I'm floored. Performing live on TV is absurdly risky. Sometimes it just doesn't sound worth a crap. That's why in the 60's and 70's a lot of bands would either just not do shows like SNL or they would lip sync and play instruments that were not plugged in on shows like American Bandstand. Squeeze is a tight band. I'm not even a big follower. I own none of their stuff but boy, they're pros. Nice.
not only do i not like this song, i hate the words to it. "Pulling Mussels from a Shell". that just doesn't sit right for me. i searched this just to see what other people thought of this and to put my 2 cents in and give this a thumbs down.
Saw Squeeze last night.....outstanding...thought it was 1980!!!! um Hey Jimmy Fallon....can ya get the name of the song right????? not "the shell"......."a shell"!!!!! They did just about every song off of 45's and Under.....one of my all time favs.....highly recommened.....blew away the opening act Cheap Trick!!!
@iownallhmongdjs If you actually look with your eyes, there's a wire trailing out of the leftish side of the iPad - you can see it hanging at times. And also I'm sure the guitar and crash cymbals just dominated those last two notes. You can tell he's playing it live...wouldn't go as far as saying there's mistakes, but it's just not as smooth.
The Roland VK-8 does, in fact, have an acoustic piano sound and I guarantee it sounds better than the iPad. There is no difference in using the non-velocity sensitive iPad and a crappy toy keyboard from Walmart.
@ColinGabrielSmith the piano on all of the Hammond-ish keyboards (Nord isn't so bad) sound horrible. It was a last minute fill in spot for Squeeze and gimmicky though it might be it's always cool to see a band with vintage sensibilities stretch into new technology yeah?
@Ekustix And the word "ROLAND" in 6 inch letters on the front of his keyboard isn't? What is it that makes people blind to innovation? It's not 1979 anymore. Join this century, eh.
@MooCowMusic - The App "Pianist Pro" was covered this week on the "iPad Today" podcast and it looks great!!!!! Congratulations. It looks like a must have for me.
@cathoderoy I once saw "Squeeze Acoustic" featuring Difford and TIlbrook. That was a great show. I also saw "Squeeze" two different times without Difford (he was in rehab each time). not as good.
@squeezeaway Yes Stephen Large is great on keyboards, he and Simon Hanson (drummer) along with Lucy Shaw (bass) have been playing with Glen for several years in the Band called the Fluffers. (see flufferstv on youtube). They have a great album out and do great live performances of their stuff, Squeeze stuff and Glenn's solo stuff.
Stephen Large and Simon Hansen have an energy matched only by Glenn.

I have no idea. Glenn Tipton and Squeeze is the single greatest pop band since the Beatles. Actually, I like Squeeze better.

Typo, sorry. Thanks for the correction. I never would have caught it you didn't respond.
Tilbrook, Tilbrook... It won't happen again. Apparently my mind was in one more place than it could handle.
Thanks, man. I feel like an idiot now. - lol.

Squeeze was a Great Band, But they have a nerd in the piano in the iPad,
but prefered that they call one (or more) that their old friends Jools Holland, Paul Carrack, Chris Holland, Andy Metcalfe, and Bruce Hornsby.
Jools and Bruce with two Steinway Grand Piano (one Ton each) are much more that a Millon of iPads.

LAME! THE IPAD IS NOT EVEN HOOKED UP TO A WIRE, WIRELESSLY OR MICROPHONE DIRECTLY UNDERNEATH THE IPAD'S SPEAKER.
THE SOLO LAST TWO NOTES PLAYED ON THE IPAD DIDN'T EVEN PRODUCE.
ASHLEY SIMPSON WILL LOVE THIS.

Very tight.
Please get over the Joosl Holland fixation.
He was a great keyboardist for Squeezed but abandoned the band twice.
