You will notice that this stock BMW 525i from 1994 with 192 HP is faster than any non turbo VR6 ;) 0-100 in 6 seconds, even R32 is not much faster in stock condition ;)
Well, the stock 24V VR6 GTI will hit 60 MPH in 6.5 seconds.... not too shabby for a FWD car! I believe the Mk5 GTI will do 6.2 seconds. Of course, turbocharging the VR6 turns the car into a whole other animal. You must improve the front end, and add better tires in that case for improved grip.
haha funny seeing a golf with with flip bars on it fast car though friends got a mk 1 with a turbo vr6 in it looks standard except for rims its like a wolf in sheeps clothing we go hunting for rs turbos,r5gtt,scobbys and evos,funny when see there faces as leave em for dust
@binzydarren That's exactly how i feel about it as well, keep the car standard and people will die when you beat their expensive toys! I will be making my own MK1 VR6 soon :-)

My brother has a Stage2 24V VR6 GTI Turbo that does 0-60 in like 4.5 seconds! Can't wait until he tries the 1/4 mile, just out of curiosity.

the bars are actually to keep the front wheels firmly planted, and to increase traction. Unlike a RWD car, they are on the ground all the time.
