@jayynecobb then why do you watch this? Do all his fans a favor and stop watching his videos if all your gonna do is say horrible things about him and say tht you hate evrrything he does, cause it makes no sense -.-
@BeckahJackson this is youtube.. people come to vids for all kinds of reasons, including to say they dont like people.. i dont like him either, but he had a movie i liked long ago, i just cant remember what it was.. i think he was in college or something
THANKS for posting! Wacky stuff! A truly rarely seen Lewis flick. I have never seen it on TV nor available on home video. I've read this was a box office flop, resulting in poor Jerry's absence from the screen for 10 years (he worked on "The Day the Clown Cried" during that hiatus, but arguments between Jerry & his funding partners have prevented it from being shown). Sorry, Jer, but you don't look good in a beard.
@JubalCalif I taped it off the tv years ago....so funny :) has some great moments, like all his films...very under-rated...the timing of this film however (around 1969) condemned it to flop-dom, sadly.....go jerry!!!
@onthebrightsidevlog It has to be, they have the same style, plus the faces they both make are almost identical. I always thought Carrey's used Lewis for inspiration. Carrey probably grew up watching him.
Like many others on here I'd love to find the full movie of this gem on here. Or if not the scene with the "riding" dialogue when their car get stopped by the SS. What a crack-up!
lol! "Ven you read its with a book, Ven you write its with the pen, Ven you road its with the car. He's got the car, I've got the pen, you've got the book."
Something like that. That's also one of the best bits in the film.
Oh come on! I've searched my tit's off to find a dvd of this. They had better release it.
In the German version (yes, this movie did run in Germany!) the lines in this learning German-scene were replaced by military phrases and common commands. It was skillfully done, but still ... after the blunder the Germans did in their version of Die Hard, I prefer originals.
And it's funny to listen to JL trying to speak German (not that he's that good at it).
Perhaps... although it's quite sad to think that this level of comedic genius is subject to the ridiculous world of political correctness that we see today. That's like burning a book the day after it becomes a best seller. In my opinion, (insert flame here) to shun classic comedy such as this and that of many other legends because someone tells you it's wrong in today's world is truly a detriment the future of the art... we all lose. We need to embrace this type of work; it transcends.
mousey: Is there any chance you can post the scene from this film where the guy comes home with his wife and her mother and he takes off her coat for her and the buttons fly all over the place, then he makes her a sandwich all while being scared to death of her? Do I have the right film? I am desperately searching for that great scene. Hilarious!
lmao, I only searched this because I was thinking of that scene all day! for some reason that it so memorable, absolute quality, and this is definately my favourite Jerry Lewis film. Does anyone know where we CAN actually get this film. DVD or not...
Leewise: They walk in and he rips off mother-in-law's coat, she says "It wasn't unbuttoned yet". Then his wife says "Make me a sandwich" and when he says "Yes dear" the old bat says "Mother-in-law's come first". As he's spreading the mayonnaise he keeps stopping and looking in the other room all the while quaking with fear. This is that film, right?
...He makes the sandwhich in a mad hurry, then his mother comes in and takes it off him. She looks at it and says: "No Jelly on Mother's Peanut Butter. A Mother is blood, THAT is a stranger!" :D :D :D
What a scene! I also loved the idea that he goes into a fit every time he hears the word "rejection". But they only used that at the beginning of the film, they should have carried it on towards the end aswell. At least one of his friends in the film mocks it XD
Leewise: YES! That is the rest of the scene that I couldn't remember. And I had it wrong, the old bat was HIS mother. Where can we find this scene? I know, buy the DVD, right?

What an idiot. He's a complete ass in real life, too. Just check what he gets paid to to the MDA telethon. He demands more every year.
Ive never laughed once at any of his movies. It was the ONLY thing on TV in the 70s. I hate TV now because of it.
