Thanks for posting that. I rode that line, most days, for over 30 years, from Central Ave., and I think it's the greatest little transit line in the world.
do those have a/c or heat? (Just wondering because this is the only line that I've never been on before. well, i have riden the red line before but anyways....) weather can be brutal cold in mass during winter and humidity can be uncomfoortable in the summer.
@ReccaDreamer The PCCs have always had heat, but just recently (2008) they retrofitted AC onto them. They are the large white things you see on the roof.
They are Orange because that was the color of these trolleys originally when they arrived in the 1940s. They have restored them to be historically accurate. If you look, they even have the old MTA map logo on the side instead of the modern T in a circle.
Not always, they were this color on the Green line for most of their lives, it was only later (the 70s and early 80s) that they were ever painted green.
Great video, I remember these on the Green Line when I lived in Boston in the '80s. San Francisco runs all PCC cars on their Market Street F line, painted in the original color scheme of the city they originally came from.
These are really great cars, and for me bring back a lot of good memories from when I was a kid. To me this what a trolley car is supposed to look and sound like.
i live right in front of ashmont trolley line and it annoys me at night! got used to it though

Why don't they paint them red, because it's the red line.
