  • I teach Polish to Scots in Glasgow and I simply admire you! Your lessons are well structured and you explain everything so clearly. I liked 'fresh cheese' and I use it sometimes to make things easier for my students:) It's amazing that an American girl gives lessons on Polish!

  • @DanAndHoe there's really no difference

  • @DanAndHoe co tam? =jak tam?

  • @DanAndHoe

hehe there is nothing diffrence :p

  • she is so baaad!!!

  • I really hope you didn't stop making videos because of people making comments about your accent- who cares- really? I loved watching them. I absolutely cannot pay attention to vids with boring, monotone instructor voices- you're is very compelling. I very well may have given up on getting started if not for your vid as the rest on youtube suck at the moment. Please make more!!!

  • Jedna uwaga- połóż kamerę na biurku czy czymś, bo to trochę nieciekawie wygląda jak obraz się ciągle chwieje :)

  • it's not that you have got THAT bad accent, it's actually really good as for foreigner, but for example your 'cześć' didn't sound as it should and here's my advice: don't try to teach people foreign languages if you don't have a full grip on them, just don't make the people do the same mistakes you do.

  • Stół z POWYŁAMYWANYMI nogami - Only Polish people can say this word xD.

  • @kamil11421 Only Poles CANNOT say this word. :-)

  • you're a good linguist. It's nice to know foreign languages people

  • Good work, I am polish and I really thought you were a native speaker!

  • Well, her pronounciation isn't spot on, but hey, polish is really hard for foreigners. But I was very pleasantly surprised with her knowledge of registers - her classification of formal/informal setting vocabulary and phrases was perfect.

  • Are you American? It's hard to tell since you don't av any foreign accent.

  • dobrze ci idzie:)

  • This is strange but I really enjoyed this video..... I'm Polish :D

  • im polish myslef and im sorry to say to push your polish too hard its ony a soft language like when you say 'jak tam' try just say slower and calmer :D

To wręcz niemożliwe. Ja jestem ze Śląska i ciężko mi mówić z polskim akcentem, a co dopiero amerykance.

  • @Lottienka what does that mean? it looks soo hard to learn, haha I have a long way to go ;)

  • You were cool until heard the yank accent : (

  • Am I right, there's only two videos? :( This one is great - I really like how you explain the pronunciations and how the expressions are used.

  • her polish is great :) americans can prounance polish better than english people :)

  • ale slodka ruda pani :*

  • Jestes mila i ladna ale....masz ciezki amerykanski akcent .Jak chcesz uczyc innych poprawnej polszczyzny, kiedy sama nie mowisz poprawnie ?????

  • @barbibafi no wiesz, nasi polscy nauczyciele angielskiego z liceów i gimnazjum tez uczą, a akcent mają zazwyczaj tragiczny. :-)

  • Generally Polish Serbian Bulgarian Russian and several other languages belong to a same language group so naturally there are a lot of similarities. However, these languages have been separated quite some time ago so they sound the same have lots of similar words but grammatically they are different. It is something like German and English but there are a lot more similarities.

  • i like "Freszczeese" :>

  • slavic languages-russian,polish,ukrainian,belorussian,etc...

    germanic languages-german,swedish,norwegian,danish,english,etc

    italic languages-spanish,portuguese,italian,french,rumanian,etc

    celtic languages-briton,welsh,manx,gealic,etc

    hellenic languages-koine,doric,ionic,byzantine greek,etc

so on and so forth make up the Indo European language familly!!!!!

  • Nie "dżen dobry" tylko "dzień dobry" :PP

Ale i tak Ci nieźle idzie ;)

  • There's a polish girl at work I'm goin to try and impress - and this is a great help.

  • @INeedToLiveLonger thanks :D

  • mmm skad jestes moze? fajnie ten film. Ja sie nauczylem polskiego doskonale, 2 lata temu a teraz mowie bardzo dobrze mam fajnie poziom natomiast zawsze czegos brakuje ;) pozdrawiam

  • is it safe to say Polish is similar to Russian? Im american, and I study German and Russian, in russian good evening is dobri vecher Добрый вечер if anyone is familiar with Russian, is it similar to the way Dutch and Deutsch are?

  • they're in the same family--slavic languages. i think the vocab is about 30-40% cognates, but some words sound like it and aren't. they're not mutually intelligible.

i can understand about 50% of spoken ukrainian and a bit more spoken slovak...czech's tougher for me to catch, and i don't understand much russian.

i think dutch and german are a good comparison, but i think they're actually a bit closer even grammatically and vocab-wise than russian and polish.

  • @emmieisayeti Dutch and German are not that close. They are close because, like you said, it's a germanic language and that makes the root of the language look-a-like. That's what happens in most European countries, you know. I also thought Polish was similar to Russian. Better, I thought the language was almost the same, just the characters changed. Though when I became a fan of Behemoth, things went clear for me.

  • @emmieisayeti

chyba cipa cię swędzi ! / pussy you itches !

  • @emmieisayeti actually Polish is western slavic branch of slavic languages. Russian is an eastern one. Polish is a LOT more similiar to Czech than to Russian and Slovak is virtually a copy of Polish language (Slovaks, please do not get upset, you can say polish is a copy of Slovak, its ok for me:) )

. More, Russian stress is "mobile", while Polish one is almost always second syllabe from the end. ANd so on, there are more differences.

Good comparision would be Spanish and Catalan.

  • @emmieisayeti

I'm Dutch and I think German and Dutch are quite similar, since they are both German (not as in Deutsch but I'm not sure what's the English word is). But, as you already stated about Russian and Polish, it sometimes sounds the same but means something completely different.

I'm going to Poland in October and does anybody know how the English and/or German is over there? (Do they speak those languages near Krakow?)

  • @DanAndHoe dutch and german maybe not, but english is quite popular

  • @mordsgaudimachenGenerally Polish Serbian Bulgarian Russian and several other languages belong to a same language group so naturally there are a lot of similarities. However, these languages have been separated quite some time ago so they sound the same have lots of similar words but grammatically they are different. It is something like German and English but there are a lot more similarities.

  • @mordsgaudimachen It is actually, I'm in high school right now and it turned out my sec language will be russian. At first I thought "F*ck, great idea...", but then I discovered it's extremly simple for me, as a Pole.

btw. her pronunciation isn't very good :p

  • @mordsgaudimachen

Russian language is a next evolution polish language ;D So many words is similar or same ;D I know this because I;m polish ;P

  • @rempol666 It's not like this at all. They come from similar sources, both being slavic-launguages, but beside of common "roots" they developed into completly diffrend ways.

  • r u polish ? x

  • Yeah, this is definitely what I was looking for.

I wanted some basic polish and I was just finding videos with people messing up their own lessons.

    Please keep uploading =P

  • polishness is coolness xDD

  • ooh la la seksowny akcent ;) :P :P

  • Thank you thank you!!! My brother has married a Polish woman and her parents don't speak English and I'm trying to learn. LIstening to cd's in the car is helpful, but it's great to be able to look at you as you speak the words. I'll be studying with you regularly.

  • qO.op bądź tudzież można rzec iż we wszystkich przypadkach można zapodać WITAM :D gdyż jest prostsze do wypowiedzenia

  • This is great ! I'm going out with a Polish girl and she doesn't speak English. Our common language is French , lol .

  • I'm Polish and I love your pronunciation :D You're doing very well

  • Try to say:

    or

    Stół z POWYŁAMYWANYMI nogami

if you do this you are a Pole ;)

  • @andranEU

    ksiądz bździ w skrzyni!

  • @andranEU or:

Czy tata czyta cytaty z tacyta :)

  • Comment removed

  • you know, that might not sound like a polish accent, couse it's a bit difficult for foreign people to speak like that, so let's just leave them the words ;p

you won't say anything correctly after 10 minutes of learning from this video, but i'm not talking only about polish exactly, and this video seems to be an encouragement to learning some other language. ..so the people know not to say "fuck off" insted of "yes, that really was a nice piece of a dish" ;p

  • ..and sorry for the cursing, btw... mea culpa

  • God, you are so hot! Are all Polish women as good looking as you?

  • you're retarded

  • Hi i'm brazilian but i know too much about english thanks for this 1st lesson =D

  • Mau Brasil is very poor ... You don't lerning english!! Its terrible man!

  • Emmieisayeti, maybe your pronunciation, as you said: "...teraz w dupie" , but look to the good side of this situation - you got nice US an accent and it's good for ya. ;)

And "Dzień dobry", by the way, that's not "Good day" but "Good morning", "Good afternoon" depends on situation. :D

But I fully understand you it's hard to translate phrases from your native language to English. ;)

    So, good luck with that!

  • Dzień Dobry to nie Good Day tylko Good morning tak to sie tlumaczy w szkolach ...

  • haha :P lepiej po angielsku gadasz niz po polsku xDD - taki fajny amkerykanski akcent ^^

  • so how can i greet a special person??? please respond

  • @techie190 eee you can say Witaj! or Dzień Dobry... if i understand what you want

  • very nice work! bardzo dobre. moze ty robi the words ..so i can read it... tak? ^^

  • Dobra leckia!!

  • Great video, awesome :)

  • good job girl ;)

  • "dziękuję" , I think... if you're learning, it's easy to add an alternate language setting to windows XP so you can easily get to the ę ą ł ż ń and other interesting characters.

In fact, the only difference I have noticed is that the @ and " symbols change places, so you might as well leave your keyboard in Polish laybout all the time, just so you have it when you need it.

  • i'm flattered, but i have no polish ancestry at all--i lived there for a year and a half during uni and taught myself the language. :)

  • nice video :-) I've been trying to teach myself for a few months now, as we have a large polish community here and I felt the need to try. I always get a good response when I try a little with my customers!

  • emmieisayeti you are very good at polish and doesn't sound like a foreigner when you speak in polish. i liked your way of teaching :) keep it up my friend

  • thank you! i'm going to be teaching in dc this fall (not polish language), so i will try to post more when i have a spare moment...

  • but if you dont mind may know where are you from? thanks

  • @sindiali O god, he had very bad pronunciation, nobody in Poland speeks in that kind. Cieść? Cześć it makes difference.

  • @jestdosko

because her brain was in "english mode"

it happens that if you speak english for long time you pronounce with english accent some things

  • I really like this video - good job :)
