  • This organ is perhaps better known to some enthusiasts as 'The Fishes'. Imported by Charles Hart to England, it became well known when part of the late Frank Bond's collection. Its art deco facade was added by Mortier's in 1938. This front happily still exists but is no longer with this organ. Those of you who belong to the KDV can see Het Pierement No. 1 2011 for more information!

  • @perleeman Completely correct!

  • is this organ going to to stay there permanent?..

  • @nicolaj0154 Nothing is ever permanent, but it is supposed to be in the museum from now on yes.

  • @Thijsie92 Thanks again,Thijsie, the front is fantastic,i would never have known it wasn't original!,the serial number does suggest it's from the early thirties, must have been one of the last classic Mortiers built before the Art Deco ones which are much louder!

  • @petermackett37 I have just been informed that I got the serial number wrong; the organ is from 1929.

  • @Thijsie92 Thanks again,Thijsie, the sound of it would be right for that year.

  • What year was this Mortier built in?

  • @petermackett37 Judging by the serial number I'm guessing 1930-1931.

  • @Thijsie92Thanks,Thijsie, Later than i thought,i would have said mid 1920's,sounds very similar to De Kluisberg and the Utrecht Mortier. The front is similar to the Mortier in Helmond and that's a much earlier instrument.

  • @petermackett37 The front is new disigned by NBC and has nothing to do with the facade the organ had when NBC bought it a coulpe of years ago. Maybe it was build with a sort of facade like this, but the organ came to Hilvarenbeek with an incomplete Art Deco front.

The voicing of a newer Mortier can be changed these days if the customer wants it witch is been done by another company a few years ago with the toren (tower) Mortier, a very raw sounding 1930 < organ.

  • @121omePiet Thanks,Piet for the information,i only just found this reply, didn't come up in my comment box again!

  • Geweldig orgel zeg! Complimten!

    Graag meer;)
