those two episodes in the sopranos were they play this song is what got me to know otis redding, i love sopranos, that is my show, these two episodes were beautifully done, and this song is just the greatest
Sopranos is my favourite show. Seen it more times than I can remember.
Was just watching this episode on Sky Atlantic 06/07/11 and the end credits made me go "WTF is that tune" gerbil did youtube and satisfied his curiosity
if it was not for the sopranos i would of never heard of this song an ive been lookin 4 it every where best song ever an ive just found it let the gd times roll!!! :) LDN town
Christopher Moltisanti embodied the son Tony wanted which is why he cares so much about him, even when he kills him, he regrets it bigtime, which you never see otherwise.
great classic song right here thanks, i was wondering if you knew what the song tony and the black guy were talking about in the changing rooms? that crooked cop tonys mate was also there? haha would be much appriciated thanks
I was watching a rerun of Sopranos and this song was playing and I noticed it enough to research it. The whole scene where this song played was so touching and the song is gorgeous.
I loved the Sopranos. And when they played this song, by one of my all time favorite artist on the show, it just blew me away. It was the perfect song for that moment in the show. I was hoping then that it would introduce some fans to his music that have never heard of Otis. The most soulful artist ever! He sings this song and many other ballads as if he is really feeling the pain. You have to be born with that talent. It`s not something you can learn. R I P Otis. You`re still No 1 to me.
On of the few times i've ever cried while watching a show or movie was when this song played and adriana saw chris like that. so poignant and perfect song for it
I know there is a video of him performing this song, but I was wondering if anyone might have an actual copy of him performing it in front of a live audience.
Otis was killed in a plane crash at age 26 and Hank Williams died in the back seat of his car, possibly of pneumonia, on his way to a comeback concert in West Virginia at age 29. Think how much influence these two had on music in general. How much influence would they have had if they had lived to normal ages?
This is not about the Sopranos. My lovers prayer is just about the greatest, soulful, rip your heart out, love songs ever recorded. Otis Redding is one of the greatest love song soul singers in the history of recorded music. Thank you for great sounding post.
@jimyjamn Absolutely couldn't agree more. I loved the Sopranos but what you have said about Otis is spot on, the greatest break your heart soul singer of all time.
His wife wrote this as a poem. She still has a very classy shoestore in Macon. I went there 2 yrs ago, it was dreary monday, not a good day in Macon. It was closed.
I am 16 and i first discovered this kind of music when i was 10 my first soul song i listened to was It''s a man's world by James Brown and my god i was in awe then as i was goin through my dads cd collection i found the otis redding collection and i coudnt believe how great this man was and the fact that he was only 26 just shocked me i think he was definitly a great god of sould but i dont feel he gets enough recognition.
IT'S AMAZING HEARING FROM PEOPLE WHO NEVER HEARD OF oTIS REDDING! HIS MUSIC IS PHENOMENAL AND THOUGH HE DIED AT AGE 26 ON NOV 7, 1967 FORTY TWO YEARS AGO, HIS BEATIFUL MUSIC CAN NEVER BE DUPICATED! iN FACT NOT MANY PEOPLE EVEN TRY TO IMITATE THE SOULFUL, HAUNTINGLY BEAUTIFUL VOICE OF OTIS REDDING! WE MISS YOU AND WE LOVE YOU!
yep ive never herd this song or of otis reading until the sopranos episode and honestly it brought tears to my eyes been a fan ever since this guys voice is amazing so sad he died young
Thank you for posting this song & video...I have been looking for this song for the longest time.....I saw the repeat of this episode of The Sopranos several weeks ago, and I am so glad I can watch this video now - you totally rock!!

The Sopranos producers brought back lots of great music, but none better than this.
Monk's producers gave us Otis' White Christmas which may be the best thing he ever recorded.
Lucky to have been there the first time around and still enjoying this totally fine music.
