I agree that the film became a tad too cartoon-ey in the later half.

The very end where the Alien shows up out of no-where... I dunno. They breezed over it so quickly like it was nothing.

I still enjoyed all of it though, as a fun adventure film.

hey, since you liked the beginning(the part that seems to have been true to the manga) you should check out the manga or 2003 tv series(not the American release though, it changed allot of stuff)

The movie was really underdeveloped.

The only quality voice acting was the President. I don't think Nick Cage has NEARLY the inflection to voice a grieving father. He barely comes off as human in live action films. He shoulda played a robot.

The CGI is great, except for one, small problem. This studio seemed to fear Tezuka's animation style. Does anyone else notice that the only characters drawn correctly are Astro, Tenma and Elefun? They drew everyone else however they wanted to!

hey there john those elements have alway existed in astro boy.The cartoon was based off the japanese manga called astro boy by osamu tezuka and he is the godfather of the creation of manga.

The story was very deep and his stuff was clearly not made for children given that the manga does not have an english release I can't tell you to go and buy it but its sad how his work has been destroyed by hollywood over and over again -_-

FYI all those emotional story elements have always existed in Astro BOy. but ya i hate the trend of using these stupid so called high class actors for animated films. the miyasaki films have been butchered(by Disney) with that trend. Ponyo to be specific.

i agree about the cheesy stuff .. it has no place, the tv series wasn't that dumb.. the first half was the best but these silly other characters, the the kids , those 3 robots., wtf, i thought i was watching Fox's robots..should have taken itself more seriously in the 2nd half.

I disagree, the movie was amazing to me. I'm a very sensitive person, so i cried almost the whole movie. I loved it it was greaaaaat. It breaks my heart that yous aid the second half sucked. But i've got to admit that the first part WAS unexpected, and i really thought that the machine will injure him/give him powers. who woulda thought.. =(

But, I wanted to ask you: What did you think about the main girl's story? She simply says that she ran away from home. Then, at the end, her parents are conveniently there and she hugs them. GAW! But, that isn't much of a story, is it? I'd like to know how a little girl gets from floating Tokyo to the surface. XD... Feels manipulative.

Nice review, sir. It's refreshing to see someone who actually has sensibility and doesn't spout stuff like, "dis movie sukkkzzz".

Though, I gotta say, I disagree with you about the film going nowhere. I actually think, for me, it picked up a bit after he left Metro City. But to each his own. You have my respect, good job sir.

i watch this today and i almost walkout what a complete dissapointment ur right it started pretty good then it falls apart in the middle. you may like this if ur a kid. but for adults and fan of the series is a major dissapointment.this may be the worse movie of the year.
