I have also heard of that the Orion CEV will still be used as a sort of emergency escape vehicle from the ISS after the Constellation program is officially cancelled, and so Lockheed Martin will continue to work on Orion with some modification. But if so, wouldn't launching that Orion capsule into space require the Ares I rocket? So basically does this mean that even with the cancellation of that program, the Orion capsule and the Ares I rocket would still remain?
The cancellation of Constellation is a proposal in the President's FY11 budget. It is not official yet. Until that happens, the Constellation Program continues with the work it is obligated to perform under its FY10 budget plan. These videos were produced over the last several years as part of the planning process for Ares I and Ares V. All of the proposed processing is simulated to tested ahead of time to ensure that everything works together.
The Constellation program would have been a very nice and successful program, but wasn't it cancelled? Every single source except for NASA admits it. So if that program has been cancelled, than what's the point of making animations and plans of something that won't happen?
