I'm a great fan of Ratatat since about 3 days, I really love them! This is my favourite song. It's mysterious but beautiful and calm. But I don't really get that wonderful feeling from the live versions. Maybe it's just me?
I agree with Raiyell, Ratatat and Classics are really great!
it has such a liberating affect. i just have to close my eyes, and everything begins to melt away: the stress, the worry, the pain. all that remains is a sense of freedom from the mundane and trivial. Breaking Away couldn't be a better title for this music. this will forever remain my favorite off of any of their albums, and i'm glad to live in a generation that gets to experience it.
@DarkStageFilms welcome to the group. better late than never :P I suggest listening to the albums Ratatat and Classics. When I think of ratatat, it is those albums. LP4 is cool, but a bit different. It may take a while to get used to them, but once you do, you'll be glad. Certainly not like anything you have heard before. If you think they are, whatever you heard most likely was influenced by Ratatat.
@mratomix Learn to know anything about anything and notice how early this Ratatat is. With some time who knows what will happen? Oh wait I do, FUCKING MUSIC GODS.
i like how the tempo increases as the song progresses, kinda like stairway to heaven was written. this is one of my favorite songs though. underapreciated tho,, i prefer their first album to Classics.
i wish he didn't headbang on such a dramatic and smooth song (my 2nd favorite after gettysburg). i kinda wish he played it like a jazz player since it rolls so nicely, but whatever, he's the musician not me
this is one of the most dramatic songs i have ever heard.best build up i have ever heard in a song aswell.i dont listen to alot of like soft music n wut not but i have the highest respect for ratatat.the emotion they put into every song is amazing.so original.good stage presence and visual effects.can wait to see them on the 11th of oct in montreal!
it's an old epiphone welshire they reisued it recently for a short lived run except they were made with humbuckers as suposed to the minihumbuckers the originals had great guitar. i saw an original one at 30th street music in nyc and it was going for almost 3 grand so good luck
why does this comment have a negative score? ratatat is a drug band in every way. they came up with their name while on an acid trip! and without question, their music is amazing whislt stoned
i dont think thats any of ratatat's song, i may be wrong...i have all of their albums and most of their LPs and demos and i dont remember hearing anything like that
i love ratatat and everything, but they really aren't that great live. they seem to have a lot of trouble sticking to the beat at random times, and they always do that slow zombie head bang...other than that, they're not too bad.
I have a feeling ratatat loves the climax of this song as much as me :p

I have just come across Ratatat last week and I haven't really gotten a real feel or understanding of their style. Is this normal? haha
but i am sure i am soon to come around, they sound really experimental so thats a plus in my book.

why does this comment have a negative score? ratatat is a drug band in every way. they came up with their name while on an acid trip! and without question, their music is amazing whislt stoned
jonny3gwd25 3 years ago
they are psychadelic. this shouldn't be surprising to anyone. just a stigma comes along with the affiliation to drugs.
dontutremble 2 years ago
why are all these new alt bands all labeled psychadelic. They are not.
Terrorizzzm 2 years ago
well no, of course they aren't explicitly psychedelic, but it's easy enough to see the psych influences.
