This album was a graduation gift to me in 1975,I am looking at this album as I speak.John Fogerty has been and always will be a part of my rock and roll life.
Great version of this classic oldie .. JF really gives it a full-on workout, as only he can. P.S. .. I'm also a lifelong die-hard Brian Wilson fan .. & Brian did a rather little-known, obscure, & more-subdued version of his own of this song .. very rare, from the late 70s .. but very good also ...
@Jan3948 " John Fogerty couldn't sing a bad song if he tried..." So I'm guessing you could'nt get the audio for this video to work? Just teasing..He's one of my favorite singers but he should have left this one alone.
Fogerty does this song like Johnny Rivers would do it. Funny thing is Johnny Rivers version of Sea Cruise sounds like John Fogerty. Both versions sound like they have Johan Blohm of The Refreshments on the piano, maybe a little more pronounced in Fogerty's version!!
The full-on-energy bursts beautifully out of JF's fabulous treatment in this great version of the song. P.S. - another outstanding alternate mix of Sea Cruise was made by the peerless Brian Wilson, circa 1976. While more subdued that this rollicking upbeat version by JF, BW nonetheless makes up for that by use of his famous, various little trademark production & chord-progression tricks. An end result on comparison : both versions are equally on-par & hi-quality, when all is said & done.
Both John's & Frankie's version are great. This version is the 1st. time I have heard it. A bit slower, but still great. It's a great song no matter how you cut it.
@Indiocerveza - You are wrong, he is not the best American singer of his lifetime, he is the best ever and not only the best ever American, but worldwide, he is and will remain unsurpassed!
@atrotroa Everyone has their own opinion. I think that Robert Plant is the greatest male singer of all time. I also think that CCR was the greatest rock band of all time. I don't think that those two statements are contradictory.
I certainly agree about CCR. How can anyone resist dancing to Bad Moon Rising or Proud Mary? I suspect, however, CCR would never have gone anywhere without John Fogerty.
@MsNTK I particularly like "Fortunate Son," and "Suzy-Q" was the anthem of the Vietnam war. Guys went into battle playing "Suzy-Q." John Fogerty WAS CCR, and is a fantastic singer, but he doesn't have the range of Robert Plant. Fogerty could never have done "Raising Sand" with Alison Krause. Did you know that CCR was originally called the Golliwogs?
@TheYoungTurds1 Thanks, I couldn't remember those names, but I remembered Golliwogs because that refers to a doll that British people gave to their children for almost100 years, but has since been declared politically incorrect by the British government. Check it out on Wikipedia and you'll see why.
this is all john fogerty on this album, played all the instruments and sung all the songs, best musician ever of all time hands down, has at least 50 hits besides this one, this rocks hard.
This LP is one of Fogerty's best musical efforts. I bought it for 98 cents off the discount rack at a time when the music business wasn't paying attention to him because of the disco disaster.

Please read the prophecies of Linda Newkirk at prophecies org
Important warnings from our Lord about the Antichrist, the Two Witnesses, Revelation 12, the false rapture/alien invasion
Preachers/televangelists will say the invasion is the return of Jesus, many will believe as war and chaos break out
The Obama prophecies, sobering!

This is the best version of this song there is.

You did a good bargain back then. Last time I checked on the album, it was hard to get.
It is indeed a great song and Fogertys whisky tenor, plus the tooh tooh makes the song even more potent.
