My thoughts are with ur husband for speedy recovery and all will be well. Very sorry about your experiences at the hospital. Hope the commission will do some follow up.
Deaf couple in Las Vegas who earn lucrative settlements thru making multi-lawsuits against the hositpal facilities. Easy task... LOL, its a true story. However with your situation, its more grave and you really need an interpreting service. This must be taken care the next time u may return in the future.
Damn, same and same everywhere! Yes, it's frustration for us to educate again and again, but it's worth for next generation! I have the same problem with real estate too, especially with HUD. They refused to provide an interpreter. When I requested for interpreter and they said they'll be in contact with me later. And never, so I contacted them again, they said they will contact me again, but never. Following up is important, and same with me...I filed with Department of Justice.
Sorry about ur hubby hope he gets well... Yes I undy your audistic frustration... I was told that if you are not a patient then no terp needed and I find that bullshit. They need to start respecting the spouse or the child of the deaf parents. Is this ironic they have all the other language terps and not asl terp and we have to educate them! Good Grief!!!
Mikey: I'll email you the necessary info on this subject. I might as well as make a vlog addressing the *similar* problems that I faced in using the VRI and requesting an interpreter...
Yes, educate them. And if needed, sue them to jolt them out of bed to ensure that it won't happen to anyone else in ur area.
