Omg I thought he died and drowned I am so glad because I bet my mom so yay so far I have to give her the money but I told her I'd give the money after season 6 so ya we are on season 4
Evangeline Lilly's tears felt real rather than acted. Real world acting, given she was probably romantically involved with Dominic Monaghan by this point.
did u realize kate told jack to stop and that charlie wasnt coming back. but he did. she said the same thing in lax part 2 wwhen sayid died but he came back.
not knowing when to give up is character flaw. whole episode was on that concept really. but the things is, sometimes it may pay off amazingly, it's worth it.
@123AmyH123 I think that Jack just thought that he could save Charlie! He didn`t want to let Charlie die. : ) ! ( I wouldn`t want to Let Charlie die )
@123AmyH123 Because Ethan ( Bad Guy ) Captured him and a girl named Claire. He had no use for Charlie and he told Jack if they kept following him he would kill Charlie or Claire. And thats what he did! So he hung Charlie in a tree. Thats how he ended up there. :) !
wat was awesome bout this show was Hurley being the new leader of the island wat sucked was the epilogue show it didn't explain shit and did nothing but raise a whole lot more questions that will sadly never be answered :(
im just happy Hugo lives seeing someone like him die on the show. now that i would cry to. i swear i would im a guy at the age 21 but to be honest id cry
Most emotional moment in whole series for me...tears easily...never give up...it's never over until it's over. You know come to think of it; I think Jack possesses many value of human life-life saving qualities of a certain doctor Kenzo Tenma.
I love this scene because previously Jack's father tells him to let go and that he can't save everyone. Instead of letting go Jack continues to try and it ends up saving Charlie. Jack's problem with letting go has saved many lives yet torturing his own.
when jack says in the episode "the moth" "your not useless , that took a lot of guts coming in here and saving me, i wont ever forget that" , atleast he stayed true to his word.
@52vegeta52 They actually said it was a hard scene to shoot and that they all took it hard. Emotional scenes such as this one wouldn't really have bloopers because the actors are in this dark place.
This was the first episode of Lost I ever watched. What a journey it's been! Anyone, please come and start posting over at the ABC LOST MESSAGE BOARDS. Don't let the journey ever end. Post anything: why you loved Lost, your favorite episode, favorite scene, maybe a theory you have, a question you'd like to ask. We need more posters so you'd be more than welcomed.
@kissarmy21 More than you even know :' ( Every single day, for over hours, my thoughts revolve around Lost. The books I'm currently are all from Lost. This lets me have new stories to continue with similarities to, the one and only, Lost. It is the greatest thing to ever happen.
I never forget this scene. I cried so hard thinking Charlie was dead, and then I cried so hard when he came to life. Thank you Jack for not giving up!
My favorite Lost scene ever, and probably the exact moment where I realized that I cared more about the humanity of lost more than the mysteries (so yeah, I loved the series finale).
Really, the person you feel most sorry for in this scene is Jack. You want Charlie to live because Jack is trying bloody hard, not so much because Charlie's a decent fellow or something.
omg I was so upset by this scene! I had the biggest crush on charlie and was stunned when i saw him hanging there! I was like "come on Jack you have to save him!" This was when lost was addicting!
i think her most epic fail moment, was when she knocked desmond over in the Swan, and shot the computer . . . all she does is find trails and creates love triangles, sso you know, useless as usual
This was the scene that hooked me to LOST. I will always remember it. My skin burst into goosebumps, I was breathless and sobbing at the same time and I knew this show was the real deal. This is the scene that shows you who Jack is...this is my favorite. I will always miss LOST and always love it for these great scenes.
This episode is where Lost got awsome. Shame it was forgotten about in regards to the others and substituted for the magical island rubbish and the others being scientists and hippies.
@carmelknows Actually (and I think most would agree) Walkabout was kind of the turning point in Lost, that's the first time you find out there is definitely something strange about the Island. I'll never forget how creeped out I was when I saw Christian Shepard just standing in the water in a suit, and finding out that it was Jack's dead dad. And you find out that Locke used to be paralyzed before they crashed, AND it was only after Walkabout that ABC committed to the rest of the season
I disagree. I think the monster(introduced in the pilot) was the obvious indicator that something strange was happening. Maybe the monster would be easily to explain that healing paralysis and ghosts, but it's still a GIANT UNSEEN MONSTER.
Most likely..but Jack probably wasn't really hitting on him, they use sound effects for that so he really barely touches him. It's all in the acting :)
Yes, you're right. Usually you just press with hands but when it doesn't work you can also try punching very hard. As a doctor Jack knows that if Charlie's heart is in V-fib you can get it stopped, in rare cases, by punching hard on chest. After the heart is stopped sinus node might start the normal heartbeat again. Very much the same idea is used in a defibrillator.
the only thing i don't like about this scene is the music. in fact, i think most lost scenes would be better without the music, it really makes it seem more gritty and real, like you're witnessing it as it really happened. the music just takes me out of the setting to be honest.
This was the first time I heard that beautiful sad music in lost. I think it was the first time they used it, and it sounded so heartbreaking I thought that meant he was really dead. My best friend and I were watching and we were like, "Noooo!!!" I'm glad Jack didn't stop. One of the reasons I started watching was bec Dom was from LOTR my fave movie. Must've hurt though, nut that could be just the mic making it seem louder.
Charlie cheated death here - he was supposed to have died here in the first place. My theory is that whilst the 'universe has a way of course correcting' his death, the Island used Desmond and his exposure to the electromagnetic burst as a way of counter-acting course correction. That way Charlie would survive long enough until he had fulfilled his role - allowing communication with outside world by pushing the button in Looking Glass Station.
shit i missed this episode - i have to download it now - i knew he lived but i didnt acctualy watch it :'( i cried when he REALLY died
i think its so sweet that evangaline and domonic are married in real life - they must have been real tears not acting tears - just imagen him dead really
A scene like this really gave the tone on what this show is able to do in there early years. In my opinion, how good the show was in his first season, it was nothing compared to the 3th, 4th and 5th season. LOST really got better every single year.
Love this show so much, just as this scene. There were all so touching.
i love the emotion in this scene jack will not give up on charlie ever and kate crying her eyes out hoping-praying that he will be okay. it was a very cool scene.
charlie was one of those characters that wasn't a main one, but he was so funny and willing to help out that he became a favorite... i was crying at this scene!!
I had kind of a crush on Charlie and when I saw this happen I was soooooo sad!! I thought he was dead! Lost killed off all of it's characters, it's just not the same anymore... i like the old episodes.
I disagree. Here, he was murdered. This is an awesome and touching scene because it shows Jack's commitment, but the actual death shows how Charlie really wants to help people and be forgiven. He gave up his life so Claire and the others could be saved.
i get goosebumps everytime, when he wakes up. it's just such a powerful moment with the huge breath, then the music comes on, and of course jack and kate's reactions.
jack and his whole obsession with "fixing" things and people has always annoyed me, but moments likes these just makes me thankful that he's so insistent :D
Until he gets people killed by making rash decisions based on emotion and thick-headedness.
It's times like these that ends up helping the situation, but let's all remember the season 3 finale where Jack was willing to let Jin, Bernard and Sayid be shot JUST TO DO THE OPPOSITE OF WHAT BEN WANTED.
So sometimes it's OK to love Jack, but most of the time he's just a drunken bully whose stubbornness gets people killed.
why indeed!!! ;_; i think it's interesting that dom monaghan had to act out 3 death scenes in this series... do they have something against him??? @.@
Totally agree with you "leadcharisma". Absoulutely nail-biting and riveting stuff. Like many have said, this was the moment that showed me how great Lost could be. Superb acting - Lilly is good but the intensity of Fox's performance is stunningly good!
Omg I thought he died and drowned I am so glad because I bet my mom so yay so far I have to give her the money but I told her I'd give the money after season 6 so ya we are on season 4

Epcdrw 2 years ago 2

Thank God Jack is so damn stubborn, he didn't give up on him. Poor Charlie!

jack and his whole obsession with "fixing" things and people has always annoyed me, but moments likes these just makes me thankful that he's so insistent :D
i do love him sometimes.

i love Evangeline Lilly's performance in this scene, it brings me to tears every time. I don't think this scene would be as powerful without her.

this is the reason why we all love jack. because he's just a hero.

This has been flagged as spam show
Until he gets people killed by making rash decisions based on emotion and thick-headedness.

akuarashi 2 years ago 3
is this including when he actually drowned to death??? what other "death" scenes did he act out???
wickedglamour 2 years ago
1) this hanging scene, 2) the arrow-in-throat dream scene, and 3) actual death scene of drowning.

I remember screaming at the TV during this scene. I so very sad he is dead now.

When I first saw this i couldn't believe it!
I thought as Charlie had the drugs and Claire storylines they would carry on.. I was screaming at the tv lol!
Then when he came back I was like WOW!!.... i wasn't crying haha

lol, 2:23 you can see charlie's hand twitching
orangelegs9 3 years ago
his hand would be twitching because his getting pounded on the chest and it's vibrating through his body, it would happen to anyone.

Totally agree with you "leadcharisma". Absoulutely nail-biting and riveting stuff. Like many have said, this was the moment that showed me how great Lost could be. Superb acting - Lilly is good but the intensity of Fox's performance is stunningly good!
