It was tough, chippy hockey but it wasn't any different than how the Flyers played against the other NHL teams. A lot of Canadians didn't like the way the Flyers played either but given the level of hatred toward the Soviets after the 1972 series, most of them put that aside and watched these shenanigans with a smile on their faces.

ive been to russia, when i did the student exchanged program and this is what it felt like:

you guys smell with a cross of soup and pine needles; minor hockey down their is terrible and the pace is very slow compared to over hear; the teachers have incredibly thick eyebrows; very windy and the cold over their is colder than the cold over here; the majority of the adults were extremely tall and pathetically skinny; i admit you have much cleaner lakes than us

russia is an "all out attack" team, which has its highs and lows, thats why usually when you score lots, you let in almost as much and the game ends in like 7-5

canada is a "defense is the best offense" team which has pros and cons, we are opposite of u, we dont score to many goals, but we dont allow much either

Valery Kharlamov was one of the greatest players in the world. In that time in Soviet Union it was strictly forbidden to fight back that is why they took all the hits. But nowdays they fight back. You probably remember 5-4... last year:) So go and take a dive in your own ass!

Don't forget, Canada left international hockey in the late 60's because of the sheer corruption of the IIHF. Russia and Czech. teams used their pros at the Olympics and worlds (Allowed because they were Communist nations ... where 'Pro's' did not exist) Canada came back in 72 and it's true, ... if Orr and B. Hull had both played in the Summit series, it would not have been that close. Its too bad you guys don't like the rough stuff, ... it was normal til all the Euro's came to the NHL.

Whatever 'Goon' means ... who knows but Canadian pro's were forced to wear helmets when the Euro's arrived but they couldn't handle our style of play so now we have over-padded/helmeted players with funny looking uniforms.
