@Whateveryalll lol you are a god send, i had the most wonderfull giggle when i read this comment :D are you black or white? lol just kidding, dont know how to play chess anyway??
Hey, ...Who gives a fuck what you listen to, you self-absorbed, over inflated, twat. It's just a matter of opinion, find something that's actually meaningful to talk about. and to follower... It isn't about race I love tool.
Everyone just needs too chill the fuck out and enjoy their own tastes in music. It doesn't matter how smart you make yourself sound, or how well you present your argument, or even how well you can flame a genre. People will always have their own tastes and opinions no matter what you say.
I like both Tool and many rap artists (Kayne, Chris Brown leap to mind). I've heard the entire discography of Tool and much of Kayne West's album discography, I like them both very much. Music is good if you can relate to it.
@TyphoidExcel DUDE! i played viginiti tres for my buddy on shrooms and he was like "i cant handle that shit!" then i played it at a party and this ripped girl almost cried. ahaha, almost, i stopped it before it got too bad though.
This song always makes me feel like my milk is letting down, even though it's been 23 years since I nursed my son. That crying baby brings it all right back, every time. Oh, and Ticks & Leaches gives me a sore throat every time I hear it. Jimmy makes me feel so sad I want to cry for Maynard at 11. I guess there's such a thing as having too much empathy.
huh. I guess this intermission track just is not meant to be listened to without the enfolding other tracks of the album. Guess I'mma get stoned and listen to the album as a whole, I believe that's how those damn intermissions could actually be enjoyable.
Don't get me wrong, I love many of Tool's songs (e.g. Vicarious, Right In Two, The Pot, etc...), but some are just plain pretentious bullshit. Period.
@gabbergandalf667 Maybe you are just perceiving it that way. Besides, Tool has merit to back up that "pretentiousness", if that is how you identify it.
Lateralus, Parabola, Schism...that do anything for you? By the way,10.000 days also has some of those unpleasant intermissions between coherent songs, e.g. "vinginti tres", so I know what I'm talking about. Maybe I'm just having a different opinion of what "music" is supposed to be like.
Look look, to be honest, I get it already. I gave Aenima a shot while being high and it all finally made sense :P
But that's not what I usually expect from music. Not even if it were a concept album.
scared the shit out of me high, so i went on a journey looking for a lost baby, i found it and it melted in my hands. but actually i was in my back yard yelling at my sisters baby doll toys.
Now as the light gets closer to me, the waves become less forgiving. Everything seems to drift into another dimension, warping and twisting. Then I reach the end of the passage, and turn around. A green field greets me. I turn around, hearing a bird, which I see sitting on the tree in the middle of the beautiful green pasture I'm now standing the the middle of. But now I'm falling. Falling where? Why?
I never thought a song could have such an impact on me....
When I close my eyes and listen to this, I drift off into a dream.
First I'm staring into a wall. A blank wall, nothing special about it. I hear a child crying and turn around, only to find myself at the end of a hallway. I walk towards the light at the end, the child's voice echoing throughout the darkness. Then the static comes, then the waves of sound. As the waves come in, the light gets brighter, and everything warps and twists. It get progressively more twisted and warped with every wave
I heard this track on the HBO series Generation Kill like a year or 2 ago, and just heard it on an ESPN commercial where the guy is throwing peanuts into his sleeping buddy's mouth at the airport.
Pretty much Tool is a fucking Progressive band it means that all this weird shit in between has something to do with the ideas the album conveys as a whole. Its how prog works...its not out there to appeal to the masses like country and rap they actually think about their music
if you listened to the whole album aenema on a CD you would see that these random intermissions just make the album play smoothly where as most albums are just songs lined up to play in order.
It's just the logical flow of the album, these interludes I believe are for those that are on hallucinogens to have a break from the steel grip of the actual songs, so their minds do not implode...
i they added this to be out of the ordinary so people wouldn't think they've "sold out, layin' down, suckin' up to the man" same with Die Eier Von Satan, i mean come on? A cookie recipe?
Would you like it better if they threw in a generic bass & high-hat rhythm and said "NIGGA KILLIN NIGGAS WIF GUNZ AN NIGGA CANNONS IN THEY NIGGAMOBILES WIF NIGGARIMS AND NIGGA SPEAKAHS"
At least then it could be classified as something a human being might enjoy listening to instead of horrible garbage that some fat fuck made in his mother's basement while trying incredibly hard to be "edgy" and "out there."
@WuTanGKiLLaZ Sorry you have no idea what Tool is about. If this is the only song you have heard from them then I feel really really sorry for you. They are an amazing band that put out great and talented music, each member of the band is highly skilled at what they do, unlike anyone in any rap group. Talking fast and rhyming mother and brother isn't skill in any real musician's opinion. Mastering an instrument is a concept the Rap genre couldn't understand.
" Would you like it better if they threw in a generic bass & high-hat rhythm and said "NIGGA KILLIN NIGGAS WIF GUNZ AN NIGGA CANNONS IN THEY NIGGAMOBILES WIF NIGGARIMS AND NIGGA SPEAKAHS" "
@iloveVincentV Rap does not suck ass. You just think that because all you listen to is mainstream/commercial rap. Maybe if you listened to underground rap, you would change your mind. Don't talk like you know what rap is because from where i'm standing, you have no idea what your talking about.
@musiclover01ization fuck u man rock is the shit ur rite what ive heard of rap does suck but if underground rap sounds anything like what ive heard then yea it does suck
@iloveVincentV Well then, you need to pull your head out of your ass and actually listen before you start judging what sucks and what doesn't. As much as I love rock music, I don't just stick to one musical style. Maybe you should do the same instead of acting like rock is only good music style out there.
@HerbalGoonWizard never said i was cool dumbass but why the ffuck are we fighting we should just shut up and let ppl listin to their fucking awesome music
@follower64 And you need to stop stereotyping rap music like that. Not all rap is like that. If you actually bothered to listen, you would know that some rap is filled with intelligent messages.Of course it would be easier for you to just listen to commercial rap,and say that's what all rap is like
@musiclover01ization i hear that shit man, i used to be close minded and hate rap, im a huge fan of any kind of brutal metal, but i'll happily admit that a lot of rap has a certain "flava" that you just cant get with metal.
@Mroyy12345 youre right, that was incredibly racist. but i have come along way since then and now i love rap and understand that people listen to music for different reasons :]
I hooked up a horrow house with this song looping every time a group went into a certain room. I had small dips in the floor and holographic paintings on the wall and multicolored strobe lights...very disorienting to say the least...was great though to watch lol.
