Since nothing was getting down there to the fires (again, due to the steel acting as insulation) the fires grew hotter and hotter (like a teapot, basically). They (the fires) rose to the temperature to melt steel, and thus, molten pools of steel. Make sense now?

As a result the fires could have easily reached temps sufficient to melt steel, not to mention most other metals found in the buildings

@colintheman You're not understanding what I'm saying. Let's look at it simply. The fires were at the bottom of the rubble, under thousands and thousands of tons of steel. This steel was insulation. Since nothing was getting down there to the fires (again, due to the steel acting as insulation) the fires grew hotter and hotter (like a teapot, basically). They (the fires) rose to the temperature to melt steel, and thus, molten pools of steel. Make sense now?

I will however ask you why many firemen have said, "explosions" were going off. People came out of the elevators on fire, with skin falling off from severe burns.
you can witness this in videos used in court cases. official FBI evidence.

@cozmicnick Canisters such as fire extinguisher's , when under high temperatures the liquids inside them begin to expand into a gas causing EXTREMELY HIGH PRESSURE , when that pressure gets too much for the canister to handle believe me they go FUCKING BOOM.
