ummm I ride english and I have never seen a horse break their ankles jumping or messing their necks up unless the rider was terrible and injured them...not saying they can't mess their legs up jumping but that's why most of the time they ware leg wraps/boots to protect them, its like saying i prefer english cuz my friend rode western and racing barrels destroys their legs crippling them and the bits are so harsh it causes extreme injuries...really maybe you should do your research first
i personly prefer western..because(english) jumping breaks your horses ankles and their neck being that tight can make their neck stay like that forever......i know this because my friend used to ride english and this happened to her horse
Okay i think it is just so stupid how people think it matters what saddle they have. I love both but i love western the most because my aunt told me how to ride western please don't get made at me for the saddle i have but if one of you hoe do english would like to try western i say try it is alot of fun
I prefer western (as does my horse), but I love both styles. Riding is riding, and each discipline has its own ups and downs. Besides, it's better to be well acquitted with both for horse and rider, in my opinion. Broadens horizons and opens minds.
I ride western and never sat in an english saddle. but i do know that western is made for pleasure and comfort to the horse and rider. Also, it helps farmers and ranchers with the farm animals.:)
@RidingTemptation i am not trying to get into an argment but i honestly think in western you can fly too. it is a very nice feeling to feel like your flying on a horse!:)
@siarrahbabey14 I was reffering to jumping, which in fact is flying. not very often do you actually have no contact with the ground in western. As in, your horse's feet pretty much always touch the ground. :) But I do believe all ways of riding cause the feeling of flying :)
@RidingTemptation Im not like tryin to be rude or anything but we jump in western saddles.... like i ride western and english, prefer western but i do both and we always put logs in the way and take off cantering and jump the logss...
@SilverSky333 well yeah i dont jump my horse 3 feet in my western saddle but i do when im in my english saddle, when im western we just have fun with logs and stuff but i do jump him competitions english up to 4 feet.
Western all the way!! lol I love barrels, poles, and gymkhana events. But really, we are both riding a horse, and those that fight about which is better, are just fighting over a peice of leather. lol But i perfer western, but never have tried english. But i dont exackly plan to, ive got some good potential in barrels and poles, along with my horse. :) Nice video by the way!!
english for me.. last timer i nearly broke my pelvis cause i was on a bucking horse and the horse threw me in the air an i landed on the horn.. plus english is my comfortable for me (:

@PocosDocBarFury You can't do serious jumping in western though, you go too high or do too much and it's bad for the horse.
