You use a lot of big words, but that doesn't mean you know what you're talking about. A terrorist boards an airplane and attempts to take out a government building but is caught. He knows exactly where Osama Bin Laden is but will not give this information up willingly. What do you do? They're not slicing eyelids off and going "Hostel" on this guy, they pursuade him with psychological unrest. There are far worse atrocities the government commits every single day without anyone saying a word.
Sorry, I prefer reality to hollow hypotheticals. You should try it some time. Like the reality (as any legitimate interrogator will tell you) that torture does not yield reliable info. And the reality that torture, in addition to the ongoing illegal wars against countries that pose no threat to us (which have so far killed well over a million civilians) only feed the hate.
Are you an apologist for Bush or Obama? It's hard to tell by looking at your completely empty YouTube channel.
@tsunami2322 If there are any of these "atrocities" you allege are occurring that are classified as illegal they should be prosecuted as well. There is no justification to using a technique that has classed illegal under international and domestic law to justify some kind or red meat 24 like mentality. The people that support torture use their fear to justify their stance, we should never be so afraid as to abandon the rule of law. If we do we hand a victory to the enemies of freedom.
Does the idiot in this video realise that the wire taps and the Patriot Act, the bombings of suspected terrorists in Afghanistan and Pakistan is continuing under the Obama administration? Does he not realise that instead of rendition, terrorist suspects now face termination by drones firing rockets from thousands of feet above?
Does he not realise that Obama has effectively endorse the Bush Iraq War policy?
Does he not realise the 2001-2008 anti-Bush hysteria was just politics?
So what's your point? Should we just accept that Obama is just another special interest, military industrial complex tool and be silent about it? Here's a newsflash for you, genius: Commenting on the 180 degree difference between Obama's flowery campaign rhetoric and action since taking office does not mean we believed his campaign promises. It means we're calling him out on the contradictions. Something that nameless, nondescript trolls like you clearly don't have the cojones to do.
So you do think we should just shut up and take it like good little sheep. That gutless attitude is precisely the problem. Far too many people think there's nothing they can do, so they just wallow in their cowardice and try to make themselves feel better by scoffing and taking anonymous pot shots at those of us who actually do have the nerve to speak out. Whether Obama cares does not figure into the effort to honor our responsibility as citizens. We're doing what we're supposed to do.
I'll let the record here speak for itself. Anybody who cares enough to be truly objective will will have no problem determining who the real total BSer is. Keep trying, genius. You just might get it some day.
@jperryam Exactly true! But also peoples cowardice will only allow government to normalize what is bad for us all. Probably they just look at the immediate and see how the few brave have gotten back flack bad thrown thier way.

I guess President Obama thinks it's important to protect those who torture, but not a competent Arabic interpreter who happens to be openly gay. Bush and Obama are mirror images of each other.
This is not about left and right , this is about right and wrong. The law is the law. Evil can not be fought with evil. The law does not care about parties. The Attorney General must follow his job description, investigate and prosecute where crimes are found. The Congress must do the same. No one is above the law there is nothing to debate. From Bush to Pelosi and beyond, investigate and uphold the law. We must affirm to ouselves and show the rest of the world we are a nation of laws!!!!!!!!!!

I know that some of the citizens of Ireland still have the will to challenge their their government. You do not appear to be among them. I for one will continue to challenge the US government when I disagree with them, without regard for your position. "Our work" is a reference to that persistant challenge.
What the fuck are you talking about? The current coalition government is very unpopular and most of the people want to vote them out at the next election which will probably be called before the end of this year judging by the latest dire opinion poll performance.
They can vote the current pack of bastards out and vote in a new crew.
Face it democracy simply means that the people decide which gang of rich cunts rule for this five year term.
Why don't you run for office? That is what I am talking about. Why don't you support someone to run for office you trust? That is how you stop the cycle of "rich cunts", not by being apathetic about apathy. Don't just give up. I understand your frustration, I am however unwilling to participate in it. Stand up and get to work, even if it is by talking to the people you see each day about how to change things for the better.
Seek out agreements and create new reality with the use of your will.
Under U.S. "justice", you may now kidnap, torture & murder someone &, when you get "caught" you will not be prosecuted for your acts by simply stating, "Oh, that was SOOOO last week !"
Obama has said openly that prosecuting someone for a diabolical illegal act is a waste of time.
Also, if you commit such acts under orders of a crime boss, that person high on the crime ladder will never even be touched by the law because they are part of the "justice" system, immune to OUR "laws".
Obama helped develop the plans for post-election violence in the event that his cousin lost the election for President of Kenya... that resulted in the killing of over a thousand Christians last year. What makes you think Obama cares about morality or is in a position to prosecute anyone?
Your intensity is noteworthy, but you expect way too much from a government that won't even obtain a birth certificate from Obama.
Expecting government to honor the Constitution and the rule of law is too much? Sorry,my friend. I beg to differ. It's our job as citizens to not simply expect adherence to these values, but to speak out and demand it when Congress and the Executive Branch are both so clearly ignoring them. Which is why I'm here, and why the intensity will continue. Thanks for noting it. Too many are too wrapped up in the left/right trap to notice they've forgotten to put their country first. This must change.
i believe all this torture talk by Obama is a smoke screen. Keep us talking about this so he can do something under our noses. I have a challenge for you Jerry. If the Twin Towers were brought down by our government and then they tortured these guys to "stop" more attacks. You must ask why torture? WHat information were they really after? What could they be ater? Or is it just a smoke screen also?
They tortured to get the "confessions" and other completely unreliable information that they then used as bogus justification for their perpetual war stance, and for Constitution-shredding legislation like the Patriot Act, the Military Commissions Act, and the FISA bill that let the telecoms off the hook for assisting Bushco's illegal spying program. Obama is just trying to protect the Bushies from prosecution. BTW - No big deal, just thought you should know - the name is John, not Jerry.

Nice job jperryam. Not surprising how Obama has been acting thus far. All his appointments are either CFR, Bilderbergers or Tri-lateral Commissions scum. I knew we were in trouble when I saw where his campaign contributions were coming from, who his advisors were and are, his totally awful voting record and his charisma. People need to shut off their TVs and snap out of it before it's too late. So much incredible nonsense on TV (i.e. Janine Garafolo calling tax protestors racists).
Obama is nothing but a velvet glove on an iron fist. The fact that he isn't bush, isn't republican, and isn't completely white gives him all the cover he needs to continue the second bush administration for the next 8 years with not even a peep from 99% of the people who opposed bush.
Nice sentiment, esgatch (I'm serious about that, not being sarcastic) but: 1) Biden wouldn't be any better; and, 2) since Nancy Pelosi said impeachment was "off the table" for Bush's crimes and criminals there's no chance they'd consider it for Obama's--which don't yet hold a candle. User "anongrey" (earlier) nailed the reason: these crooks aren't committed to "us" OR the Constitution, and the day any maverick politician dared try to be they'd end up just like JFK.
Obama's decision betrays the constitution and threatens the Rule of Law everywhere. Every action has a reaction so the future looks worse thanks to Obama. What a wasted opportunity. I think Ralph Nader was right all along about Obama. He's just been promoted to a front of house position, that's all!
Well, I guess, in an emergency, those Change campaign posters could still be used as toilet paper... that is, once you're done wiping your ass with the constitution. Obamarama!
Obama is a spokesman with a velvet tongue, used to try to keep things calm so that the raging storm which is brewing will not blow everything and everyone away before the right time comes. He is being used like a national tranquillizer as the US sinks into coma, brain death and final demise. He has been allowed to be placed in office to hold back the world revolution which is coming.
Obama showed his colors when he said "We must look forward and not to the past" in reference to Bush being investigated for war crimes. So here he admits crimes of torture were committed, but says we will not prosecute.
The law is the law. The law does not care about parties. The Attorney General must follow his job description, investigate and prosecute where crimes are found.
