Sorry, but any good wrestler that has moderate hip control isn't going to get thrown in every which position that you have shown. You do a good job of creating motion, but at a high level of wrestling a lot of these techniques tend to fail and put you out of position. Nice to see a few different skills being displayed on the mat though!
@MrGib133 And this is why you lull them into losing that hip control. You lure them into your comfort zone, and some will make the mistake of taking the bait. I haven't been able to try my strategies with a "high level" of wrestling, so who knows what could happen! We can only speculate. Anybody with any mat experience knows that anything can happen to anybody at any second. Its a roll of the dice sometimes. Thanks for the view, and comment! :)
Brings back my HS days. Started judo years before we did wrestling in gym class. First two things you learn about wrestlers is that they don't know how to fall and they don't expect to be thrown above the waist and drilled into the mat with force. At the experienced level, they are almost impossible to throw cleanly. Never liked the scoring system in wrestling though.
very cool, im lovin all those throws! i am curious, though, how the transition was for you from judo to wrestling. was it difficult not going on your back when you were on the bottom? i train judo and bjj but i've never wrestled. it seems like that would be the biggest change--not putting your back on the ground.
@eamonob84 It's not that hard, the only hard part i guess would be over bent stance. But during wrestling, you'll probably rely on your judo alot, all u gotta do is get use to over bent.
Would really appreciate it if you guys shared this video so I could get this 30,000 views again! (My old account got reset) Thumbs up, share, sub! Thanks!
@coltsfan920 Oh for sure! It took me a long while to get my muscles accustom to wrestling, as well as the lower stance. But once that was learned, I was able to learn wrestling technique, and mix it with my Judo. And if there was any doubt, I'd fall back on Judo!
Nice video Hay listen Im getting back in to Martial arts I trained MMA for 3 yrs .Cant you tell me is there lots of time where you expose your back to a rear neck choke by posting on all fours? I have these weird questions spinning in my head and just want to get some idea.FYI Im 43 now so Im not a pup been out of the game for 8yrs.
@turbokitty222 Depends on what rules you are playing by. Wrestling, no there isn't much danger exposing yourself. In judo, that position would be considered suicide. I would advise against exposing your back for any martial art, except wrestling, where it would signal a pin. Hope that helps!
I remember somewhere typed on Youtube that a father wanted to improve his sons wrestling and went to see Matt Hughes for wrestling advice. Matt Hughes replied by saying "learn Judo". From watching this I now know why.
Sure man, ill have to look around, and brush the dust off :) Anything in particular you want to see?
