  • Radio...? Do you work there or are you a railnerd?

  • Were do the trains park after san Diego station?

  • you can hear the engineer lay on the horn before dumping the air.

  • American trains are like a lot of Americans: they make too much unnecessary noise. Why?

  • @ALNEAL Because Americans are too stupid to pay attention for oncoming trains, and if they don't, they're too quick to file suit when their car gets smashed or their family member gets killed.

  • @OfficerNelson

It just about sums it up. Sad!

  • @ALNEAL Do you have statistics to back up your claims? Are there more collisions at crossings in Europe? One huge difference between Europe and America is the area covered. I don't know, just askin. It would seem like the railroads must have done studies and determined that sounding the horn reduces the number of collisons. Don't you think?

  • I believe something was in the way, it may not have hit anything but something mustve stalled on the crossing. That last horn blast was abnormally long and the engineer probably didnt wanna risk the chance that the object didnt move so he went into emergency and luckily avoided collision.

  • Maybe an air hose came undone. Happens with freight trains a lot.

  • Why stop videoing? Keep recording.

Would be interesting to see how quickly the train stopped and how far it traveled.

I would run north, always staying on legal pathways with camcorderecording, to capture what happened.

    No unusual horn use.

  • What did it hit? Anything at all?

  • Kinda reminds me of a movie or something. Great catch of the em brake!

  • some one forgot the coffee, thats why they stoped!!!

  • Haha like really! I wonder if that has really happened to someone before!

  • I'm guessing someone either stepped (or drove) in front of the train, or the engineer thought someone was about to, since he really lays on the horn just a second before big holing it. Seems to be pretty common at those crossings near the station in San Diego. Nice horn though, and good audio of the emergency application (you know it right away when you hear it!).

  • I bet someone got in the way. I've seen that a lot at that crossing.

  • Wow! Cool car second from the engine! Love the air hissing sound also.

  • I'm sure you mean the car behind the loco., it's a 1948 BUDD 'vista dome observation lounge sleeping car', built for the CALIFORNIA ZEPHYR as the CB&Q SILVER SOLARIUM no 377. It's in private ownership now.

  • Boy I love the sound of air dumping. Great video J.

  • Nice K5LA!

  • Looks like somebody thought the horn was too loud. Interesting video.

  • Was this yesterday?

  • Who gave my comment thumbs down??
