You should learn more about your camera and lenses before you make a review. You said a lot of shit here when you obviously had no idea what you were talking about.
I love the commercial, but couldn't you put a pop filter on your microphone? I can barely understand what your saying because of all the noise created by your being too close to the mic. You could also turn on the high pass filter in your computer software.
I got this lens yesterday, and put in on my camera (D5000) and I noticed that when I hold the shutter bottom down it makes a humming noise followed by a click, is this normal?
@TheHickstead It's normal, the humming noise you hear is the AutoFocus motor and the click means that the focus is locked and if you take the photo it should come out sharp. Feel free to let me know if you have any other questions.
@shouldigetit well, first i thought it was the auto-focus, but when i turned it off, i still made that noise and clicked. Then I decided to turn VR off. When I did it, it didn't make any noise and didn't click! I turned the VR on and noticed that made the humming noise and clicked. So I think it is the VR that kicks in when I hold the shutter bottom down!
@Hidden4ce I was. Take a look at my newer videos were I sound normal. I will probably make an updated version of this review because I understand a lot more now.
@ThePigeonandfriends Thanks! I would recommend the 70-300 because the longer the range of the lens the worse it is at either the beginning or end of the range. The 70-300 is also a much higher quality built lens.
@paoiedude The 55-300 is built with lower quality materials, the 70-300 also has better glass and usually the less the focal length range the better the lens. Thats why prime lenses like the 50mm F/1.8 are considered superb.
@paoiedude the 70-300 focuses faster and at the telephoto end is a Bit sharper... i have the 55-300mm and so far am glad considering how much i paid for it . since am more interested in macro and landscape
@SorinSri AF means the focus is controlled by the camera, which means if you have a body with no internal motor like the D3000,D3100,D5000,D5100,D60,D40,D40x, etc. AF-S lenses have their own motors which work great with bodies like the D3100.
@shouldigetit thanks mate , am so confused , i dont know which to buy , everyone says its not worth it the 200mm since i have the 105 , and iv been searching for hours and confused which has the better combination of quality and price :) thanks again
@shouldigetit thanks but no need to bother yourself , mostly it will be landscapes some birds and animals , iv read that also its not bad for portraits , am thinking about it as a general use , ive seen some tamron 18-250 , but iv read that they dont match the quality of the nikkor
@poisonblack83 If you are shooting anything indoors having a 2.8 lens is great! What body will you use this on? It's not about the focal length, its about the quality,
@poisonblack83 I would go with the Sigma or Tamron 70-200 2.8 because the D90 isn't too great at high iso which would be needed at about 100mm or more with the Nikon lenses.
@poisonblack83 thanks , yea and i realised it ridculous to get a new lens for only 100mm extra , now my options are the 70-300 and the 55-300 , do you kjnow if there's a big quality difference in terms of image quality ?
@poisonblack83 from what I have heard and read the 55-300 is poorly built compared to the 70-300 and the 70-300 produces better images. If you can get a sigma or tamron 70-200 2.8
The hood cutouts aren't just to 'look nice', they allow more light in the corners through out the zoom range thusly reducing vignetting while still maintaining enough hood length to provide cover for the front element. Prime lenses have circular hoods as there's no zoom, therefore no vignetting risk.
And the lens doesn't affect burst speed. By the sound of your camera, the speed of your SD card is your biggest problem. Putting the lens cap on and showing the focus speed would be more useful
great video, really informative. this is the f/4.5-5.6G right? if i get this id mainly be using it for sports, how are the football pictures you took?
activemode is for panning not fo when u are holding it. so the vr does nt correct for side movements and u get lines in ur photo, but only for PANNING AND THE LIKE.
im having the 18-55mm for my nikon d5000 at the moment, but I want to have a new one.i cant decide whether to take the 70-300mm or the 55-300mm by nikkor.which got better quality/is faster/looks bigger:D? please help me:))
@aFantabulousChick I would go with the 70-300. It looks and feels better, and usually the more range you have the less light hits the sensor and the worse the quality.
I have nikon d3000 with 18-55mm. I started about a year ago. I saved some money and i was thinking what lens to buy. nikon 70-200 is too expensive for me but i was looking at sigma 70-200 2.8. Sigma is about 840 euros. but for that price i could get nikon 70-300 and nikon 35mm... can't decide what to do ...
@dsigirllover Thanks for watching. I used an external mic for the voiceover at the end and I was sick when I recorded this with the camera lens on the body. I have a big vocal range. Please feel free to check out my channel and other videos.
is this ok for wedding if u dont have the money to get the pro ones?

IF stands for Internal Focusing which means the lens barrel does not rotate. It does not mean it'll be silent (that would be the SWM)

@TheHickstead There you go, that's probably it. VR physically moves the lens so thats probably the mechanics inside.

@shouldigetit you shud do more reviews i liked this
TheHickstead 6 months ago
@TheHickstead
the clicking sound is the VR being engaged and the humming sound is your VR doing its job.
half press you shutter = one click (VR is engaged), Humming sound (VR is working)
aftter depressing your shutter button you'll hear another click, that means your VR function disengaged..
