@123AmyH123 Because Ethan ( Bad Guy ) Captured him and a girl named Claire. He had no use for Charlie and he told Jack if they kept following him he would kill Charlie or Claire. And thats what he did! So he hung Charlie in a tree. Thats how he ended up there. :) !

I love this scene because previously Jack's father tells him to let go and that he can't save everyone. Instead of letting go Jack continues to try and it ends up saving Charlie. Jack's problem with letting go has saved many lives yet torturing his own.

This was the scene that hooked me to LOST. I will always remember it. My skin burst into goosebumps, I was breathless and sobbing at the same time and I knew this show was the real deal. This is the scene that shows you who Jack is...this is my favorite. I will always miss LOST and always love it for these great scenes.

@carmelknows Actually (and I think most would agree) Walkabout was kind of the turning point in Lost, that's the first time you find out there is definitely something strange about the Island. I'll never forget how creeped out I was when I saw Christian Shepard just standing in the water in a suit, and finding out that it was Jack's dead dad. And you find out that Locke used to be paralyzed before they crashed, AND it was only after Walkabout that ABC committed to the rest of the season

I disagree. I think the monster(introduced in the pilot) was the obvious indicator that something strange was happening. Maybe the monster would be easily to explain that healing paralysis and ghosts, but it's still a GIANT UNSEEN MONSTER.

Yes, you're right. Usually you just press with hands but when it doesn't work you can also try punching very hard. As a doctor Jack knows that if Charlie's heart is in V-fib you can get it stopped, in rare cases, by punching hard on chest. After the heart is stopped sinus node might start the normal heartbeat again. Very much the same idea is used in a defibrillator.

the only thing i don't like about this scene is the music. in fact, i think most lost scenes would be better without the music, it really makes it seem more gritty and real, like you're witnessing it as it really happened. the music just takes me out of the setting to be honest.

This was the first time I heard that beautiful sad music in lost. I think it was the first time they used it, and it sounded so heartbreaking I thought that meant he was really dead. My best friend and I were watching and we were like, "Noooo!!!" I'm glad Jack didn't stop. One of the reasons I started watching was bec Dom was from LOTR my fave movie. Charlie cheated death here - he was supposed to have died here in the first place. My theory is that whilst the 'universe has a way of course correcting' his death, the Island used Desmond and his exposure to the electromagnetic burst as a way of counter-acting course correction. That way Charlie would survive long enough until he had fulfilled his role - allowing communication with outside world by pushing the button in Looking Glass Station.

A scene like this really gave the tone on what this show is able to do in there early years. In my opinion, how good the show was in his first season, it was nothing compared to the 3th, 4th and 5th season. LOST really got better every single year.

Totally agree with you "leadcharisma". Absoulutely nail-biting and riveting stuff. Like many have said, this was the moment that showed me how great Lost could be. Superb acting - Lilly is good but the intensity of Fox's performance is stunningly good!
