If you were middle class this was the beginning of the end!!

  • 1980s a Golden Age in American History!!! Thank You Mr. President!!!!!!

  • A failed presidency who brought disgrace to America. I don't miss this bastard.

  • This was in Ohio in Oct 1984, after Reagan lost the debate to Mondale.

  • This was in Ohio in Oct 1984

  • LOL....

  • Fuck Obamunism

  • Hope is only hope if it can be backed up by solid, proven, economic theory. Every economist the past 300 years except Karl Marx would advise against all of Obama's economic policies.

  • Ummm... except all the economists that work for his administration? Or how about John Keynes to cite a famous example... Wasn't it Nixon who proclaimed "we're all Keynesians now?"

Or does your political awareness exist in a vacuum

  • I take back what I said. A lot of economists would support Obama's theory because a lot of economists have faulty theories, like Keynes's. I just decided I don't like Nixon because he said that. An economist is just someone who never had a real job making money, so how could they possibly set policy about making money?

I can only think of 2 people's views on the economy that make total sense: Adam Smith and Ronald Reagan

FDR, Keynes, Obama, Nixon, Karl Marx are all wrong

  • Makes me so nostalgic it literally gives me chills ;) Wonder if people would make that kind of effort to turn out today for a President- leaving work early lining up in droves along the train tracks....magical : )

  • This is called propaganda... don't take it seriously.

Oh and for the record.. YES.

  • 44th ROCKS!

  • Reagan made Americans feel proud to be Americans!!! God we need a new Reagan to defeat Obama Carter.

  • I LOVE YOU REAGAN!

  • "The moral is as to the physical as 3 to 1" - Napoleon Bonaparte

Napoleon was acknowledging the importance of MORALE to success and victory.

I lived through the hell of the 70s; we NEEDED the morale boost he gave us more than we needed anything else. And it worked, until we got Bush, and the liberal agenda was back on track. But we had 8 wonderful years of being America again.

  • Say what you want about Reagan. His 84 campaing was masterclass.

  • I know. That idiot Tip O'Neil and the Democrat party would not cut spending. Thanks Tip.

  • Yeah, and people had JOBS.

And Obama is building a deficit that exceeds Reagan's debt.

  • Back it up a few years. The hedonistic crap started in the late 70's - remember disco and all the drug use associated with it? - under the watch of the worthless Jimmy Carter. Reagan cleaned up Carter's mess and built the country stronger after Carter pissed it away. Re-read history. You missed something.

  • For the first time in my adult life, I'm proud to be an American. Oh wait, this was in the 80's. Who's the pres today??? I don't feel proud anymore.

  • Because spending more in his first six months than any other president ever in their entire term is good economic policy.

  • @gaudog - So... you're only proud of your country when your guy's in charge? Pathetic.

  • @kchauncey Dear moron, we are proud of Pres Reagan because he speeded up the death of evil communism without hardly any bloodshed, greatly lowered inflation, dared to mention GOD & the Bible, encouraged freedom thru out the world & many many more great things.

Unfortunately, he didn't cut down the size of the monster gov nor attacked the sluts & perverts from Hollywood, but in light of the other things, he was a great president. That's why he is the MOST popular President ever! In JESUS' name

  • @ProphetLuong - Dear Comrade, your faith in communism is touching. However, the Soviet system didn't work, and was doomed to fail. It was already collapsing by the early 1970s. For Reagan to take credit for the collapse of communism is like taking credit for the sun rising in the morning.

As to encouraging freedom in the world: Reagan encouraged the fascist Contras and sold weapons to Iran. How does that encourage freedom? Yeesh.

Reagan was just another Hollywood airhead. Good riddance.

  • @kchauncey Please lay off those drugs you're taking because I hate communism. Reread what I wrote: I didn't say Pres Reagan destroyed communism all by himself. I said he SPEEDED UP its demise. Of course communism & socialism don't work. They are failed systems. What the great Pres Reagan did was to SPEED UP its death by arming the freedom fighters in Afghanistan, helping the Polish Solidarity, fooling the Soviets to overspend on their military. Would any idiotic Demon-Rats do that? No!

  • @ProphetLuong - Freedom fighters in Afghanistan? Is that what you call the Taliban? You've got to get your priorities straight. The Taliban isn't exactly what I'd call a "pro-freedom" group. Reagan didn't accomplish much of anything regarding the collapse of the Soviet Union--it was already on its way down. By the time Gorbachev took power, they were already aware of it. Remember glasnost? A responsible president would have guided the USSR's collapse, if he could have done anything.

  • @kchauncey News flash: TheTaliban were NOT around when Pres Reagan was in office so your first point is totally wrong.

Regarding communism's demise. Please reread what I wrote below. Either you're too lazy or not intelligent enough to understand (no offense), but my last post said it perfectly. Thanks.

  • @ProphetLuong That is an exellent post. Thank you

  • We miss you Ronnie!

  • Chessie System GP40-2 B&O 4444 lead the train with Amtrak F40PH's 300 and 200 trailing.

  • F40PH 300 was scrapped 200 is now a glorified baggage car 90200. Can you tell me where you got your information that the units were indeed 300 and 200

  • REAGAN NOW!!!

  • Go President Reagan!

  • Ronald Reagan: simply a great President.

  • If Reagan is an Anti-Amtrak and Anti-Rail, then why is he on a train himself? Remember, there was at least ONE Republican president who did well, and hopefully, we can have more Reagans, as he did help the US prosper! Democrats just raise taxes and the cost of living which leads to people buying less, then the less consumers, the more the economy suffers, the more the economy suffers, the quicker a depression grows. Help prevent a depression, vote republican in 2012(as long as they are moderate)

  • I bet it wasn't an Amtrak train

  • @IandMVirtualMotive - Trains are good visuals. Republicans are anti-mass transit. Reagan appearing on a train is what's called "hypocrisy."

  • Who cares about Ronald Reagan did you see that Chessey unit and those F40's :D

  • that's a joke ;D but those units show up everywhere.

  • y lol this video kind of made me horny o

  • I want Reagan not Obama!

Obama SUPPORTS The US Paying a "Global Tax"

    Obama OPPOSES Traditional Marriage

    Obama SUPPORTS Partial-Birth Abortion

Obama OPPOSES Domestic Oil Production (or did he just flip to McCain's position on that?)

Obama SUPPORTS Doubling the Capital Gains Tax

It's ALL true...research it...or see for yourself at DiscoverObama DOT com

  • I got a question: would you call inter-raical marriage traditional?

  • traditional marriage is a catch phase for meaning 1 man and 1 woman marriage.

inter-racial refers to who is being married...not the definition of what marriage is.

i am trying to understand your question...please elaborate?

  • I was talking about a man marrying a woman of a different race.

  • So sporting same sex marriage means he "OPPOSES Traditional Marriage"? If two people of the same sex want to get married that is none of your $(%*ing business.

  • President Reagan was similar to his hero FDR in that they both possessed the rare ability to inspire hope and assurance to the American people.

  • Clinton was the worse president,he changed America for the worst. Our culture did a 180% turn around from a family oriented culture to the pop/hip hop culture today. We went from being a healthy nation to a fat lazy nation.

Clinton may have created more jobs then Regan but also created a lazy & spoiled youth. He also destroyed rural America and allowed America to decay. He pampered to the nigger vote sucking their dick. Now we have today nothing but nigger culture of losers.

  • I disagree. I think Jimmy Carter was the worst president.

  • From your grammar to the content of your reply speaks volume about what kind of ignorant instigator you are. No president can be responsible for the culture of an entire generation. Clinton pandered to several demographics like any other politician. It just so happens that Reagan and Bush 41 weren't trusted by minorities and rightfully so.

  • Massive debt, the slashing of domestic programs, and the tax cuts for the wealthy ensured that the Republicans couldn't capture anything but the fringe of minority support. Instead of racial slurs and erroneous generalizations, you should crack a book and get your mind out of the gutter.

  • Let me ask then: Why do minorities want something different than the rest of the country? Where's the REAL problem here? I know this was from 2 months ago but still.

  • unfortunately Reagan didnt gut domestic programs. If you want to see massive debt, wait till we have prez Obamalamdingdong

  • I am a fiscal conservative (and sick of the Bush and Obama, repub and democrat, spending spree). I have to disagree about Clinton, he did pretty well. True family and individual values are in the tank, but that is more due to Hollywood and entertainment. There are NO good role models in those industries. Just money whores.

Clinton and the GOP congress did well economically, balancing budgets and surplueses. Where is Newt Gingrich when you need him. New Contract with America would help.

  • I'm sick of the Bushes. George Bush senior immediately raised taxes and George W. Bush just acted like an uneducated redneck

  • Reagan's "accomplishments" are anything but. It was a distraction from the real problems going on. What did he do to expand environmental protection? Zilch. He'd rather corporations be allowed to dump in our rivers and pollute our air even further. Reagan did save SS but only temporarily. And of course, he RAISED payroll taxes, despite Republican calls all the time for cutting and saying every time taxes are raised, it's disastrous. Reagan was NOT the man Republicans claim.

  • So because he didn't meet your liberal (nearly pyschotic) agenda, he is a failure, eh? It's that very reason that so many consider him such a success. He unwound so much government waste and restored pride.

Government is the least efficient way to disperse money. For every dollar they take from us in taxes, by the time the IRS collection and other departments are paid, we're lucky to get 50 cents paid out on every dollar collected. Thats why government needs to be small, its inefficient

  • What did Reagan do to expand and keep workers' rights? Nothing. What did he do when outsourcing started to take hold in major cities? Nothing. What did he do to help the lower classes rise above poverty? Nothing. His idiotic "solution" was to CUT gov't, esp. services. He wanted to deregulate and give more power to the few who run corporate America. He listened to that moron Milton Friedman. And it was disastrous. He did nothing to give us health care reform. He didn't "fix" education.

  • If you want to help the poor, you cut government. You might think its wrong, but all through history, they more government spends on the poor and downtrodden, the more poor and downtrodden grows.

MOST folks that are poor are poor because they made choices that led to that state. Some work their tails off, yes, but MOST don't. Its called laziness and I don't think a single penny should come from those that work hard, unless its through their own charity, not government ripping it from us.

  • Small, minor changes in the overall scheme of things are looked upon by Americans in that day and age as "great progress?" What about his malfeasance? What about Iran-Contra? Did his supporters just brush that aside and actually believe he had nothing to do with it, as if he, being commander-in-chief, could've possibly let something like this go on for so long without having any knowledge? Oh, please! The president meets with the NSC quite regularly.

  • May God bless and save Ronald Reagan; had the honor of serving under him when he was our President; also attended his funeral services in 2004 in DC; quite awesome; 5000 visitors PER hour pour into the Capitol Rotunda to pay their respects to this great man; I waited 2 hours myself in line, but it was worth it! He will be sorely missed....RIP

  • I was way too young to remember this great man but still looking at this commercial makes me feel good. RIP Reagan you were light in our souls.

  • I was born in 1979 and I can tell you that in my almost 3 decades alive, even as a young child I knew that the 1980s was an incredibly special time. I went to see President Reagan land on Air Force One in Hawaii. The one thing about the 80s that stands out is we weren't ashamed to live, to dream, and to be Americans. I'm looking forward to the day that we can restore America's soul again and say once more, "we'll go on unashamed, unafraid, and unsurpassed."

  • Hilarious! LOL! I love it. Thanks for this vid!

  • The danger of free speech in cyberspace crossing over to become language that perpetuates hatred and provokes violence is a very real threat. This threat manifests itself in two primary forms. First, young Internet users who may be easily influenced are exposed to hate-filled ideals and values, often without any regulation or guidance.

  • 5 And I saw in the right hand of the One seated upon the throne a scroll written within and on the reverse side, sealed tight with seven seals. 2 And I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice: "Who is worthy to open the scroll and loose its seals?"

  • 10 the twenty-four elders fall down before the One seated upon the throne and worship the One that lives forever and ever, and they cast their crowns before the throne, saying: 11 "You are worthy, Jehovah, even our God, to receive the glory and the honor and the power, because you created all things, and because of your will they existed and were created."

  • I am seeking a lawyer surfing YouTube who is willing to help bring a law suit against them. The basis for this is cyberspace versus real space personal conduct. If you are in a restaurant or sporting auditorium that facility is responsible for controlling conduct while in operation. YouTube does not conduct this practice but instead performs what it feels is a proprietary umbrella of ownership instead of the laws set forth under the FCC

  • 8 And as for the four living creatures, each one of them respectively has six wings; round about and underneath they are full of eyes. And they have no rest day and night as they say: "Holy, holy, holy is Jehovah God, the Almighty, who was and who is and who is coming."9 And whenever the living creatures offer glory and honor and thanksgiving to the one seated upon the throne, the one that lives forever and ever,

  • And in the midst of the throne and around the throne [there are] four living creatures that are full of eyes in front and behind. 7 And the first living creature is like a lion, and the second living creature is like a young bull, and the third living creature has a face like a man's, and the fourth living creature is like a flying eagle.

  • 5 And out of the throne there are proceeding lightnings and voices and thunders; and [there are] seven lamps of fire burning before the throne, and these mean the seven spirits of God. 6 And before the throne there is, as it were, a glassy sea like crystal.

  • 3 And the one seated is, in appearance, like a jasper stone and a precious red-colored stone, and round about the throne [there is] a rainbow like an emerald in appearance.4 And round about the throne [there are] twenty-four thrones, and upon these thrones [I saw] seated twenty-four elders dressed in white outer garments, and upon their heads golden crowns.

  • unfortunately an unhealthy proportion of those jobs were created within the military industrial complex. This linked America's prosperity to the waging of wars. Today, cuts to the military budget alone can cause recession. We are at war out of economic necessity, and on the brink of a credit crisis because of the deficit spending of Reagan and his successors. He was successful in killing the new deal, but we aren't better off.

  • His best quotes are in his farewll address (also here on youtube) -

    As governmet expands, liberty contracts.

Man is not free unless government is limited.

    Awesome!!

  • please read above

  • In order to get the democrats (they controlled congress and the budget) to go along with his defense spending buildup he had to make a lot of deals to let them have their pork barrell projects. This ran up deficits and made it much worse than it would have been.

  • Damn, Reagan could make an ad! ;)

Now all we get is negative, negative, negative.

  • LOL Iran contra. YOU SEE MORE SHOTS OF THE F40PH's THEN YOU DO OF REAGAN. Thoes locomotives were a big part of american history. I wonder how Reagen would feel about thoes f40ph's being scraped and it's parts being used on Soviet Built Locomotives?

  • John Kerry did the same thing he had his Kerry Edwards logo on the side of the P42 pulling the train It looks like Reagen had some F40PHs on his train who says motive power dosen't count

  • This train ran 10/12/84 on the Chessie?B&O Toledo Division between Dayton and Toledo. The first scene is viewed from the I-75 overpass at MP 88. It is also viewed passing through Troy OH, and there is also a view of it passing the 20,000 crowd at Sidney OH.

  • Ed Rollins has the idea of doing his after Reagan did poorly in the first debate with Mondull

  • Clinton also more than doubled funding for the Earned Income Tax Credit, which is a form of welfare, because most of the people that recieve it don't pay income tax. So Clinton actually expanded the welfare state, contrary to popular belief.

  • Clinton didn't reform welfare. He did get rid of the Aid to Families and Dependent Children program, but he immediately replaced it with TANF, the Temporary Assistance to Needy Families program.

  • Reagan was not the ideal, but he was the best president America had in the 20th century. Watch JTF videos on youtube and visit JTF dot ORG to save America and Israel!

  • Ronnie caved in to the Moslem threat for 8 years on all fronts except the Libyan.

He yellowed out vs Iran, Syria and in Lebanon.

  • :12-:13- The Little girl touches that flag to the ground.

  • i heard that nancy was the first First-Lady to get a brazillian. rumor is it, she had a nice little landing strip down there. thats why they named that airport in d.c. after him.

  • Yes, everything that's happened is direclty attributable to Reagan. I guess that means the booming '90s were entirely attributed to Reagan, also.

  • Actually the 1990s boom was Reagans legacy. Clinton didnt repeal Reaganomics, instead he signed a tax cut for investors in 1997 and welfare reform in 1996. So yes, the 1990s boom was partially Reagan's doing.

  • The 1980s were not that bad. Reagan was definitely not an A+ president, but he wasn't as bad as you make him out to be.

  • Yeah, the 80's were a great time alright.

A great time that led to 60% or more of the foreign policy and economic problems the United States faces today. Thanks a lot for that, Reagan.

  • I can't believe they actually do this type of stuff in America

  • I remeber this ad. What a great time the 80's were.

  • Greatest President Ever. God Bless, Ronald Reagan!

  • Yeah, if you were an arms dealer or into coke. Give me a break.

  • Can you please explain what this is supposed to mean?

  • Yeah, because Reagan was sneaking into people's houses, and getting them addicted to coke against their will. Go f**ck yourself.

  • Wow. How friendly. While you were busy sucking on your pacifier, Reagan, as president, negotiated the arms for hostages deal with Iran. Later, the CIA was trafficking drugs, to get more arms to rebels in Central America so they could overthrow the government of Nicaragua. Crack is Reagan's lasting legacy.

  • Freedom and Prosperity is Reagan's legacy
