I think David did this to show how much he hates when people approach him in public. Look at his face when he does his trick, he is SO annoyed with JD right then. Makes sense, it's like a comedian who's forced to tell people jokes over and over, or is constantly told unfunny jokes by others. Nobody wants their job to follow them around all the time, not even magicians.
