S.S.H. - Decisive Battle(Final Fantasy VI)

Final Fantasy III/VI boss battle theme...one of the best musical compositions in the history of video games. I remember the doom I felt when I heard this for the first time, then the victory which came shortly thereafter. I'll always have good memories of this piece.

The original composition comes from a time in which the game's music received as much attention as every other part. Nowadays the graphics seem to take precedence over everything; even plot.

I miss the old games.

@OldWayArtisans I agree. I never had a chance to play FFVI as a child, so I just started it, thanks to the PSN release a few months back. Around 20 hours in, I'm absolutely loving it so far. The epic music, lovable characters, and gripping story are how a Final Fantasy game should be, not like the poo-poo Square Enix is releasing nowadays. (Sorry if I offend any FFXIII enthusiasts).

@phoenix86 You're right about the epic storyline, but I'd say you should try the original as well. Game companies have a tendency to "remix" things when they re-release, so I'm sure some things have changed. I don't know how true to the original it is, since I haven't played the new PSN release. All I know is that FFIII/VI had about the best plot and character development of any game I've ever played.

Also, Ultima can be learned by equipping a character with the Paladin shield which you aquire after 250 battles or so with the cursed shield which you aquire in Narshe in the World Of Ruin.. So I go for the sword which I stake to aquire the Illumina. Yes, it takes a while, but I love my girls (Celes, Terra & Relm) and they will have only the best. <3

@ConenTyrson1 I made a mistake on my previous reply - In Kefka's Tower, the party encounters Ultima Buster, not Ultima Weapon. Ultima Weapon is encountered in the Floating Continent, named Atma Weapon on the SNES/Playstation version :)

Nice, Nice... Sounds like Decisive Battle BUT, if you seach on almost every wiki there is you will find out that they call this piece of music "Fierce Battle" so either they are messed up or you just took it from what others have said! (Im beginning to sound like a smartass eh?) Its just that little name thing that keeps confusing even on Youtube is people who calls it "Fierce Battle"

@M1k5el They are similar, and I had them confused as well, but Decisive Battle is the normal boss theme, while The Fierce Battle ( watch?v=SmwSfUqnDvA ) is the Atma (Weapon) fight theme. They're similar, but different songs. =P

the thing is FF 6 was remade multiple times, and each remake ( From the SNES, to the PS1 than the GBA) renamed the song, except the gba wich retained the original Decisive battle, than the PS1 changed it to Fierce battle. The name Squar Enix accepted is the Decisive battle, thats why it was titled so in Dissidia Final Fantasy. hope that clears things up.

I'd be really appreciative if you could find it! It's pretty tedious to download so much great music one file at a time. There's not enough good music of the oldschool FFs, in my opinion. SSH does a really good job with it, though, I'm impressed with his skill.
