I'm pretty sure he said 'The Pistols, The Saints & The Ramones'...
at least that was the quote in the liner notes to the remastered version of 'i'm stranded'...honestly, i don't go out of my way to find out what bob geldolf's opinion is..
but y'know, maybe his PR manager had conflicting info, i dunno. I doubt Geldolf has ever listened to the 'i'm stranded' LP from start to finish..
but, y'know what, he's a good guy. Sub-saharan Africa is eternally in his debt..
@adolfGoooglification Yeah quite right it was The Ramones, (the third one, my mistake) but he said about his band once 'The Boomtown Rats' that when The Clash came along around their time during the 70's & early 80's that The Clash became more successful and The Boomtown Rats weren't as popular as a result.
I agree about Sub-saharan Africa is showed that some famous musicians care & want to help the problems of the dreadful poverty around the world to help save lives.
Like Bob Geldof once said music was changed in the Seventies by three bands The Pistols, The Saints & The Clash.

I remember when this came out - everyone was WTF? Good dance song when they played live.
Funny to think CB was considered to be the devil incarnate by mums and dads at the time...
