Classic track by Slade from 1974. For some reason, it stalled at # 3 in the British charts; it soooooooooo deserved to be a chart-topper.
Rod Stewart and The Faces would have been able to do a pretty good cover version of this song, I reckon. In fact, I'll bet that, at one time, Stewarty wished that he had written this classic, racous tune himself !
You guys who saw Slade live are so lucky!!!!! I got into them in college in the early 1970s and still love them but this is a song I never heard.......
i new music was fucked when this did not get to number 1. its gone downhill since that day and just when you think it can go no further down into a cauldren of shite
a song comes out and you think yes it fucking can.
and every day i am proved wrong. it just gets worse.
This is one of the greatest slade songs ever, especially the third verse where nod raises hell with the finest voice in rock. This is wot slade was all about and it was a big shock to me when slade began to mellow around this time. So who cares that how does it feel is the critics choice, what did critics ever do for slade eh? Keep crazee .
Fan since Cum On Feel The Noize came belting from the telly when TOTP's was on. No.1 group for me, Still have all their vinyl 7",12" records (what are those lol) and all on cd too. Seen many times over years. What i would give now to see a reunion but alas, not to be, Nod just won't play ball. Shame as didn't really say "Thanks for the Memory" to the fans more of a "C'est La Vie". But regardless of Nod's feelings, mine won't change. Even when "Far Far Away" can still see them on YouTube, Brill
@gypsyroadhog NODDY must have a price he would come back for all us slade fans keep your fingers crossed and the lottery may come up and maybe we could tempt him back one more time
Slade was the very first band I listened to when I was a kid. I was about 7 or 8 when I first listened to them with my father, who's also a devoted Slade fan. I've once brought a Slade tape on a party in my school. The opening track was Cum Feel The Noize, and when my teacher insterted the tape into the stereo, after first four or five notes she smashed the stop button, get it off the amplifier and said, with a great dose o embaressment: "Paweł, it's way too heavy!" ;) cheers from Poland!
its funny, but i just loved watching slade & loved their songs...but at a young innocent age,i never understood the words! ive learned a lot over the years...but the songs are still classics.
Best Slade track. remember this in 1974. I was 10. I feel very privileged to be around when there was some great music around. glad Im old enough to remember the 70s
Legend has it this lyric was originally 'The Bonkin' man'... apparently the lyrics had to be toned down a bit for the record company ;-)
It is suppossed to be about trying to sleep in hotel rooms on tour and being kept awake by one particular roadie who had a habit of making lots of noise all night with the groupies.
^_^
"Look at the banging man, he says he can, time after time"
Don't know if there's any truth in that... but I bet there is ;-)
Isaw SLADE do this live, the bangin man is a roadie who bangs on the door when its time to leave, the little dream is the groupies who came to Slades doors, later Slade did a track called It Aint Love But It Aint Bad, check out the lyrics on that 1
That is the wonder of Slade, read all the books and biographies and they tell all sorts of different stories about things, contradicting themselves constantly - there are several versions of why they were called 'Ambrose Slade' - the mad secretary with things named on her desk, the cowboy in the film on the tele... I bet none of them are true ;-)
1A super herrlich,da kommt fast keine gruppe von heute mit die können sich ne scheibe abschneiden davon, die musik aus den 70igern das war halt musik noch.
Great one ! remember we couldn't see them when they released this track b-coz of a strike on the BBC TOTP'S !!! so good on ya and keep on rockin!!!!!!!!
