This is actually about PTSD, "Lay down your arms, give up the fight" "Did you try to live on your own, When you burned down the house and home" PTSD is post traumatic stress disorder, Many soldiers have it who get out of wars when their close colleigues have died. Sad stuff i know, this song is a very sad song.
