La vi en televisión, traducida al español, y me encantó. El reto sería quién interpretaría a Chaplin porque él era un excelente actor, Robert Downey Jr. lo hizo muy bien (los dos se parecen mucho)

Incluso cuando actuaba como el Vagabundo era muy parecido a él.

Es tan conmovedor el comienzo, cuando él se saca el maquillaje con tristeza, demostrando que no era tan cómico.

The opening sequence is pure art, so raw, so real. It is my favourite part of the entire film, it just captures so well his success but also his many anxieties in youth. I have read Chaplin’s autobiography and I would recommend it to anyone.

the photos of the real Charlie Chaplin always had a smile on his face. that chirpy cheerful look. Here in this film, he is portrayed not smiling often throughout. always sad. hmm i guess this movie is suppose to look at how he really felt. his true feelings.

@wmasque its called cold cream still available today a well known brand is "ponds" this brand has been around for many many years and i believe was and is still used in the theatre to remove stage makeup... it was very popular in and out of the theatre

Hehe, kinda the same happent to me, was watching Chaplin, Buster Keaton, Laurel and Hardy so long back than i can remember, then about 4 years ago when i was around 16 i suddenly felt very curious about the little man with a bowler, mustache and cane again. And now i got all his movies, his Autobiography alot of posters and i cant get enough of him ^^ He's the greatest person i know

Its all about the money in life, true enough.

Depend how you look at it, my opinion is that Chaplin's art is above even damn good films that are made in the last 50's years, a film like "What's eating Gilbert Grape" which is damn good film. But Chaplin's stuff (Buster Keaton aswell when we comes to it) is the art of Slapstick, an almost forgotten sort of comedy, and Chaplin really showed the true love in his movies. So yes, it is besides Chaplin's films.

Yes, it's a great film. To me, Diane Lane as Paulette Goddard is horribly miscast. The are both my favs, but come on.

Jennifer Love Hewitt as Audrey Hepburn=perfection. That makes sense. But Diane as Paulette. They just wanted another big star. It would have been better to search, find, and cast an unknown who most resembled Paulette.

Also, Anthony Hopkins is in it for no reason but star power. He plays a made up person, who never existed. That is just redundant. Chaplin wrote it alone.

I do agree. Ive watched up until part 9 now which is where Lane comes in and you are right. I think she is miscast.

I was observing Robert D Jr and his mannerisms and you can tell he must have really studied Chaplins movies and his body language because Chaplin comes out in Jr's acting to near perfection at times, so he was great for the role. but..nothing out of Diane, .Shame really!

True, Jennifer was perfect as Audrey (The right speciel accent and everything) Diane did a fine job though, but yea they probaly could have found someone who might fit even better. But then again RDJ reminds me more of Buster Keaton than Chaplin, no doubt he is looking alot like Chaplin, but RDJ is born to look more like Keaton than chaplin i think. (I'm talking without make-up)

But i still think this movie is one of the best ever made.
