  • This part makes me cry every single time I watch it.

  • no, their son!!! u.u

  • yes, this part is very cruel..i still remember it when i watched it in the cinema last time..

  • I suspect that the director deliberately used an extra who resembled Chairman Mao in the scene where the parents see their son's dead body. You can see the extra who resembles Mao beginning at 3:13 and ending at 3:17. The camera even pans to the right slightly to keep him on screen a second longer. I've never seen anything written to confirm this, though. But I find it likely that a director knows everything that goes on in every shot, and it would be a helluva statement to make.

  • @JoeTriple07 it's just a coincidence, a lot of ppl had hairstyles like that back then

  • @JoeTriple07

Highly doubt it. Chinese film directors don't make their films the same way as the stuff you see in Hollywood. Also, the person doesn't look even remotely like Chairman Mao save for the fact that he's Chinese.

  • This part scarred me for life when I saw it as a little kid.

  • @newwave89 same.

  • man this part was hela sad. i lost my only son also & he was our youngest. im glad this wasnt a true story
