I liked it, but it botheres me that u think that the key goes on the right, pls keep it on the left. I kno this cuz my family has owned one for years and I kno because it is all stock and the key Is SUPPOSSED to go on the left
people have pronounced Willys both ways, I'll admit John Willys did pronounce his name "Willis" and not "Willies", I just pronounce it "Willies" becouse calling someone Billi or Willi just ain't right.
@balboa62 Go talk to a history teacher, idiot. Wikipedia for Willys-Overland has phonetic as "Will-is". The page for John Willys, founder of Willys-Overland, on wiki as the phonetic "Will-iss". You have been summarily pwned, as the saying goes.
Alaskan geologist, who knows how to pronounce something better than a Colorado English Teacher.
@bigguy6100 I suppose that is one thing that will be one of the things that will always be argued, same goes for the origin of the name Jeep. which by the way I hold o the Eugene theory.
"Willys" is pronounced "Willis", not "willies"...thanks. :D
Nice Willys though, I hope to pick one up and restore it someday myself. check your front caster to help fix that death wobble. Maybe tossing on a track bar would help as well.
check the brakes, sometimes the drums need balanced as in my cj-5 (1968) that was one and other times its just stuff in the tire.... all depends realy
Thanks, its been sitting in my shop for about a year, and now its out getting everything fixed to make it road worthy, and should be back in a few weeks
Not really actually. Some had manual wipers on the passenger side, and originally the drivers side had vacuum wipers, where a line ran from the vacuum system up to the control box. The Merc still has vacuum wipers, and they still work
The clicking in the motor is probably the valve tappet clearence. My old jeep also sounded like that untill i used a guage size .014 under the 8 tappets. All you need to do is take the valve cover on the side of the motor off and adjust each tappet. that may clear the noise.
Thats a nice jeep you got there. I also collect jeeps. I got a 1948 Willys overland CJ2A and rebuilt the motor and i am working on the trans along with the body and suspension. They sure are fun. Willys jeeps are my most favorite vehicle in the world!
The guy I bought it from had painted it. He said when he got it, it was army colors, so he painted over it blue. When it came from the factory it was red.

@balboa62 One more thing: If you were indeed an english teacher, you fail.
"It is pronounced, as flatfender states, "willies". But I guess anyone can be a teacher nowadays, can't they?
