I'm proud to have Hawaiian Koko, He Hawai'i mau a mau. And I'm so grateful that I was born into the land of Hawai'i, born with Kamehameha's blood running through my veins. I would happily die defending our culture and our people. Ola!
I love this guys music. I can't say I am from Hawaii. However, my family is from there going back 6 generations now. This culture is still alive and well within our family. Much love and respect.
why the fckn hell do you always have to make a social, racial, political, religious debate over such great things like this song? just stfu and enjoy this great song or skip it!
I may not be Hawaiian, but my family is from the Big Island. I support the independence movement, and my family's been treated like crap by the US government. Almost all of them I know were put in the Japanese internment camps (I'm Japanese/Chinese). Many of them still haven't received compensation. Free Hawai'i.
@SovereignHawaii ... im hawaiian, and what ur saying is going way too far. where already modernized, theres no turning back. if we turn back, were giving up electricity and other things shipped in. i believe we should have rights. i mean, we get crappy lands from the state for hawaiian home lands. we just got to stick together, make our culture pa'a. then, we start. bra, do you even speak hawaiian?
Great music performed by a great artist. I just discovered IZ and I'm scanning Youtube for all the great sounds he provided during his short time on earth. While his music puts a smile on my face, I have to say, I'm saddened at what the comment section below has to offer. It should be a place to honor the memory of a human being whom gave his soul through his music. Instead, the BLOGGGGGG below is full of ignorance. Youtube needs to monitor it's subject matter a little more closely.
@jbgrockin I agree! If Iz's "fans" think Iz was about hatred and bitterness... Well, they must have a different view on things. I took him for a peaceful, beautiful creature, full of talent and love. RIP, IZ! He's playing his ukulele and singing for God up in Heaven, I just know it!!
I was priviledged to travel to Hawaii, but when I saw what other races had done this this sacred spot on earth i was sickened. What had been beautiful jungle with exotic birds and flowers is now an ugly housing project for the super rich.
After reading the comments this video has generated, I must ask - If Hawai'i were to succeed from the Union and re-establish the Kingdom of Hawai'i, who would be Monarch? Is the bloodline of the original monarchy still existant? What would be the disposition of all "Non-Hawai'ian" peoples who are citizens of current state? Through the U.S. military out? Not opposed, but questions I've not seen answered. I've run out of space, so can't adequatly say more...
@mrkeel2 Yes the Bloodline is still true. My line says that I was a great great great great grand nephew of King Kamehameha himself. If Hawaiians got the land back yes we would throw everyone else out or at least silence their voices. We should have a round table for Hawaiians were Hawaiians would get to make the decisions. Not haoles. No more hotels on sacred lands and restore Hawaii back to its natural beauty.
@SovereignHawaii Would you throw out people BORN there? You have to factor in that homeland is where you're born, that's the land usually that you would have the strongest attachment to. To throw out someone like that is unjust, and actually just discriminatory. Which is what you're against right? Injustice? And how would you feel if your voice was silenced? (You're free to say what you want, don't argue around that.)

I am proud to say that this is my culture.. this is my history... I want us to rise up and stand together... E ALA E... This is what keeps me strong... if you think america had the rights to do what they did.. YOU are just as mistaken and corrupt as they are... The white man will always prevail (in war and destruction) because they have no culture.. they have no problem destroying anything for money (GENOCIDE is their greatest victory) ... they will NEVER be as strong or WHOLE as us... E ALA E
@alohalani44 While I do agree that what the whites did to Hawai'i is ABSOLUTELY despicable, not all white people are bad, just like not all Hawai'ians are good. You simply cannot judge all of one race based on mistakes by their ancestors. To do so would make us all very bitter, and we would never achieve peace. I don't think Iz would appreciate that way of thinking, either.
i think it's funny to see people talking about hawaiian independence, considering a territory becomes a state through a voting and application process ... so that means a majority on hawaii wanted to cement their ties to the u.s. not weaken them. next subject please.
@timothyand well just to let you know you're wrong. the people who voted for Hawai'i to become a state were the same people who took it over. The Queen and the people of Hawai'i never wanted the Kingdom to become one with the United States. It was our intention to coexist but never become part of the United States. Maybe you should read about what happened before you come to you're conclusion.
@DodoProductions2011 bro population changes, displacements, movements in and out of regions have existed as long as human beings have. same goes with hawai'i. get over it. having said that, your response was a bunch of specious generalizations. the people who voted to become a state were the people who lived in hawai''i at the time (like 60 years ago) this includes the children of whites, chinese, japanese, and everybody else ... call it taking over if you want, but those are the people.
@timothyand True about the first part. But get over it?! I fucked your mom.....ok about 3secs past there it's old now get over it. And you really know nothing about Hawaii's history. Even if you did research the internet only has so much info. A lot of things aren't documented. Don't talk about Hawaii like you know it.
@hawaiian96chence "i fucked your mom ..." nice one. but, but, but, i've read james michener, too!!! yeah man, there is nothing unique about conquered peoples suffering, so get over it and look to the future. as for your other remarks ... shakabra.
@timothyand Haha "so get over it" So are you suggesting that we forget the past?! To let go of everything long ago?! Then explain to me why we have Social Studies, History ect. as subjects in school. "Shakabra" wtf lol?? And the U.S. is a #FAIL period.
@hawaiian96chence try and remember what this conversation is about, brother: whether or not hawaii's statehood should be up for debate, as if the united states forced the people of hawaii in 1959 to petition for statehood, and vote to join the union. it's a bit more complicated than "those fing haoles were mean to us," wouldn't you say? i'm done talking with you, you have the attention span of an ant. you chat a ur mouth. and you need to start listening.
@timothyand read what u wrote "bro population changes, displacements, movements in and out of regions have existed as long as human beings have" Displacements are caused by many things like genocide, overthrows, and war not because a race of people decide to get up and just suddenly go. Did the Native Americans displace themselves? Or how about the African People? And how about all the other millions of people that decide to get up and displace themselves everyday?
@timothyandby the way you're still wrong about the people who voted Hawai'i to become a state. Dude, read up and down this page I've challenged every single person about the matter and no one has come back with anything that's even remotely worth my time. I can't blame you guys though all of you were brainwashed from kids by our Government to think a certain way, to live a certain why through media, music, movies, tv. Its all propaganda, and i see through it. so whoever wants to step up bring it
@DodoProductions2011 bro, i'm not arguing the morality of the tragedies you just listed. i'm saying that they are not unique in the course of human history, but i don't expect you to understand, you displayed an ability to completely misunderstand everything, anyway. i have a feeling that the reason nobody's comments are worth your time, is because you don't listen. i don't even think you know what YOUR point is. what is it, by the way? step up bring it? ha! hooray for internet anonymity, right?
@timothyand well of course its not, history repeats itself because humans do the same shit over and over again. i do understand what you're saying, i understand what everyone is saying. you know what how about this, i hope China swoops in and lays this country on its ass so everyone is displaced, China takes the land, enslaves the American people, destroys the American culture and way of life. Then come talk to me after, all of you. Then you will know what my people have been through.
@timothyand I will put it to you this way. Did the Hawaiians initiate the application process to become a state? A territory? Why would they, give up all entitlements to land they have and own, to someone else? Have you watched Princess Kai'ulani? One of the stipulations to vote, they had to own land. Tell me, if the US today, had that very same stipulation, how many people wouldn't be qualifited to vote? You think that's ok? Libya's people decide their fate, we should also, not non-hawaiians.
@hankakah The non Hawiians arguing here should first read some history. Maybe they could start with Wilcox and The Bayonet Constitution before they put in their 10 cents worth. No I'm not Hawiian, but I was taught WORLD history in school in England, and that included Hawiian history. What was done in Hawii was/is disgusting. It should be put right. As to the appology from Clinton " Words without deeds etc.
@mauiwhales1 thank you very much, as you prove that there are more than just Hawaiians that feel this was a great injustice. Actually one of the few countries we do like is England, the only ones who gave Hawai'i back to us. That's why the British Union Jack in the corner of the Hawaii Flag, that's why we are patterened after the monarchy of England. And for those who think that this is ok, would it be ok to put a gun to your mom's head, rape her, steal her house, her land, then say you own it?
@hankakah : I agree and its so sad that the so called country of freedom took Hawaii and if only England would have stayed there would be a gentler way of life and less commercialised misery. We feel the same in Tahiti the British sadly left and the French took over and though the French and the US hate each other perhaps its because their both alike somewhat. Most here wish that Britain had stayed and we would have had a better freer and gentler society & less commercial greedy misery.
@timothyand You my friend are IGNORANT. You're the kind of people that us Hawaiian's despise. No, we did not vote to become a state, understand and research your history. It was taken, people were killed, people lost their lands and with that, their right to vote. They forced the king to sign a constitution that gave the hawaiians less rights and when the queen tried to restore the hawaiians rights, they locked her up. It's history is disgusting, so before you open your mouth, do some research!
@MissLindsayWong ignorant? hardly. your conflating your history. it might all seem like a part of the same injustice, but it's not. as for despising me, i don't think you even know what that word means, but i bet you'd love me if i pay top dollar for hula lua, like a japanese tourist, even if i was taking a shit on you behind your back. anyway, i will say based on your last name, ms. yellow, your family has been the beneficiary of the same history you condense into "haoles are mean." hypocrite.
@timothyand For your information, I do'nt dance hula for money, I dance to perpetuate. Oh and also, "Wong" is my stepgrandfather's last name, therefore, I don't even come from a line of "Wong's", It's Kihoi. And did I say "Haoles are mean"? no i did not. So don't speak like you know me. You just claimed that my ancestor's AGREED to become a state, which is false. KNOW your history before you make comments like that, because there's a long line of Hawaiian koko that will educate your ignorant self
@MissLindsayWong like i said, your FAMILY was the beneficiary, you reject your stepgrandfather, but you wear his name? you misunderstand what i wrote, and you don't understand your own opinions. i didn't say YOUR ancestors did shit, i said the residents of HAWAI'I petitioned for statehood in 1954. that's it. and either your education or your I.Q. prevents you from understanding. as for ignorance, i'll put my pedigree up against yours, any day you hill dwelling, poi pounding, tourist attraction.
@timothyand I don't understand what you mean by that, i was correcting you and you talk back thinking you know..ha, okay. You know what's funny by the whole "residents of hawai'i", they forced the king to sign a constitution stating that if they don't own land they can't vote and since majority of the foreigners took the land, who do you think "voted" to become a state? It's sad that you talk shit to people who are proud of their heritage and want nothing but to defend whatever is left..
The Hawaiian Kingdom is the rightful rulers of the Hawaiian islands. Shame on the United States for taking not just the Hawaiians freedom away but all the other cultures and races they stole from. And shame on us Hawaiians that don't do anything about it we need to rise together and fight our common enemy. There is a way that the United States and The Hawaiian Kingdom can coexist but the United States needs to do whats right and give the Hawaiian islands back to the Hawaiian Kingdom.
hahahaha...your funny insults do not affend me so take that crap else where just remember who defended that island during a little episode called Pearl Harbor thousands of true blue AMERICANS died on that day. It's AMERICAN haters like you that want peace and free love but don't want to put in the work to get it.let me guess you are unemployed and on wellfare maybe food stamps? i may not be able to spell good but you sir are the ignorant one have a nice life.
@LOYD196 Leave us Hawaiians alone! AMericans are Imperialists. What they have is just not enough! You they took our lands and made up bullshit to the president that hawaii was full of disorder and anarchy! They put a gun up to the queen and forced her to hand over the Kingdom of Hawaii... Then after that you massacured the 200 militia and gaurds in nu'uanu. WTf is that?!? Americans have no place in hawaii! SO FUCK OFF!!! GOD FUCKTHE USA! HAWAIIANS WILL NEVER ACCEPT AMERICANS NEVER! SO GET OUT!!
Nobody is picking on the Hawaiians dumb ass, i love the culture and everythinf it has to offer,if it wasnot for the AMERICANS Hawaii would still be a third world country we have given aid to every disaster the islands have incountered. You sound muslim? Im AMERICAN and what i have is plenty,Where do you live?(AMERICA perhaps?) you uncle tom judis peice of shit..........you get out of AMERICA THEN TALK YOUR SHIT KEYBOARD COWBOY
@LOYD196 And so the fuck what? At least we would have been a free people! If it wasn't for the United States, Hawai'i would of been more beautiful, the people and our language would be thriving! You can tell how this country and its people are so far up their ass with materialistic things and money. Life isn't about that shit. Too be honest with you and the rest of America can take all you're technology, money, and whatever else and leave. I'll be more happy with my grass hut and bananas haha.
@MendelGrummanF22z808 way to go brother...not enuff room in america, got to bring their sad as shit there...steal your land...we have the same thing here in nz...but the british...whiteyes all the same, oppressor's the lot of them!
@iroam57 So very true! They are always acting like theyre so superior! They cant even live off the land without destroying it! They can't survive without theyre fucked up technology!
@LOYD196 that's all you white eyes are good for, ignorance and if shit don't go ur way everyone else is on welfare, who bought the fucken welfare state there? oh yeah americans....don't u comprehend idiot, u are foreigners!!! or like us maori's call u "tauiwi'. Pearl Harbor u say, why do u think that happened? ahhh durr, the american naval base was there, that's why...move it to california....than tell them to bomb that lot...mutha grubba!
@DodoProductions2011 And what? Move the Naval Base and one of their most valuable tourist resources? Hawaii will never be sovereign until capitalism is dead. That is your common enemy you need to rise against.
@Yankpats The naval base doesn't even belong here, nothing of the United States belongs here. You get rid of the illegal occupation of the United States, you get rid of capitalism. Hawai'i isn't a tourist attraction, its a place of beauty, rich culture, and a unique way of life. These things are not tourist attractions, we shouldn't have to play the puppets for other peoples enjoyment.
I learned of Hawiian history in school, in England in the 1950's. Iam so sorry you are not free to govern yourselves. I love your islands, and I know a tiny bit of some of what goes on there. Again, Iam so sorry.
A man with such spirit lives for ever... even in myself; although I have a completely different backgrown, I know his spirit lives through mine in some way or another.
The Hawaiian People Still Have Pride in OUR race, IZ LIVES FOREVER IN OUR HEARTS, his message was one of love and open arms, There are Haoule's who have been Hanai to Hawaiian Families who have taught them our ways, its to inform not to create problems.
Although I'm not Hawaiian and I don't understand this song at all. But I feel a lot of feelings and souls in this song. I don't know why my eyes start to tear out. I don't cry....it is my feeling exploded. Maybe I start to love you 'IZ'.
@1chichimec1 How are you gonna say something hateful and racist on an IZ video I understand it is you opinion but it didn't happen while you were growing up just like so just listen to IZ and think brother.
For those that don't know how the Hawaiians lost their kingdom, which was recognized by many other countries at the time, Japan, Russia, Britain, America.
I know it's hollywood but watch the movie Princess Kai'ulani. They don't represent all the facts, but does provide some insight as to how the kingdom was stolen, by force. The missionary families who came here to teach the pagans their faith became the biggest land owners. You could vote for Annexation if you owned land, hawaiian's didn't.
@littlegirl2010100 I'll go one further, the US should end the territorial status of Puerto Rico. Nothing personal against the people, but its just a financial drain.
This song cries out for freedom for the Native Hawaiian people! Too long have they been oppressed by others. The US overthrew the Queen in 1893, marines aided a few US sugar plantation owners who claimed they feared for their lives. The US went to war with Germany, Japan, Italy, Korea, Vietnam, Iraq. Do these nations rule themselves? Would letting nonnationals determine the outcome for these nations? Why let non-Hawaiians vote for statehood, Only Hawaiian's should determine what is best for them
@hankakah im an american, however you are 1,000,000 % correct. Hawaii should be their own kingdom once again. Your history/race/ and culture is just amazing. Our US Gov't just screws it up
@brandonbauderske Mahalo, that's how IZ felt. He carried the weight of Hawaii on his shoulders, he spoke up about it. The Queen told her subjects not to attack the invaders, not to cause more bloodshed. She said that the Americans will see the wrongs, and justice will prevail. President Cleveland sent Blount to investigate and he agreed that the takeover was illegal. President Cleveland agreed that Hawaii should be given back, he was not reelected. IZ wants justice and freedom for his people!
@brandonbauderske about the government part, what else is new? Government has always screwed stuff up. what they gotta understand is everything was fine before they did anything to it. They thought making Hawaii part of the united states would make it better. What they didn't understand was that hawaii was just fine on its own.
@brandonbauderske i am an american. i am a hawaiian. i am a native american. i am 51% indigenous to this land. i am 49% foreign, as are most who live here. i honor all of my blood. i wish things were otherwise than what they are. i call upon my american heritage of not accepting what is, ....and effecting in any way i can, a change - kehaunani- for reading- 'bones of time' dont remember the author- very subtle interplay of 1800s hawaii and england and scotland... beautiful story
@hankakah you did your homework brah, let them think they got the upper hand, but they lack what every one of us has HERITAGE,CULTURE,TRADITION,AND OUR PRIDE!!!!!!! what do they have???
@chukylu President Clinton and Congress also passed an apology, recognizing that the overthrow of the queen would not have happened with the help of the US marines or their involvement. However the apology does Hawaiians no good, when more and more land is being sold, when numerous Hawaiians can't afford the rent, pay for their homes, work for others. Hawaii needs for something to be done, Hawaii should be for Hawaiians. Germany, Japan, Phillipines, Vietnam, South Korea, Iraq were all given back
Living a life full of opportunity in a land with the promise of racial unity overshadowed by a STEP-mother nation trying to straighten the path thats been woven through the ages of time to this place where we find, now a race that is dying, erased from the minds of the world prolificators WHO abolish dictators on SUBJECTIVE scales, but the ones with the weight to tip them escape jail!!! go to OVERTHROW-CHALLENGE koafrompauoa@youtube watch, listen, sing, and DEFEND...Ea
@parojones no, but one of my friends was related to him. I love him as a person, and I miss what he had to offer with his songs, his heart, and his love for his people.

E ALA E
alohalani44 6 months ago 21
@alohalani44 While I do agree that what the whites did to Hawai'i is ABSOLUTELY despicable, not all white people are bad, just like not all Hawai'ians are good. You simply cannot judge all of one race based on mistakes by their ancestors. To do so would make us all very bitter, and we would never achieve peace. I don't think Iz would appreciate that way of thinking, either.

i think it's funny to see people talking about hawaiian independence, considering a territory becomes a state through a voting and application process ... so that means a majority on hawaii wanted to cement their ties to the u.s. not weaken them. next subject please.
timothyand 6 months ago
@timothyand well just to let you know you're wrong. the people who voted for Hawai'i to become a state were the same people who took it over. The Queen and the people of Hawai'i never wanted the Kingdom to become one with the United States. It was our intention to coexist but never become part of the United States. Maybe you should read about what happened before you come to you're conclusion.
DodoProductions2011 6 months ago
@DodoProductions2011 bro population changes, displacements, movements in and out of regions have existed as long as human beings have. same goes with hawai'i. get over it. having said that, your response was a bunch of specious generalizations. the people who voted to become a state were the people who lived in hawai''i at the time (like 60 years ago) this includes the children of whites, chinese, japanese, and everybody else ... call it taking over if you want, but those are the people.
timothyand 6 months ago
@timothyand True about the first part. But get over it?! I fucked your mom.....ok about 3secs past there it's old now get over it. And you really know nothing about Hawaii's history. Even if you did research the internet only has so much info. A lot of things aren't documented. Don't talk about Hawaii like you know it.
hawaiian96chence 6 months ago
@hawaiian96chence "i fucked your mom ..." nice one. but, but, but, i've read james michener, too!!! yeah man, there is nothing unique about conquered peoples suffering, so get over it and look to the future. as for your other remarks ... shakabra.
timothyand 6 months ago
@timothyand Haha "so get over it" So are you suggesting that we forget the past?! To let go of everything long ago?! Then explain to me why we have Social Studies, History ect. as subjects in school. "Shakabra" wtf lol?? And the U.S. is a #FAIL period.
hawaiian96chence 6 months ago
@hawaiian96chence try and remember what this conversation is about, brother: whether or not hawaii's statehood should be up for debate, as if the united states forced the people of hawaii in 1959 to petition for statehood, and vote to join the union. it's a bit more complicated than "those fing haoles were mean to us," wouldn't you say? i'm done talking with you, you have the attention span of an ant. you chat a ur mouth. and you need to start listening.
timothyand 6 months ago
@timothyand read what u wrote "bro population changes, displacements, movements in and out of regions have existed as long as human beings have" Displacements are caused by many things like genocide, overthrows, and war not because a race of people decide to get up and just suddenly go. Did the Native Americans displace themselves? Or how about the African People? And how about all the other millions of people that decide to get up and displace themselves everyday?
DodoProductions2011 6 months ago
@timothyandby the way you're still wrong about the people who voted Hawai'i to become a state. Dude, read up and down this page I've challenged every single person about the matter and no one has come back with anything that's even remotely worth my time. I can't blame you guys though all of you were brainwashed from kids by our Government to think a certain way, to live a certain why through media, music, movies, tv. Its all propaganda, and i see through it. so whoever wants to step up bring it
DodoProductions2011 6 months ago
@DodoProductions2011 bro, i'm not arguing the morality of the tragedies you just listed. i'm saying that they are not unique in the course of human history, but i don't expect you to understand, you displayed an ability to completely misunderstand everything, anyway. i have a feeling that the reason nobody's comments are worth your time, is because you don't listen. i don't even think you know what YOUR point is. what is it, by the way? step up bring it? ha! hooray for internet anonymity, right?
timothyand 6 months ago
@timothyand well of course its not, history repeats itself because humans do the same shit over and over again. i do understand what you're saying, i understand what everyone is saying. you know what how about this, i hope China swoops in and lays this country on its ass so everyone is displaced, China takes the land, enslaves the American people, destroys the American culture and way of life. Then come talk to me after, all of you. Then you will know what my people have been through.
DodoProductions2011 6 months ago
@timothyand I will put it to you this way. Did the Hawaiians initiate the application process to become a state? A territory? Why would they, give up all entitlements to land they have and own, to someone else? Have you watched Princess Kai'ulani? One of the stipulations to vote, they had to own land. Tell me, if the US today, had that very same stipulation, how many people wouldn't be qualifited to vote? You think that's ok? Libya's people decide their fate, we should also, not non-hawaiians.
hankakah 5 months ago
@hankakah The non Hawiians arguing here should first read some history. Maybe they could start with Wilcox and The Bayonet Constitution before they put in their 10 cents worth. No I'm not Hawiian, but I was taught WORLD history in school in England, and that included Hawiian history. What was done in Hawii was/is disgusting. It should be put right. As to the appology from Clinton " Words without deeds etc.
mauiwhales1 5 months ago 2

@mauiwhales1 thank you very much, as you prove that there are more than just Hawaiians that feel this was a great injustice. Actually one of the few countries we do like is England, the only ones who gave Hawai'i back to us. That's why the British Union Jack in the corner of the Hawaii Flag, that's why we are patterened after the monarchy of England. And for those who think that this is ok, would it be ok to put a gun to your mom's head, rape her, steal her house, her land, then say you own it?
hankakah 5 months ago 9
@hankakah : I agree and its so sad that the so called country of freedom took Hawaii and if only England would have stayed there would be a gentler way of life and less commercialised misery. We feel the same in Tahiti the British sadly left and the French took over and though the French and the US hate each other perhaps its because their both alike somewhat. Most here wish that Britain had stayed and we would have had a better freer and gentler society & less commercial greedy misery.
Rogerbradly 1 month ago
@timothyand You my friend are IGNORANT. You're the kind of people that us Hawaiian's despise. No, we did not vote to become a state, understand and research your history. It was taken, people were killed, people lost their lands and with that, their right to vote. They forced the king to sign a constitution that gave the hawaiians less rights and when the queen tried to restore the hawaiians rights, they locked her up. It's history is disgusting, so before you open your mouth, do some research!
MissLindsayWong 1 month ago
@MissLindsayWong ignorant? hardly. your conflating your history. it might all seem like a part of the same injustice, but it's not. as for despising me, i don't think you even know what that word means, but i bet you'd love me if i pay top dollar for hula lua, like a japanese tourist, even if i was taking a shit on you behind your back. anyway, i will say based on your last name, ms. yellow, your family has been the beneficiary of the same history you condense into "haoles are mean." hypocrite.
timothyand 1 month ago
@timothyand For your information, I do'nt dance hula for money, I dance to perpetuate. Oh and also, "Wong" is my stepgrandfather's last name, therefore, I don't even come from a line of "Wong's", It's Kihoi. And did I say "Haoles are mean"? no i did not. So don't speak like you know me. You just claimed that my ancestor's AGREED to become a state, which is false. KNOW your history before you make comments like that, because there's a long line of Hawaiian koko that will educate your ignorant self
MissLindsayWong 1 month ago
@MissLindsayWong like i said, your FAMILY was the beneficiary, you reject your stepgrandfather, but you wear his name? you misunderstand what i wrote, and you don't understand your own opinions. i didn't say YOUR ancestors did shit, i said the residents of HAWAI'I petitioned for statehood in 1954. that's it. and either your education or your I.Q. prevents you from understanding. as for ignorance, i'll put my pedigree up against yours, any day you hill dwelling, poi pounding, tourist attraction.
timothyand 1 month ago

@DodoProductions2011 And what? Move the Naval Base and one of their most valuable tourist resources? Hawaii will never be sovereign until capitalism is dead. That is your common enemy you need to rise against.
Yankpats 7 months ago
@Yankpats The naval base doesn't even belong here, nothing of the United States belongs here. You get rid of the illegal occupation of the United States, you get rid of capitalism. Hawai'i isn't a tourist attraction, its a place of beauty, rich culture, and a unique way of life. These things are not tourist attractions, we shouldn't have to play the puppets for other peoples enjoyment.

Why let non-Hawaiians vote for statehood, Only Hawaiian's should determine what is best for them
hankakah 11 months ago 5
@hankakah im an american, however you are 1,000,000 % correct. Hawaii should be their own kingdom once again. Your history/race/ and culture is just amazing. Our US Gov't just screws it up
brandonbauderske 11 months ago 31
@brandonbauderske Mahalo, that's how IZ felt. He carried the weight of Hawaii on his shoulders, he spoke up about it. The Queen told her subjects not to attack the invaders, not to cause more bloodshed. She said that the Americans will see the wrongs, and justice will prevail. President Cleveland sent Blount to investigate and he agreed that the takeover was illegal. President Cleveland agreed that Hawaii should be given back, he was not reelected. IZ wants justice and freedom for his people!
hankakah 11 months ago 4
@brandonbauderske about the government part, what else is new? Government has always screwed stuff up. what they gotta understand is everything was fine before they did anything to it. They thought making Hawaii part of the united states would make it better. What they didn't understand was that hawaii was just fine on its own.

chukylu 11 months ago
@chukylu President Clinton and Congress also passed an apology, recognizing that the overthrow of the queen would not have happened with the help of the US marines or their involvement. However the apology does Hawaiians no good, when more and more land is being sold, when numerous Hawaiians can't afford the rent, pay for their homes, work for others. Hawaii needs for something to be done, Hawaii should be for Hawaiians. Germany, Japan, Phillipines, Vietnam, South Korea, Iraq were all given back
