  • I see that the dots for where to hit notes on the string are not arranged like they would be on a western guitar...does anyone know what system the guqin uses for pitch?

Also, how is guqin music notated on paper (if at all...i don't know)?

  • This is the tune they play in hero too right ? The fight scene from jet-li en donny jen

  • @Desieh not same tune. music in the movie: watch?v=hsyF1i4Cbb0

  • I've had this video on my favorites for two years now and I still love it.

I don't think I'll ever get tired of it.

  • This is awesome, totally traditional not a single nod toward east/west fusion

  • i love that instrument

  • Hypnotic.. Incredible.

  • EastWest3002, What's "yao?"

  • It is a kind of left hand finger movement. It gives a very subtle vibrato. Yao - kind of gliding left and right.

  • Truly a master player.

  • Beautiful! How I wish he could play it in a slower beat and with more "yao" on the strings.

  • I know it as meaning want, but there is probably a different translation he means. But still, great music and a great musician!

  • Beautiful.
