  • The lottery is a tax on people who are bad at math.

  • @epipheo What program do you use to make all these animations? They are great!

  • And somehow Trump couldn't keep his casino from going bankrupt.

  • If you lose, you spontaneously combust.

  • @qqqq160 If you win aswell! :)

    Except for the casino owner...

  • ..........and that is wats wrong with this country.

  • Since you cannot legally tax someone for being a total fucking moron, the lottery was invented to do just that, but LEGALLY!

  • casinos make tons of money by allowing dim wits to play and kick ppl who knows the system. simple yet effective

  • You know, having just watched this video again. I do not agree with it because ultimately money isn't what makes people happy, however they get it! Just look at the suicide rates in rich countries vs poor ones.

  • @MrBenMcLean We definitely agree that money doesn't make happiness. In the case of the folks in the vid who win, it's just a momentary happiness, not likely to prove lasting. For the others, it's an illusory happiness that they never even attain. The point is that a casino's pretty much a cheat for everyone but the casino owners.

  • @epipheo Were did you get the music? It's great.

  • I would like to mention that I enjoy a good game of cards, but just playing for chips, not for real dough! I only regard playing for real money as "gambling"

  • @Yowzoe yeah well that's the idea. I am including the lottery in what I describe as "gambling" In fact I am thinking mainly of it, as it is the most tax-like form of gambling.

  • I love the song~

  • So the people that don't win burn in hell? We

  • the music...I know it but I can't remember where I heard it ! does anybody know it ? nice video by the way ! :)

  • Aha! Sexism! Only females won! Lol

  • @mcj108 yeah this video gives females ideas, they should be staying in the kitchen

  • @themanmoore:.............................

  • @mcj108 LMFAO

  • @mcj108 But you're the one being sexist. Why can't men wear dresses? xD

  • In fairness, casinos do not end up keeping 55% of the money that goes into them. House edge is closer to 5%.

The video above is much more accurate when considering lotteries.

  • Gambling is a tax on poor people who can't do math.

  • @MrBenMcLean A corollary: a lottery is a tax on the naive.

  • Yeah, and then our state governments take the money from the casino. So it's an indirect tax on stupid people. No wonder politicians love them.

  • lol, awesome animation. How true.

  • tooo didactic

  • it is called "how casino's work - a short explanation"

    it was intended to teach...

  • Well of course it was intended to... And it fails in its aim because it makes it argument too didactically, i.e., moralistically with a wagging of the finger, hammer-over-the-head. Which is only pleasing to people already on the same side of the argument as the teacher. The most likely response of the intended audience, who are being "taught at", is to tune out what is being said, Which I don't think was the filmmaker's desire. Google "pace and lead".

  • I regularly go to casinos and almost always make enough to cover the trip's cost and you present the experience as strictly slot machines which give the house the biggest advantage. Hold 'em and Blackjack are where people with more than two brain cells have a much better shot at winning pots and bets if they know how to play. I thought the video was incredibly stupid and looked like it took ten minutes to produce btw.

  • 10 minutes? 10 minutes? !!!!!

unless u can prove it, i won't buy it.

  • lol very patronizing but great!
