@lipertlippy As far as I know, you can only control your own actions. So start with yourself? Try to consume less or no animal products. Consume less in general so we won't deplete and pollute the earth's resources that other animals require. Be selective in goods you do buy. Set an example yourself and spread the word to others. Corporations can't survive without consumers. That's all I got, but you know, many significant historical movements began with but a handful of people. ;)

Actually Orangutans don't have 5 times the strength of man man pound for pound. Firstly there has never been a study of orangutan strength in a laboratory setting, you're thinking of chimps. And secondly, chimps are not that strong.

The discrepancy in Bauman's 1923 and 1926 experiments that gave tha anomalously high strength reading was do to experimental error(the chimps were allowed to throw their weight into the pulling apparatus). Latter studies found that male chimps are 5-12% stronger by weight, however since chimps are smaller they are still weaker than a fit human male. The females are as strong as human females.
Remember that orangutan males can reach 400lbs in weight, so they appear stronger.

@vgman94 Pain and pleasure have no value, only utility matters. We preserve children for the utility they will have when they mature, even if they are not sapient until they are 3-4 years old. The retarded are preserved out of the hope that they can be repaired and therefor have utility. A mental deficiency is not really difference from an injury, we just don't know how to repair it yet.
But animals are not deficient, they are as smart as they can ever be and they are still not smart enough.

Guys, i have problem, when dealing with alot of the arguements presented to me about animal rights i am able to give a clear and logical argument in return, but what does one say to "god put the animals on earth for us to use as we will" or "god placed us above the animals" i myself am an agnostic of sorts but when dealing with christians this is a brick wall, and all i can say is "Im sure that a benevolent god would not condone killing in any way." but what can you really say?
