I think they're both great. The 1st gen is an amazing example of inexpensive, unique, pure sports car fun, while the 2nd gen delivers exactly what it promises in a more upscale, high-tech, "80's" package. I wouldn't say one is better than the other, just different.
Huh? This has series 2 rims, so how can it be a '85 model??? Series 2 had 110x4PCD and series 3 has 114.3x4PCD. Series 2 rims dont even fit. Those mags have the same bolt pattern as the early mazdas, NOT the 1984-1985 series 3. Still a good commercial though.
Just because the commercial is from 1985 doesn't mean it was meant to showcase the GSL-SE nor does it mean that they didn't make the other models then either.

a lot of people would say first gen is better, sure a lot of things are nicer in the 2nd gen but if you work on cars i'd say first is more fun
