  • I had an opportunity to see this guy in Baltimore, MD on this past Saturday (June 26, 2010). It was a joy and privaledge to be a part of this experience. I couldn't sit still myself!!

  • (Amen) I really enjoy listen to the hymn choirs. I can't understand why alot of churches down south are tryin to totally remove hymns. This is what I grew up hearing at church and this is something I'll never break away from. Mr. Andy sings that hymn...

  • that's all right!

  • Go head Cousin Andy

  • Now This Is Old Time Church Right Here !

  • Pops set that thing down at 5:31 ! Glory!

  • How I miss these days when the songs had such strong meanings. Boy do this bring back memories, how I wish I could go back to these days, church now don't sing like this anymore..

  • For most of my childhood, I came up in the Apostolic Pentecostal church, but I was born Baptist and spent a few formative years in the AME Church. I absolutely LOVE the old school hymns....may they live on!

  • I can sit and listen to these songs all day long, if time would permit. I don't think I have ever heard Andy sing a song that he didn't put his complete self into and Christian Home Baptist Church is willing to follow him up with giving their all. Thank you God for such a willing choir to give You all the praise and to share it with others.

  • Me too, me too. Happy to share. And yes that was uncle Ron on I'm a soldier. ((I've adopted myself into the family too))

  • @Hymnchoir ..............ME TOOOOOO. THIS SONG HAS KEPT ME FROM LOSING MY MIND MANY OF TIMES.......

  • They Did It How The Slaves Used To Do It...Thats wuts running through our vains..those songs brought us a mighty long way..AMEN

  • It is our heritage. It's in our memory if we dig deep, it's still in their. I thank God for this.

  • This is great. Dr. L.D. Parker is in the preacher of the hour as it looks. Please post him. He is dead now, but when I was a boy he would come to my church First Primitive Baptist in Concord NC, and preach a 5 nights every summer.

  • Now...this is some down home music........the children of God are giving Him the praise....through there experiences in this world below.....they are really giving Him all the honor.......I would really like to hear "We come here today to honor the lamb...honor the lamb...honor the lamb....we come here today honor the lamb ....honor the lamb....and let me rise and run along home..honor the lamb ....honor the lamb...let me rise and run along home....honor the lamb...etc........chorus.....

  • Is that the real name of the church " Mt Do Well Baptist Church", if so where is this church?.

  • Yes. see below. I also sent you a msg...

  • @lovejones238 Yes, that is the real name. The church is located in McConnells, South Carolina.

  • Greetings, Whats name and location of this church/choir

  • Yes. It is on Hwy 321 in McConnells,SC which is just outside of Rock Hill, and about 35 minutes or so south of Charlotte.

  • I love that lil dip he do at 5:32-35!!

  • lol!!

  • Thanks for sharing this. It really moved my soul. From a Kentucky Pentacostal.

  • ...haunting

  • its so good to see an uplifting video

  • that is my daddy on the front row!!! get it daddy!

  • Awesome. Praise the LORD.

  • All I can say is thank you Jesus!!!

I have been listening to these videos all day!!! Members of my family were original members of Mt Do Well and my grandfather built some of the original stuff. I am over 50.

To just stumble across this today has been a great blessing and I can't wait to share them with friends and some of the younger members of our contemporary church.

    Please, please, please post more!!!!!!!!!

Was that Rev Parker on the pulpit in one of the videos from Charlotte?

  • Happy to share. To God be the glory. Yes, that was Rev. Parker!

  • Go head and work.

  • You are so right! I was raised in the type of environment myself. Baptist and COGIC and I got a rich heritage of music styles. Being white it's pretty unusual. My father preached in many African American churches and we learned this style of worship. It's the attitude of the heart. Not the style. Some newer songs don't have the strength in the lyrics.

  • Sounds like this can only come from the tribe of Judah....praise yah!

  • Wonderful! If anyone can post "When I Hear That Trumpet Sound!", I'd be forever grateful. Thank you.

  • I hope we never loos our roots. I'm with modern but we can't forget this.

  • It's offering time.

  • I loved that !!

  • I love this kind of worship! Where is this church? This type of sing certainly puts one in the presence of the Father!!!montellia62

  • It is so great to happen upon these Hymn Choirs... Being a traditional Baptist, I often debate with my friend from "Word" Churches over what kind of music brings one into God's presence...My argument is that it is the sincerity of one's heart as one worships and not a music style (Contemporary Praise & Worship) that brings one in to the presence of the Lord....God inhabits the praises of his people. This video proves just that. A hymn from the heart will take me "in" any day.

  • wow!! are there still churches like this nowadays? it's absolutely amazing touching spiritual. nothing's more nice to hear then the God given vocals of the human voice without accompaniment!!

  • OH MY GOD this is the type of CHURCH im talkin BOUT

  • Y'all better church! I love the lady saying "work hard!"

  • I know that's right.

  • This is truly great!!!! It is a shame we don't have more singing like this in the Baptist Church.

  • there is a lot of deep rooted tradition here. Thanks for share this vedeo. It makes me appriciated my heritage.

  • I like the way people participate. I would say they sing noisy but there is not chaos, they follow some beautiful pattern. There is not hysteria I think, a very particular and cultural way of worship they have.

The song is biblical and they sing it as they mean it.

  • This is how church should be every sunday...

  • No instrument needed and look how pure and true it is. Our GOD receives this worship the same way!!! GOD BLESS

  • My God, My God, My God! I felt the power of prasing and worhsipping. TRUE BBELIEVERS that Jesus is coming back like a theif in the night. This is truly rich and steep in tradition and history of our people with teh style of call and response. I am so glad that I found it during Black History. I will share it with family, freinds and my students. Where I can I get a whole copy of this? Will glady pay for a service of singing hymns.

  • absolutely amazing. speechless.

  • Beautiful. Brought tears to my eyes. Rich of ancestor spirituality and tradition.

  • Love this! Reminds me of a church I used to attend. Shows what you can do without a full band.

  • Thats exactly what i was thinking!!! No instrument needed and look how pure and true it is. Our GOD receives this worship the same way!!! GOD BLESS

  • AWESOME!!! This reminds me of the summers I spent with my grandparents in Liberty Hill, SC, and Byromville, GA. I WANT MORE MORE MORE.
