My dad used to let us play colecovision when we had snow days off from school....it made playing it that much more special (our everyday game system was the commodore 64). My favorite games were mousetrap and smurfs. :)
I'm surprised no hip-hop artist has used the music here for a sample. I loved mousetrap, but in retrospect, it was incredibly easy. any old fool could pick it up and excel at it.
When you stand in front of a door and press the button while pushing the joystick in the direction of the door, the door opens and you don't change into a dog. If you press the button without pushing the joystick or being near a door, you turn into the dog. It's not hard at all, Atari was very creative in using that single button :)
No, if you have the bone, and hold down only the button than you change into the dog. To open the door you have to point the joystick towards the door. At least on my version, I have the 2600 version which I play on a 7800.
Yeah, I got the Colecovision version too. The 2600 version doesn't look completely awful, but it's a really really toned down version of the real Mouse Trap. Only one set of doors, no bonus items, a much smaller maze... eh. People wo've never played any other version would probably find it good, though.

How did you change the maze and also delay using the bones with the 2600 joystick controller and a single fire button?

I love Mouse Trap, but it is WAAAAY to easy!

I have never heard "bone" used so much in relation to a VCS game.
...no, not even when discussing Custers Revenge.
Also, hearing the phrase "Go about the business of clearing your cheese dots" is just hilarious. :)
Makes me want the game even more, just so I can tell people thats what I spent my night doing.
The business of clearing cheese dots. Oh yeah!

PS. These rules also apply to the arcade version.

I way preferred this over Pac-man back in the day :)
Didn't know you could move the walls though, mind you I was only 3 years old at the time lol.

how is this for 2600 when the 2600 has only one button and you need one button to change the maze, and another to change into a dog?

These videos are very well-made... too bad new games do not need strategy videos, since all you do is follow directions and watch lame CG cinemas.

I tried this game and thought it was fun, then I tried it on colecovision and got totally addicted.
The coleco version is amazing.
