I hate the H4. Its very cheap in the build quality and the handling is a catastrophe.

bought one odf these used about a year and a half ago. the condensers are GREAT from recording live sound- even for a heavy metal band like mine. and the 4 tracking is easy! a very smart buy.

Depends what you want to do with it, I suppose. If stuff like 4-track recording and XLR inputs with phantom power are critical, get the H4. If not, the H2 should be fine.

what he said, plus you've got to take into account the H2 has 360 mics, whereas the H4 has directional mics. so it depends if you're recording ambient music/sounds or from a single source

HEADS UP:

To get the unit to work with Vista, simply remove the batteries and power supply, then let the USB power the device. I did this, and everything works perfectly.

There are currently no drivers for this device with Vista, but i've found if you try to hook it up a couple of times it usually works anyway.

Not strictly true. Providing you have USB2.0 the speed will vary depending on the type of SD card you have.

To be honest it couldn't be simpler. You plug one end of the USB cable (USB A) connector into your computer, the other end (USB B) into your Zoom H4. Use the jog wheel on the side to highlight "CONNECT TO COMPUTER" and then push the jog wheel in for selection. Within a few seconds XP/OSx will recognise the device as a 'Mass Storage Device'. Your samples will be stored in the STEREO folder.
