Great Jimmy. My GF recently showed me where you used to play and she would rock on. And as you say it's a fucking motel now. As you'd know - RIP The Playhouse at Tally and RIP Festivall Hall in Brissy and the other few hundred fun hell-holes where we all grew up and learnt what real fun was. They gave a voice to Aussie music in the 70s/80s and helped it all become an absolute powerhouse of pure talent.
Let me wake my drunken girlfriend. She has MANY stories of Chisel and The Largs when they were new. I sense they were something to see in the place to be.
There was a notice on the wall of the Victory Hotel at Sellicks Beach (my local), calling for volunteer's. The clip was filmed just above the pub on the hill. It was a good but, long day. 10 of us (including myself) got to hang out Jimmy and his son Jackie (a Tin Lid) for the day. Once it was all done, Jimmy bought us all a drink at the Victory. Unfortunately, i did not hear that he was doing the official launch at the Larges Pier until after I had seen it on the News yesturday.
Turn "Largs Pier" into Surfair, or the Coolum Pub. That has to be one of his best. We are all getting old, and our thoughts do turn back to those "who covered our arse" Love it, Thank you.
Absolutely! I was only 14 yrs old at the time, But my sisters were regulars there and followed Chisel all the way through! Later I met Jims youngest sister and we became the best of friends, and still are to this day...!
i was at the largs pier when they played in the 80s woohoo was a great nite oh yeah :-)
