William Smith was perfect in this movie. Not surprising since he's one of the greatest actors of all time. I'm currently watching Rich Man Poor Man and he does an excellent job playing the scumbag Falconetti. A friend of mine saw Smith at a convention and said he was an incredibly nice guy.

Anyway, the only movie where where Smith getting beat seemed even remotely plausible, had to be in "Any Which Way you Can" by Clint Eastwood. I mean, if Smith has to get "beat up" by somebody, I can't think of a better/cooler dude to do it than, Philo Beddoe/Clint Eastwood. No shame in getting beat by Clint, right? :-) BTW, I completely forgot Smith played Conan's father!

@spacepatrolman Watch any movie with Schwarzenegger showing his physique and he's tensing the entire time-CORNY. Smith was much more believable as someone I would not want to walk in to. Just a coincidence he's appearing as part of a festival here in Phoenix this weekend and I hope to see him in person.

@bambarn5678 absolutely> I met him at a convention8 yrs ago--> I told hilm that, in real life, he'd've beaten the hell out of eastwood in the movie 'Any Which way You Can.' Smith laughed --and let it go at that. He also volunteered that, of all the actors he workd, James Garner was the very nicest and most generous. Smith was a master linguist--worked for the gov't and taught Russian --I believe--at UCLA.
