  • yo qb the update files only has a 1mb file under pudding

  • @cocoman135 Just use that one. that one works

  • Hi I'm new to all of this bootloader and rooting stuff but can follow your directions. My question is, I have a photon and want to leave sprint and go to a cheaper company like airfire and keep this phone. They said I need to have it unlocked so I can use it with a different company. Will the steps in this video help me do what I need to do? Thanks.

  • CAN I ROOT AGAIN MY PHOTON?

I AM ROOTED BUT I DON'T KNOW IF I CAN DO AGAIN

  • @sorullo199 yes you can

  • Comment removed

  • I have seen your videos, for four months I rooted my cell in October

  • @sorullo199 go into stock recovery and do a factory reset then

  • I followed step by step, your video

  • I DID IT

    MY PHOTON IS ROOTED

  • so, sorry, my English is very bad of, any, way, thank you very much, QBKING77

  • can you help me? was working and listened to music on my photon I wanted to update the firmware press yes, but I turned off my photon, so I turn, but the phone is turned off on the screen, there are letters and say 2 failed to boot starting mode rsd think you can help me?

  • @sorullo199 hmmmm.... follow my video on "how to unroot the motorola photon 4g"

  • will this unlock my phone from sprint?

  • @MrYds555 no it will unlock the bootloader so you can install a custom recovery

  • Im gonna try your video again

  • Ok Qb...im gonna try it again today

  • this is the pudding file im getting ...derpunlock.sbf,,,

  • @johnson9203 that file works.. just use that one

  • when i plugged my phone in ,,it didnt install device

  • following this video but my device is not found

  • Will this work for electrify 2.3.5?

  • @awymanrootbeer I dont think so.. i think the electrify's update blocked this. not positive though

  • @qbking77 Ahh seriously? I want that phone but that's keeping me from getting it.. that damn bootloader.

  • @awymanrootbeer I could be wrong though... I'm not too familiar with the electrify

  • You are the man qbking, thanks for all the vids you have out there.

  • I am getting a error when typing in moto-fastboot oem unlock.

    INFOOEM unlock is not implemented

    Help Me please!

  • Ok I have a rooted Electrify why can I not unlock the bootloader I tried many options and whenever I go to CMD I must be typing something wrong I get not recgonized and an external or internal command. I know it is something very simple. Someone please give me detailed steps, why is there only a few sites on how to do this and links are broken. Once I figure this out I will make a vid.

  • @qbking77 @ssdw79 Yeah Im having the same problem. If you figure it out please let us know.

  • QBKING, as you know the links are broken. I have tried the other links but cant seem to get the unlock sbf file. I see where in the video it says to use the .sbf under pudding but I am very confused. I have had about every phone you had and have been able to follow every video without any problems. I have also read the comments to see if I could find an answer. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

  • Yes I already rooted it and have superuser installed. Atfirr when I tried to root I got the black screen of death. But was able to fix that with a hard reset. I double checked I had the 32bit drivers installed.

  • When I try to install the RSDLite it gives me an error, code: 2738. What to do?

  • @IND3LIBLE1 Hmm... are you sure you have drivers installed?

  • No the mirror doesn't work. The site no longer exists according to the link

  • @wcdove81 Did you go to where I said: IF ANY LINKS ARE BROKEN:

  • So to understand this correctly, all I need is the smaller pudding file? The link to the RSD file is a dead in. Googled other files but not sure if they're the correct one to be flashing to my phone.

  • @wcdove81 yes use the smaller one... the mirror link doesnt work for rsd lite?

  • Am I not looking in the right place? I can't seem to find the files this video is referring to. I found one of them in the dead links section, but I'm still missing the one under "Pudding:."

  • @Phoosh Just use the smaller pudding file

  • @qbking77 Where do I find the replacement download for this: mophoforum(dot)com/Roms/rsdanddrivers(dot)zip?

    (Thanks for the quick response!)

  • I do have one quick question. Is there anything preventing me from rooting or flashing roms, like updates or anything

  • @emalave29 Nope

  • thank you sir i will download all the necessary files and just hook it up tomorrow at work. You're awesome.

  • @emalave29 You're welcome!

  • I am almost thinking about getting the epic 4g touch tomorrow instead. what would you recommend. It seems to have a lot more support, easier methods, and much more roms.I just dont know if the version I get will still have the unlocked bootloader and if I will have too new a software to root.

  • @emalave29 i prefer the epic 4g touch definitely

  • well see thats where my problem begins. I flashed the 1MB file and it fails. When I open the command prompt it says that there is no such command. Any ideas? XDA instructions are not detailed enough for me. I have flashed roms and everything but on htc shift evo and this is a lot more difficult to crack.

  • hey, maybe you can help me. I have tried to unlock the bootloader for my moto Photon for the last two days. I dont know if you can help, but I need more detailed instructions to get this done because I fail with RSD lite everytime.

  • @emalave29 its supposed to fail... now run the CMD prompt

  • The links in the video aren't active anymore. Can you post any new links?

  • Can you post a link that has the stock recovery img file? The link has been broken. Thanks in advance

  • ok i saved everything as you said for the android sdk but when i pull up the command promt to finish the set up the command promt says cannot find

  • i think the website has expired

  • What should I rename that folder too?

  • @5555555jack anything that you can remember!

  • You should make an updated guide for CM9 from start to finish, trying to follow these guides and the xda guides has a lot of opposing information.

  • The links on the website dont work anymore

  • would this let me unlock to TMOBILE?????

    sprint ---> tmobile?

  • @qbking77 nah, that link is no good anymore!

  • I appreciate the video a lot, but when you make a tutorial you have to list necessary things in the beginning as not to waste peoples time. For ex: you need SDK files and they take forever to download the whole first 6 min of this video is useless if you don't have them!

  • @qbking77 I a mac and im very confused is it possible to unlock my bootloader on a mac?

  • Comment removed

  • @swaheeliaman do you have drivers installed? I haven't heard of any bricked devices

  • Does this still make the 4g NOT work???

  • @stljim2005 Unfortunately, yes.

  • @qbking77 would there be a way to get 4G back?

  • @Unknownx112 Yes, just follow my unrooting video

  • @qbking77 ok but i also found a guide which lets you use 4G in Alien Rom but its long ill PMS you the website

  • Good stuff, unlocked and now I'm about to load a rom. Thanks, brother.

  • @bacardilvr Using the files that are only available now, how did you unlock the bootloader?

  • Thanks a LOTS,

  • @qbking77: I did this on a rooted photon (using your once click root video). So how does this change the process in "How to root and clockworkmod" video? Can I skip the rooting part and just go ahead with clockworkmod?

  • haha mine took like 10 secs to boot up

  • i cannot find the sbf file anywhere and the one thats in the forum is only 1MB and its a rar file that cannot be unzipped and if i change the file type to sbf it still doesnt work

  • @ErisRivera5 Download winrar and unzip that file... just use the small 1mb file insttead

  • @qbking77 Ok, but heres the thing the file not unzzipable its just a rar file that can't be really done into anything and when I try to select it doesn't show up, and so I tried renaming it to .sbf but the flashing failed right away

  • @ErisRivera5 You need 7zip or winrar to extract it

  • @qbking77 gosh im so stupid i dont know what i did but i redownloaded and it downloaded in a .rar file this time so i unzipped it and the sbf file was there and now i unlocked my phone yay thank you so much!

  • why is my sbf\rar file only 1MB??

  • I'VE ALREADY DONE ALL THE PROCESS, BUT IT CAN NOT STILL BE USED FOR MY SIMPLE MOBILE CARD. WHY?

  • can i do this on 45.3.6

  • @ErisRivera5 Should be able to, yes.

  • ya tryed it again and says oem unlock not implemented

....what the heck did i do wrong i followed everything lol....

  • the links dont work ...neither do the links in the sdk video!!!! : ( i been trying to get the rocko

rom on my phone all day ..and none of these links for download work !!!!!

  • @killajoe1216 Updated sdk video.... also check where it says IF ANY LINKS ARE BROKEN

  • @qbking77 ok and when i go to where if any links are broken witch ones do i install????

  • @qbking77 okay i got all the steps done and when i go to put moto-fastboot oem unlock it says unlock not implemented ...what did i do wrong i followed every step to the t????

  • @killajoe1216 hmm.. are you sure you copied the fastboot file in the right folder and had the command prompt pointed to it?

  • @zoteman94 I'm not too sure on how to get it working on GSM networks... I'm sorry :/

  • @qbking77 does this work fine with Motorola Electrify?

  • Does this work fine with Motorola Electrify?

  • @MrKevolution I'm not too sure to be honest. I think it should

  • Does this unlock the sim card? Cause I don't live in the US but I bought one and my sim doesn't work.

  • @Slyfoxwilson99 No not that I know of

  • @qbking77 have you tried this after the recent Sprint update? The rooting works fine. I am hoping this too will. Any idea?

  • @HEWHOSEESITALL Yes this should work just fine as well

  • Qbking rocks... now I am gonna root and flash.

  • broooo !!!! you save me !!! thaks a lot !!!

  • okay... i got my phone unlocked.. but after the first "battery pull" after running rsd lite.. my phone would not want to boot up when pressing the power button.. i had to pull battery, plug phone to charger, press power button, quickly insert battery then push power button.. after the second battery pull (after running cmd) same thing happened.. everything went well except that problem with the battery/power button.. any thoughts?

  • Hey bud, Love your videos. I've rooted and unlocked about 30 phones and I love using your videos to help with it. Quick question though, do you know of a kernal or way to get 4G back after unlock? I could of sworn I saw it somewhere, but I can't find it? Thanks

  • is there a way you can post a link to the pudding_unlock.sbf file? its the only one am missing . Thanks

  • @t3xazboy The smaller file should work fine

  • link did not work for drivers and rds.. also under pudding there is mot 3 links just shows 1mb fast bootloader, kinda threw me off,.. so am confused lol.

  • ok i just tried using this to unlock the boatloader on a friends phone it didnt work hes got 45.3.6 for system version. It worked for mine but i have 45.2.5. Is there a difrrent way to unlock and root. His phone didnt do anything after running RSD and once in cmd i typed moto-fastboot oem unlock and it did nothing

  • may i lost my phone number now (Rom system) if i unlock it with this method?

  • This might be a stupid question, but I'll ask it. Do you have to flash pudding to unlock it or can you use the leaked 4.5.1 sbf? Conflicting reports out there.

  • as sated by D73 the link for pudding_stock is gone, We can't unlock the bootloader without that file, can you post a good link for it here again? Thank you

  • the link for pudding_stock is gone, i can't unlock the bootloader without that file, can you post a good link for it here?

  • Can i use the photon with boost mobile?

  • @lauram0484 I'm not too familiar with that.

  • @qbking77 will it ever be able to get 4g ???

  • @killajoe1216 It doesn't seem like it at the moment

  • I know the motorola photon is factory unlocked to use any other world gsm carrier but t mobile & AT&T USA. Is that true? If there is any possibility to make it work on USA gsm network? Advice me please. Thanx

  • @OldBoyBD I'm not familiar with using it on other carriers. I'm sorry.

  • Yeah, all the links are broken in the thread except for the flasher.

  • Thanks man everything in your video went smooth i love your videos keep them coming the photon needs more community support love what you're doing. You're video worked wonders!

  • This doesnt work for me. I downloaded derpununlock from xda. When I try to flash through the sbf through rsd it instantly fails and says failed flashing process.

  • @thegameksk hmm... try a different port and cable.

  • @qbking77 I tried all of my ports and 4 different cables. Even the one that let me root my epic doesnt work. I keep getting this error "unable to retrieve initialization values from ini file. Failed the flashing process. Any idea how to fix it?

  • @thegameksk dang.... only thing i can say is to try a different pc

  • i clicked the link in the description, took me to the xda page the full sbf unlock file is removed and the bootloader only file that still remains when i click it it takes me to a blank page and no download begins .....anyone help please

  • @phil251977 Maybe try a different browser?

  • bootloader unlock! lol

  • hey quick question i already did the unlocking so how can i use it on a t mobile sim??is there a way? please let me know thanks

  • @deensied I'm not familiar with that.. sorry

  • Mine just fails :( any help?

  • @viper306m Try a different cable/

  • Apparently with the latest pudding file the RSDlite flashing process is a lot quicker than what you made it seem.

  • @gollyzila99 Yeah its been updated

  • Can I use the Motorola Photon on Boost Mobile?

  • @itsosito I'm not too sure about that.

  • The comand promp

  • @Abuelovite oh, cmd.. no there is no way

If I'm with t mobile and would like to use my card for a motorola photon, is this what i need to do ?

  • @incu011 No, i'm not familiar with making it work on other networks

  • thank you ..

  • Hi I have motorola electrify its just like the photon with this bootloader can i unlock it for tmobile ??

  • @HammoudehMehyar I'm honestly not sure.

  • Oh my God, What am i going to do... Hilarious.. lol

  • @burialhymns are you sure you put it in the right folder?

  • I was in Colombia and used a TIGO SIM card. I could make calls but not use the internet or text. Will unlocking/rooting it fix this problem?

  • I purchased a "unlocked" motorola photon from a store in USA . But when I power it up the photon will ask me to activate it on Sprint network . But I only use this phone oversea and in Canada on GSM and UTMS networks.. Will this "unlock" bootloader procedure help me to remove the Sprint activation ?

  • @papaburger I don't think so, no. I'm not too sure what needs to be done to remove it.. not very familiar with that. I apologize.

  • is this still working because on the XDA page under Pudding theres only the 1MB file from diemantephoto and doesn't at all have the mega 464MB pudding_stock.rar file anymore

  • @BloodshedRomance Yeah, the 1MB file is the one you use.

  • @RHH973 ok because that one is called photon_pudding.rar and not stock_pudding.rar thats why I was asking.. hopefully this will work *crosses fingers*

  • @BloodshedRomance It's ok I was thinking the same thing when I did it, but it worked.

  • @BloodshedRomance The small file works just fine

  • So it will wipe my music since its saved on the internal storage?

  • @RHH973 Yes.

  • @qbking77 Umm, I don't understand how I still have my music and pictures lol. Well thank you a million times over. I unlocked the bootloader, rooted, put on clockworkmod, and put on the alien rom. This is my first android, and I've only had the phone for a week. You made it so easy. Your the best man!

  • ...if I could still have 4G while unrooted I would keep it but I've been told otherwise?

  • @asemaan100 Yes you will have 4g working.. .just search my videos I have a video showing how to unroot

  • Hey what's up QB I followed your video instructions awhile back to 'Root' my Motorola 4G Photon...I shortly realized after that you can't use 4G anymore and there isn't even a cyanogenmod 7 out for it yet...so theirs really no reason for me to keep my device 'Rooted'. I was wondering if you could please send me a video on how to 'Unroot' my Photon 4G that's it though not to the Stock setting s I don't want to lose all my data and apps...please help thanks

  • thanks qbking77, now I'm unlocked, rooted and overclocked hehe, also I realize how to do the same with my Xoom. I appreciate *****

  • im 16 year old and i saved up the money to buy this phone of contract is there a way i can use this phone on tmobile

  • @Malik90848 I'm honestly not sure. I'm not too familiar with that.

  • well this work for system version 45.2.7

  • @jimmyeason1980 Yes it should.

  • I have a motorola electrify which is the same thing and it worked!!!

  • @bikelikemad2007 awesome :)

  • why is the pudding file not available now?

  • @sickedoutdrummer I believe the smaller file should work now.

  • Thank you very much for this superb tutorial! It is so frustrating trying to figure out how to unlock a bootloader and trying to put all the information together on the forums is very confusing and tedious process (as well, not to mention, very dangerous to the working of the phone). Even though I am using Linux (Ubuntu 11.04) this tutorial still worked completely for me. Thanks for this superb contribution to the community!

  • it just errors out on me.and the rsd lite program says fail
