These are great tutorial videos! Without them, I'm not sure I would have known where to begin when I first installed this game a couple of weeks ago! By now, I've pretty much got the hang of family life, local trade and commerce, etc. I'm still trying to figure out how the guild contracts, sending resources to other towns, etc. work; but my character recently got elected Patron Guild Elder for Bergen without even trying, so I'd best get to work on that intercity commerce stuff...
thanks sooo much! This game is not as intuitive as others like the Sid Meiers games-- yet it had not a single scrap of paper for a guide! Would have quit playing is you hadn't done this tutorial!
I when I guard the manual item or with the Q Item puts me " guarded " and then I am going to " to load item " and not this one guarded ... answer me thank you
@TheCherry1994 Nope - and I agree it's annoying. You can however set the AI to control sales; but that in general will mean they send the stuff out on carts, which they never seem to protect well enough.
@smunn02 not for me, mine buy escorts whether i have money or not :S always drains out my resources when they do it seeing as every path I've taken they always gather resources or make something that gives near nothing compared to what i could do if i controlled it but I'm usually too busy setting up something on the side or courting a woman :S
@sadknife In your patron character's action buttons at the bottom of your screen, there should be a small section specifically for his/her profession - near the buttons for goad workers / pay bonus - there'll probably only be one of them, with the others available when you click it. You should see Sow Crops and Animal Husbandry. If you see Sow Crops (I think it'll be in green but could be yellowy-gold), click it and click the field. It should ask you what you want to grow. Confirm & it should go
@smunn02 Haha, thanks I didn't notice it before, now the only problem is how do you know who's entitled to vote during an election? because it seems you can't bribe during the meeting anymore..
@sadknife Go to the office list and right click on the office you want to apply for - it should tell you the responsibilities, cost of applying and who votes for it. Getting rid of bribery etc during meetings was one of the worst moves they made, sadly.
@smunn02 I tried holding the right mouse button and clicking it with and without my character but when I click it without my character it only puts the tab away, hold it and it shows the character holding the office's information, click it with my character makes him run over the the guy...
@sadknife Try doing it via the town hall; go to apply for an office and then hold right mouse down over whichever office you want to know about - it should give you all the info, from what I remember
@TheCherry1994 You can select AI for sales and set the sales price to 150% and every other setting to manual. That way the cart will only take things to market when sales prices are through the roof (which is usually never in my experience).
THANK YOU. I'm a huge fan of the first game, but the second I started playing this one I was just completely clueless as to what on Earth I was supposed to do and how.
@evilbryan590 There isn't a way, nor should there be one. If there's two of you playing at the same time on seperate systems, then buy a copy each. I'm not sure when the CD will be out, check Amazon..they usually have a decent release date.
@TheNorskestolthet Your action bar at the bottom gives some actions such as compliment, insult and so on - however you can't talk in the conventional sense, unless you're in a multiplayer.
smunn02, you are a game saver. One other thing that I came across that I am unsure about. I bought up all of the fruit at the Cologne market to make alcohol with but then the market never replenished its supplies. I thought after the changing of seasons it would, but it's still at 0. Does it ever replenish? How do I get fruit and other goods after they've ran out at the market?
@runtheplacered It could be a bug, or possibly that the AI isn't selling. Find the orchard on the map - if there isn't one, then one needs making (probably going to be your job, hehe). If there is one, open it up and see if they're selling directly from the orchard (in which case you can send your cart directly there). At the market, you may have to either wait and keep checking the stall; or try in a different town. Some resources are very scarce at the beginning of a game.
Thanks. I waited a few more seasons and fruit never became available. I noticed something else, though. I decided to take my cart to Dusseldorf to buy fruit there.. but even they were completely out of fruit. I wonder if the AI buys up goods, too? Anyway, I did not try going directly to an orchard.. didn't even know it was an option. I will try that. This game is definitely much more fun thanks to your help!
@runtheplacered Glad to help :) Yes, the AI buys items - often very fast, in the case of weapons and armour. To test if it's a bug or not, it might be worth trying to build an orchard and see if you can harvest fruit - if you can't, it's a bug and needs reporting on the Steam forums.
Thanks smunn02. Finally the inn started taking off a bit.. but then war broke out and 3 guys came by and started punching my inn and throwing fire at it. And then they kicked my butt when I tried to defend it. This has actually happened to me in two games in a row now effectively ending my career as it began. How do I go about defending myself this early in the game?
@runtheplacered Build as close to the market as possible so there are some guards around to help out; and when it gets attacked there'll be a new action button for the building - call guards or raise alarm or similar. Click that and some should come along; otherwise send your guy out to fight them - if they're attacking the building they shouldn't retaliate while you beat them to bits.
I tried putting porridge into the sales stock but nobody ever bought any of it. What am I doing wrong? I am actually following your tutorial exactly... except maybe my pub is located in a slightly different space in Cologne.. would that matter?
@runtheplacered That could well be yes, especially if it's a higher level pub than yours (ie if its an Inn). Also, Cologne isn't a very large town (if it's the map I'm thinking of) so things won't sell very fast anyway. What you could do to try and rectify this is to check out the building improvements and make sure it's got as high an "attractiveness to customers" as possible, and make sure there's a variety of things for people to buy - ie porridge and beer :)
there is a thing that i cant get right ....wich is the "hut" ...guess is the name .... and i have a trade screen where it appear the load unload crap ....i press in the load and select our building and escort whatever i have to trade ....then i click next building and select the market and unload ....but the freking tradin car .....dont do what i want .............................
anyway my question is .....what do i have to do to make a trade
@9934888363 If you mean taking goods to market, send the cart to market, then select the market and manually empty the cart by dropping the items in it into the slots of the market. If might not work if you have your business AI options set to control trading, it needs to be manual or the computer may just recall the cart.
Thank you mate this helped me to decide to buy the game=) Have a question tho...Does the game work without the original Guild 2 game and other expansions installed? OR only buying the guild 2:reneissaince is enough for me to play =) cheers
@aphelion007 It's a standalone game; you don't need the original or other EPs installed - it includes all the maps etc from all 3 games plus some new ones, although it doesn't include the new professions from Venice (or, I think, Pirates). Glad it helped :)

You can tell the cart to load certain foods and deliver them to the market.

is it possible to place the food automatically in the sales stock? it's annoying to do this manually
