This is my kind of rap. i like the Lil Kims and Foxy Browns but I prefer to hear more strong women on the mic but people decided not to "take anything serious", whatever that means.
This song came out in August of 1990 and was featured on the Make Way For The Motherlode album. It sampled Public Enemy's 1990 song, Welcome To The Terrordome.
I like this. She throws the hardest on the last verse when she launches with " I'm a lady that's stepping...no I'm STOMPING/ And I ain't gonna say I'm from Compton/Tried to slip and slide and glide and tried to ride on the bandwagon/But I'm still taggin"...and then she takes you into hyperspeed, knocking off your equillibrium and doesn't stop until 'she' gets ready. True, Cube and Del wrote some of the lyrics, but she and her style was the one driving it...clearly. They said that themselves.
I don't listen to too many female emcees but Bahamadia, Isis/Lin Que, Jean Grae, Heather B, L Boogie/Lauryn Hill, Deadly Venoms Crew, Nefertiti, Medusa, Rah Diggah, Sweet Tee, Tara Chase, Nikki D, Antoinette, Lady Luck, Mia X, Cherly The Pearl, Lady Bug Mecca, Michie Mee, Monie Love, MC Trouble, Ms Jade, Queen Latifah, MC Lyte & YoYo, aren't hoes on the mic they're real emcees, respect.
dang everybody was jackin KORE'S videos. lol make way for the motherlode was party/lyric. black pearl, female empowerment. you better ask somebody, west coast gangsta. total control, feminine lyrics. ebony, didnt get a chance. i have everything from yo-yo. promo cds and more. i have this cassette with dope femininity. that track is good
damn I haven't seen this since... like forever! I forgot hoe different the track was on the video version. One of my favorite tracks from her debut album.
i have the aint nobody better video but aol took that sht down. they always take the black stuff down. and you see britney and them up all day long...
Yo Yo had good flow, but don't forget that Ice Cube and Del tha Funkee Homosapien wrote most of the lyrics for Yo Yo on the album. Just listen to the lyrics and you can here the Ice Cube and Del influence.
I've been looking for this video for months!!! I was 13 in 1990 when this came out. Yo-Yo, MC Lyte, Queen Latifah, Salt n Pepa, the old Lil' Kim, and Foxy Brown were real female rappers back then!!!!
i have a song yall dont have. 'dope femininity' from the stompin' to tha 90's cassette single. i have it on my mp3 player now and its hella clear. check it out on limewire i got hella stuff from yo-yo. i just need ebony and a few remixes from her songs. i have all the other cds though.
I have the entire "Make Way For the Motherlode" album on my iPod. I must say that this song kicks and it kicks heavy on some BOSE speakers. A joint like this, you'd have to turn up the volume on. This cut was my fav' from her back in the day.
Go Yo Yo Go Yo Yo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hate that its so hard to search for her videos on here because everything with the words yo in it comes up.sigh. Thanx for posting
i was 6 when this came out.....back when my uncle was slanging hard

BestVideosEver01 3 years ago
Man, women dance how they dance and when you got an ass like YoYo, you booty shake.
Davidhgi 3 years ago
when you rap like a man you dont booty shake. lol.
BestVideosEver01 3 years ago
Nah, Yo didn't rap like a man. She was very feminine but was more like a West Coast version of Latifah with her emphasis on female empowerment.
Oh just let her shake that ass.
