  • The top comment is great, I can't understand a woman who is proud of Bible stuff. I believe in God, but I hate how churches worked to use his name as a way to make people suffer while they make money. Stupid.

  • 1:04:55 I just have to say, this quote about "factual realism" and "practical realism" seems moronic. Isn't most factual realism practical in a sense? Isn't "practical realism" another way of saying "a convenient lie?" Isn't the author glorifying ignorance, as long as it is useful to somebody? This seems like social darwinism, and rather stupid.

  • These guys are getting so stale... They spend their lives trying to prove that God doesn't exist? How unoriginal and uninteresting. Yes, religion has been responsible for many atrocious occurrences, and yes, people who believe in God can be simple-minded and seemingly delusional, but it is just as much a presumption to say that God does not exist as it is to say that God exists. No one knows anything. And don't forget, Einstein, far more significant than these two men, believed in God.

  • @mdilla11 The reason behind it is more to counter religion than as to whether or not God exists. As a society, we have witnessed religion used time and time again as a tool to hinder both social progress and scientific exploration. One of Dennett's focusing points in his explanations for his work deal with the (wrong) idea that belief in God is the only way one can have morality, and that religious belief is the driving force behind willful ignorance of science. Is that really so uninteresting?

  • "Her insan doğar, yaşar, ve ölür" means "Every human being is born, lives and dies"

  • mere twisting and ignorance... the God of the Bible does not focus on eternal hell, though He is serious about hell; he focuses instead on the eternal salvation provided so that not a single soul have to suffer hell: "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, so that WHOSOEVER believes should NOT perish but have ETERNAL LIFE (in Heaven and not Hell)." How pitiful an attempt to distort the love of God for humanity...

  • @pianOracle Notice that this quote only applies for "whosoever believes." The implication being that whosoever does NOT believed is NOT saved... which brings us back to Dennett's original point. True, many more-liberal Christians have (to their credit) shifted focus on the message from hellfire to salvation, and some even to outright tolerance. Yet the message of eternal punishment not only still remains heavily in the old testament, but indeed in the minds of far too many living Christians.

  • @Jafandahalf I'm not sure if you took time personally to read the Bible (not catechism but the Bible) and see what it has to say on the process of hell. If you would turn the pages of your e-Bible or if u have an actual one, to Rev. 19:17-21, you'll notice that in v. 20, the beast and the false prophet are BOTH cast alive into the lake of fire. The rest are KILLED by the sword. This is not intended to be Bible study, so if you want to find out who the rest is, feel free...

  • @Jafandahalf the point I'm making is the rest are killed, not tormented eternally. Now, check out Revelation 20: 7-10. A resurrection takes place! The lost are resurrected and Ha'satan tempts them once more. Void of the Spirit of God, they fall yet again. V. 9 states that fire will "DEVOUR" those deceived. Again, NO mention of humans being eternally tormented in hell, but LO! Read v. 10, and of course, I need not explain to you which 3 characters are spoken of since you have ..

  • @Jafandahalf ...enough intelligence to understand. Perhaps, if Christians took science more seriously, their lack of futile acceptance without questioning would lead them to accurately search the Holy Scriptures, instead of merely accepting what has been told to the from generations on & forth. The Bible declares NOWHERE that there is eternal torment for non-believers. It DOES declare however, that once the lost suffer it, there is no more hope for their salvation. No purgatory.

  • @Jafandahalf you're ABSOLUTELY correct! in other words. eternal punishment indeed still remains heavily in the minds of far too many living (not only Christians) but I'd say PEOPLE in general. It is a spiritual distortion, even an attack on the character of a loving God who desires to save humanity, NOT destroy it. For, had He desired to merely destroy it, He would not logically have sent His only begotten son. Hell is not an eternal torment but a death of eternal length.

  • @Jafandahalf only 3 characters are said to suffer eternal torment in the Bible: Lucifer, the beast (whoever that is) and the false prophet (whoever he is!) Notice how even the demons aren't said to have to suffer eternal damnation THOUGH we know for a fact that they've been (well we Christians. not yall..) contributing to a deceptive story from the foundation of biblical earth. 3 characters. No more! Yet, there is NO turning back from that death. That's why Grace stepped in first!

  • @Jafandahalf if you're reading this in its entirety, do not look @ it as more than me enlightening you on concepts that perhaps you've always been left in the dark about or just never encountered: Isaiah 66: 22-24, Old testament prophecy on new earth and heaven events. Highlight v. 24, where we'll see (assuming we'll all make it who are sincere) CORPSES of rebels, who's worms will not die, who's fire will not be quenched. NO reference of souls being tormented??? No. None.

  • @Jafandahalf finally, for this series, let me point, since I believe you'll ask: who are those rebels? What are they rebelling against???" Well, those rebels simply rebel against God's grace. There is literally no reason in the world why anyone should be lost and go to hell. We were all awaiting the death penalty attached to sin. We have all been given the bail through Jesus-Christ. However! If you refuse to leave the jail, no one can force you out. Rebels chose to stay bound.

  • Woah dude, it's like this guy is looking into my soul. :O

  • To anyone watching this video who might read the comments - a note - Female Genital Mutilation in the name of religious absurdities is not ended; it's still alive and well and being practiced in Africa and other countries. If you want to know more just google the term, don't listen to to ignorant comments that say it's ended. It's barbaric and still happening as we speak to poor little helpless girls. It's a tragedy

  • @GrissomLovesSara Certainly FGM still occurs in Indonesia and Malaysia.

  • The benefit of science is clear: American lifespans have more than doubled over the last 120 years thanks to improvements in food preparation and storage, medical advances, waste disposal and living conditions. Religions share little with that, and if we attribute certain wars to faith-based causes it is many million lives in the hole.

  • @redbird82ify If we attribute all wars* whether a second hand or a direct cause.

  • Science is observation-based whereas religion is faith-based, which are essentially polar opposites of a logic continuum. As I see it, religion prepares you for death whereas science improves life. If fear of gods makes you a better person in life I have no problem with it: It's the hypocrite that causes me fits.

  • god is a cunt

  • @13:50,

If Google translate is accurate then the sentence isn't always true ; it's just true in general.

  • @TheFlanker35 The translation is - every human being is born, lives and dies. Which bit do you think is not always true?

  • @SueMoseley,

Then Google translator isn't perfect. I got a slightly different translation. Something to the effect of "every human is born, grows up and works, and then dies." I don't remember exactly what I got, but it was a little different. Thanks for translating it though. I guess humans are still better than machines.

  • also i will respond to 33:00 . How can God issue out 'eternal punishment'? well how can god issue out 'eternal blessing' regardless of the evil you have done AND THEN repented of it? isn't that frightening also? If you yourself read the bible properly, you would see that God 'put on flesh' and came down to be beaten beyond recognition, suffered, fasting, and to carry our sins so that we DO NOT go to eternal damnation... also, Jesus even went to HELL to preach, and FREED THEM. did you even read?

  • well, if you don't believe in God, how did the universe create itself? don't say big bang, dont say virtual particles, dont say quantum fluctuations, and dont say inflation of the singularity either. all of those things violate laws of conservation of energy, inertia, and causality. Have a nice night. Neither Dawkins nor Denette has any substantial ground to begin any claims. Also Atheism is the belief that there isn't a God, therefore, prove the plausibility or correctness of your beliefs. -_-

  • @chromeninjar3d ... OK, so God created the universe and then promptly abandoned it; letting war, famine, rape, murder and prejudice continue unchecked. My question to you then is... what good is he? Your God is useless; worse than.... because he CAN do something and obviously chooses to do nothing.

  • @GrissomLovesSara heh? wait, go read the bible before you make claims against God.... YOu expect God to give us laws, have us break them, then run to our every rescue? even AFTER he painstakingly warned us with details on consequences..? the question is. How stupid are we to live like this and always wants some heartwarming intercessor for the rubbish we continually do. Luckily Jesus is the answer, but you can't expect to take advantage of God.

  • @chromeninjar3d Why did God wait until 2000 years ago to 'give us laws?' Humans have roamed the Earth far longer than that. Didn't God think THOSE humans deserved laws too? Come on! Men wrote the bible; woman-hating men! As a woman, I have zero respect for the bible. It may as well be a rap song. I don't consider myself chattel and I laugh at a book that suggests I should be. Any woman who holds a bible in her hands and gets a good feeling should have her head examined! Seriously!

  • @GrissomLovesSara What humans roamed the earth? Go read Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy, oh, and "Genesis" -_- There were laws all throughout... God didn't wait for some 'BC' to put his foot down. And as for those 'humans roaming the earth' you probably believe in cavemen... -_-. anyways, those women situations are in the old testament. individual freedom is expressed after the crucifiction. any unlawful usage of women are wrong. Stop holding on to olden customs, which is indeed expired

  • @chromeninjar3d 'Those women situations?' Sounds like you care an awful lot! If those old customs are indeed expired how come women are still treated as subhuman in the name of religion all over the world? Why doesn't God get off his lazy ass and send down a NEW Bible that would explicitly prohibit 'unlawful usage of women?' And war, rape and murder? 2000 years is a long time to go without an update. God should show his face and lead his children instead of hiding in the attic Terrible Father

  • @GrissomLovesSara "How comes women are still treated as sub-human in religion all over the world?" Not in non-demonational christianity they aren't. I cannot account for other religions. Anyways what is your problem? Men were unlawfully castrated to remain loyal servants to the king. The king then took them and did as he pleased with them, so stop going around acting as if God just hates women, because you aren't the only ones who's had it 'hard' throughout history....

  • @chromeninjar3d Female Genital Mutilation: The function of this practice, whether mild or severe, is ultimately to reduce a woman's sexual desire, and so ensure her virginity until marriage. The more extensive procedure, involving stitching of the vagina, has the same aim but reducing the size of the vagina is also intended to increase the husband's enjoyment of the sexual act. ANY world in which this exists has no God except a God who hates women with the passion of Jack The Ripper No Thanks!

  • @GrissomLovesSara I said to get off of Old customs!. Do you like it when Black people run around and blame society for the bullcrap that is happening JUST because of the OLD SLAVERY DAYS? well doesn't that get old?... Do you like when black people throw arguments at you always stemmed from slavery?? Doesn't that get old? Are they to hold on to those old things and use it as their only paraphernalia given the fact that they are indeed free now? Isn't that logical?

  • @chromeninjar3d Sorry to inform you, but racism and sexism are alive and well. If you can't acknowledge that, there's no point. Go read about Female Genital Mutilation then get back to me. It's real and it's going on in the name of God/religion as we speak. It's easy to dismiss it when it's not your genitals getting scraped off with a sharp rock.

  • @GrissomLovesSara I know these things are still alive and well, but Slavery isn't, unless you bring up some foreign country who still practices that.. The point is that: Now, Today, Slavery is GONE, and should not be the ONLY PARAPHERNALIA for any racial argument. And in like manner, Female Genital Mutilation is a sad past, however you cannot use that as your old argument, because had God PREFERED this to happen to women, he would have made sure it would not END. Easy Job for Him right? right!.

  • @GrissomLovesSara Woah there! I do not know about all of that. I also do not know about the bible telling anybody to stitch anybody's vagina up, nor destroy their clitoris... seriously, that deserves a 'wtf' response! wtf kind of selfish manmade crap would that be! I am not involved in that, and God did not tell anybody to that, therefore blaming him for the bad things that happen, is blaming him for not making the world a peaceful peachy-creme funland given that we sin against him daily!. -_-

  • @GrissomLovesSara that's exactly right. god either doesn't give a shit about countless horrors being suffered, or is powerless to do anything. pretty useless, either way, ain't "he"?

  • @slyjokerg I'd say he's utterly useless unless you're a penis in Africa who wants a tight sheath... then he delivers at the expense of some young, grossly mutilated young girl. Wasn't it Lot who tossed his daughter into the gang to be raped until she simply died? This whole idea that women are made from Adam's rib pisses me off. Anyone with a modicum of common sense can see the Bible was written by men for men and to keep women barefoot, penis sheaths; cooks and caretakers.

  • @GrissomLovesSara couldn't concur more. religion's denigration of women is pretty much universal. and female circumcision has absolutely no remotely legitimate purpose but to thwart totally normal and healthy sexual desire and pleasure.

  • @slyjokerg Absolutely, and why? because these men consider themselves such rutting dogs that they can't control themselves if a woman were to have sexual charisma and forwardness?? and also then she might cheat which means she could be sentenced to death or gangraped as punishment? It's too twisted to understand. The Bible also teaches that genitals are unclean and need to be cropped off in boys so maybe that extends to girls too. .I thank the universe every day that I live in 'keep my clit' USA

  • @chromeninjar3d among a list of stupid things you said - "Also Atheism is the belief that there isn't a God". no it isn't. know wtf you are talking about before you speak. it is far more complicated than that, and doesn't even have to include that notion at all.

  • @slyjokerg uh..? what? you are setting yourself up to be brutally owned - though I won't take the card. Atheism is the belief that there isn't ANY FORM OF GOD, thus the 'insignificance of religion'. it is not the disbelief in "God" personally, it is the entire belief against worshiping any form of god. Buddhist do not believe in God, Muslims might not believe in God, Hindus might not believe in God, but THEY HAVE THEIR OWN GODS. Atheism is against ALL BELIEFS IN GOD. Do your studies!

  • @chromeninjar3d no, atheism is the lack of belief in deities. you don't have to believe there is no god to be an atheist. some also believe that, but it isn't a prerequisite, nor automatic. "owned" LOL. "do your studies." i am an atheist, and always have been. atheism is the lack of and rejection of religious assertions, particularly that deities exist. it is comical that you say things like "muslims might not believe in god." ALL MUSLIMS BELIEVE IN GOD. funny that you separate YOUR god.

  • @slyjokerg Theres no point in arguing with this idiot (chromeninjar3d). Hes been proven wrong on almost every single video he has visited, and will probably always be wrong.

  • @slyjokerg highlighting "owned" is on your own neck, because I said I won't take the card... And you typed the same thing to me. Atheism is the belief in the insignificance of worshipping any form of diety/god/idol etc... I never said Buddhists were atheists, but they were nonbelievers in terms of my God, as I am to their god. Even if Muslims believe in God, that is not the point, it is that Atheism is essentially against it.

  • Does Science tell you when your Life will end?

  • I wanted to like this guy because of his tone and delivery, but I can't get past thinking he's just a dick. He's like the dickhead who says Hitchens was actually religious or that there are no atheists in foxholes. Not only that, but gay used to be a slur -- dude, that's so gay. The homosexual community has been able to turn a past slur into a positive descriptor. Dennett is a fucking ignoramus for leveraging the gay analogy to promote the term "brights".

  • @StormTrek you have your head up butt. dennett is an atheist, and isn't someone that would ever say anything remotely like hitchens was religious. they were both among the 4 horsemen, ffs. he said NOTHING to demean gay people. you are obviously looking to get upset, because you completely misconstrued what he said. he completely supports equality for homosexuals.

  • @slyjokerg He did say something like Hitchens was religious; he said reflective theists don't really believe in God. He leveraged the gay movement as an analogy to support the use of 'Brights' to describe materialists, which is in fact dim as there are no restrictions against 'Bright-Bright' marriage.

  • Do any of you know why the Vatican exists? Because in the centre of it's circle, is St. Peter's Square. The Exact burial of St. Peter who invented the Catholic Church. How do I know my religion (Catholocism) is real? The Dead Sea Scrolls, Paul The Apostle, The Knights Templar, The Shroud of Turin, and the evidence left by God to us humans. It is a hope of us understanding what it was like in the time of Jesus. In Jesus' time, Athiesm never existed. But Satanicism was in the form of Athieism

  • @iAppleinyourface LMAO. ummmm, no. atheism has absolutely nothing to do with satanism. you are clueless. atheism lacks belief in satan exactly the same as it lacks belief in god. atheism is not an alternative belief system, you dolt. and none of the shit you named proves god exists. you just listed a bunch of bullshit you blindly believe because you start out blindly believing the whole thing, making everything automatically fit it. you are a nut.

  • @slyjokerg I just listed things that have proven and even scientifically proven that God exists and tell me what gave the big bang theory its push? Its like Domino's if nothing happened, nothing could have possibly pushed it down right? Wrong, that's why you athiests are a bunch of bafoons. Electricity is another example. Like God, you can look at a light bulb and see light, but can you literally see the electricity? No. Same goes with God.

  • @iAppleinyourface LOL none of anything you said proves that god exists. and no one knows what "gave the big bang... its push." not knowing that does not mean that you can pull out of your ass what you choose as an explanation. electricity? LOL. you can't see the wind either. doesn't prove god exists. you are just making up your own evidence. saying something is evidence of god doesn't demonstrate that it is. you clearly have no education in logic. LMAO

  • @slyjokerg The evidence has been left on the face of the earth. Have you bothered to look it up? No, because no matter how ignorant you are, you just don't want to face the fact that God will look upon your life upon death, and see how much faith you've put into him. How old are you? Because that will determine how much knowledge you know about the Holy land and evidence inside of it, and what Rome has left for you. That's why God tests our faith every day. Unless Hell is for you.

  • @slyjokerg It's also like saying, When did Athiesm begin? 18th Century? What existed before that and still exists today? Religion. So that means everyone believed in God and still believes in God no matter what. Athiesm was just an opinion and a thought nothing more. Just someone losing their faith in God, and how can you prove that God does not exist? Where is the written proof that God does not exist?

  • @iAppleinyourface LMAO. AGAIN, you don't even know how to SPELL atheism. it is not "athiesm," dummy. atheism existed WAY before religion, you idiot. and it is NOT a belief system. it is simply LACKING religious beliefs. and wtf are you talking about? everyone believed in god? LOL . wrong. everyone still does? obviously WRONG as well. i NEVER had faith in god, and million are the same. and no one can prove god doesn't exist. that doesn't prove god exists. nothing can be "written proof" of it.

  • @slyjokerg LMAO I don't see what's funny here. You telling me ATHEISM is not a belief, when first of all it is because it has no proof of whether God doesn't exist. And second of all, You clearly have not taken History to learn about how long ago Christianity, Islam and Judaism have existed. That is why Atheists are the most clueless people on earth. When it comes to their death they only start believing. I want you to watch the Exorcism of Anneliese. See how science fails.

  • @slyjokerg The strongest of all evidence I have is Padre Pio. He faced all of the challenges and temptations. He had the stigmata of Jesus Christ's wounds and he lived in the 20th century. You know what the doctors had said about his wounds? Their not healing. Saints are a good example as well. There is a reason why most saints are kept in caskets. Their flesh does not decompose. That is enough to give you a u-turn to school.

  • @iAppleinyourface LMAO @ "padre pio." holy shit are you committed to your delusion. nothing more than more hoax nonsense. people have been creating and telling ridiculous things and stories in an effort to try to glorify themselves and legitimize their beliefs and assertions. there are about 9000 reasonable explanations for the ridiculous bs about pio and many others with similar claims. you simply believe it because you want it to be true and are starting from the presumption god exists.

  • @slyjokerg Oh did I just triple kill Atheism? I'm sorry, I should have been less evidential. As you have cursed Padre Pio and God, I'm pretty sure you are going to Hell for that, and make the devil eat you as he likes, but i'm not here for that. Research him up since your so dilutional. That's what an atheist would say. But I ask this, If you do meet God, will you deny him further?

  • @slyjokerg You confuse yourself like a child who lost their mother, you fail to see the difference between Mythology and Religious belief. Mythology is made up if u haven't comprehended that yet. Religion has evidence to go with it as it has been passed down for centuries. If you ignore religion, you ignore the big bang theory, because after all, a Priest had discovered it. Yeah, and don't forget that we have Vatican Scientists, and one of them silenced Richard Dawkins completely.

  • @slyjokerg Do you know why you are Atheist? Because for some accurate reason, we North American's are the worst people on earth for the amount of ignorance we have in the world. We're lucky to be living in wealth, where as being in poverty, We ourselves would beg on our knees for God's salvation. But after all, the wealthiest have the hardest time getting to Heaven than the poor.

  • Comment removed

  • @slyjokerg You should just shut up now, he just raped you with life. God is real whether you like it or not. It's not a choice, It's a truth.

  • @Death190

God is only real because you were told god is real and you believe that because you were told you will not be forgiven if you do not believe. This is called indoctrination. You also did not even listen to Dennett. At 33:00 he talks about it.

  • @slyjokerg Now you tell me, what kind of disease creates holes in your hands and feet at an age of around 20. Research Padre Pio, I dare you, if you want to uncover how much atheism has to tell vs how much religion surpasses it. Like Lightning, scientists look into wondering how lightning forms and how clouds move to become storms, where as us Christians, we gaze at it in amazement, because we knew what it would be like for scientists when they come to their final judgement.

  • @slyjokerg and best of all you tell me about Satan. Satan was an angel who rejected God as well. He wanted his OWN power and to be greater than God. What happened? He got sent down. Atheists, reject God, want the power of your own self. But that's where I can put this in. Atheism is a MAN-MADE belief. It is a distinct THOUGHT with no evidence to prove why religion is a fake. Lets look at it in a different way. Your ancestors could have been Christian. Someone rejected it, and here you are.

  • @slyjokerg I like how someone (most likely iAppleinyourface) decided it would be a good idea to mark your comments as spam. That was EXTREMELY mature of them!

  • @mCmuRRRRRR people of that ilk commonly do anything they can to censor and silence anyone saying things they find threatening.

  • Hehe, when he started talking about the "supers" and the "brights" I saw 2 gangs fighting with each other "West Side Story"-style. :D

  • Im glad the person who uploaded this video keeps deleting my comments. Close-minded twit.

  • Richard Dawkins always beats around the bush, He makes people think he's smart but he's proven himself a complete idiot ONCE AGAIN. Smh

  • @MrServantofYeshua You cant really think this and expect to be though of as sane. Which particular bush has he beaten around? And how has he shown himself to be an idiot. I should be interested to see if you can put a reasoned cogent arguement together to support your ascertions

  • @1212JackJohnson I'm sorry Jack, when you learn to spell "ascertions" right by saying assertions then we can talk. For now I can't take you seriously.

  • @MrServantofYeshua @alpha2470

    Just a little info

The Most Brilliant American Scientists, among whom around 200 Nobel Laureates are regrouped at the National Academy of Science, and a study made within the group showed that 93% of them neither believed in a God nor a Superior Being...

So no one truly cares what Mentally Deficient Individuals like you think, stick with your primitive cult if you like, but know that you're a dying breed...

  • There's no proof here at all that God does not exist, now all you spoonfed Atheists give me one bit of proof? Just one...

  • I love that thanks to youtube it is currently snowing on Richard Dawkins.

  • @alpha2470

I lol when I see you christians type like that. Always the same: random capitalization, caps to emphasize, poor use of bible-esque verse. You Try to Sound like a GOSPEL but you just FAIL in Thine IGNORANCE!!

  • @Kloborgg Yeah whatever dude, you need to buy yourself a personality!

  • @alpha2470

    ...Good one?

  • I'm kind of NOMA. The future of religion in the West will become what it is here in Japan, where people have Christian weddings, Buddhist funerals and generally have no opinion of what is true or not, religion, philosophy or anything else. It won't even result in rationality, the way I think New Atheists envision it. They will simply decide that as long as they have a job and a house and a family and some friends, they simply don't feel qualified to speculate beyond that. I did like the talk.

  • I believe in God.

  • @canadianbootz1 And so what?....

  • Open your eyes people and ears, this Goat tells many LIES and his seat is reserved in Darkness!!! An Advocate of dribble, intelligence or Wisdom ? I pick Wisdom over this intelligent virus infected hardhead...he needs to be formatted!!!

  • This man will one day pass away and then he will meet his maker...I think within a millisecond he'll not only change his absurd mind but also have a repeat of all his bodily fluids suddenly pouring out of him as they did when he suddenly went into darkness...The intelligence of man is but foolishness to GOD..This ignorant person thinks he is so clever, WHAT A DICK!

  • @alpha2470 Go grab a Science textbook, your neurons, if you have any, will thank you...

  • @Varoonmg So you say! That's your bible and you should continue reading it to reinforce your belief system, I'll however remain with my bible...Honestly one day you when your scales are removed from your eyes you also will realize that Neurons are a result of THE Creator God.

  • @alpha2470 Oh will you please cease the warnings and empty threats of invisible beings, and the celestial courtroom in the sky that is going to convict us of victimless crimes?? BTW -If you don't like what Dan has to say -don't watch! Why do you christian trolls even view these vids in the first place..go away!!!

  • @Lennon4ever1 Invisible things? Isn't that what you Stoneager Pre-Historic Spoonfeds believe?? Yeah I stand by what i said you will be judged, afterall you have so much more evidence about creation than the norm. If you don't like what i have to say then thats your problem bud! Where's the tolerance? You guys are out to disprove every others beliefs and think that all that junk that you believe is it! I can comment, who the hell are you to tell me crap! Grow up!

  • @alpha2470 WTF -There's no evidence for creation or you would produce it would'nt you? And where do you get off trying to push a burden of proof on atheists? You should know what a tired old trick that is. Are we making supernatural claims? I think you're the one that needs to grow up and rationalize, but why waste my breath? I'll now try a more direct approach -Shut the FUCK UP!

  • @Lennon4ever1 lol, there's no argument you believe what you want and I'll believe what i want..Faith = hearing and believing , Science = Assumptions..So maybe you should close your analmouth piece up!! Your big words and abuse must inflate your ego telling people to shut the F up..big man on the internet luv to see you say that to my face champ! God bless and no hard feelings, i hope you find peace!

  • @alpha2470 Correction -Faith=Gullibility Have fun tough guy and yeah, I'd say it in your face and twice on Sunday!!

  • @Lennon4ever1 Whatever Softycock!

  • @alpha2470 Softycock!! -That's original!- LOL

  • After watching the rest of this I can only say--Dennett, you are a fucking duffs!

  • Intellectual hero? C'mon, get serious!

  • thumbs up if you actually went to google translate to see what proposition alpha meant

  • Awww... Dawkins looked like a little schoolboy with pride as Dennett got the award :D

  • I love Dan Dennett, but I find this particular talk to be rather Eurocentric and arbitrary in that it positions the "nothingness" of Eastern philosophy at the end of the historical timeline.

  • If religion and spirituality makes a person a more honest, morally guided, decent, respectful and meditative individual, then, good for Spirituality. Remember that not all people have intellectual interests and capacity to understand the "meaning of life" (to reason about their own existence in this World) and need something more "transcedental" and "morally conscientious" to guide their lives. Not everyone can go and get a PhD. at an university.

  • @mirarostodo you miss a core element. the type of thought process involved in believing in superstitious nonsense needs to be eliminated. it is very detrimental to the human species. it isn't just that religious belief is baseless and moronic. it is also about a basic way of thinking. to dismiss science and reason, and substitute mindless, crazy, stone age thinking, is indefensible.

  • Dennett is one of my favorite philosophers, great upload!

  • That was a really inspiring speech.

  • HMMMMM.... Didn't Dennett condone "practical realism" under cirtain circumstances? i.e. 25:30

  • I have the evidence that most christians wish they had.

I could prove to any atheist or agnostic that there is a god.

all you have to do is recieve prophecy and that's it.

I used to be an atheist so I know how it feels, believe me.

here is the evidence, just go to this church that is almost everywhere in the world and receive prophecy.

CHURCH OF GOD MINISTRY OF JESUS CHRIST INTERNATIONAL

let me know what state you live in, and I will give you the address to the closest church.

  • @lizardstyle101 Lmfao.

  • @RockAustinDXtakerRk0 I agree.

  • @daemonowner I am also now minus 1 ass.

  • @lizardstyle101 You are misunderstanding the meaning of the concept of "evidence". Evidence is something that can be positively tested (read: measured) and falsified by anyone over and over again. So you have no evidence and no proof. BUT I accept that it does not mean that God actually doesn't exist. Just don't claim to be able to prove God's existence this way, because you can't.

  • @LunaLind1 sorry to jump in, I would like to just suggest a thought if you don't mind. Having something be repeatably measurable assumes you are talking about something ongoing, like a physical law such as gravity. If God say spoke to Moses in a burning bush, there is no reason to suppose anyone could go back to the same bush and "measure" evidence for God. Yet I assure you, in a world where people see things they want to, I also fully agree to not automatically accept anything anyone says.

  • @LunaLind1 COPENHAGUEN RENTEMESTERVEJ 78, 2400 KØBENHAVN NV

go there and receive prophecy, then you can tell me if i'm delusional.

  • @Eventsbyresonance I really don't think it could even be called genocide... Isn't genocide the aggressive killing of a particular race because that race is held in low esteem? I guess that is besides the point though.

  • @Eventsbyresonance while I don't agree with your view, I must admit your comment is much more respectfully worded than most, given the one under yours.

That being said, I frankly think you make it seem as though he's an advocate for genocide! Craig obviously doesn't like the thought, and he stated recently that he'd studied the text much more closely and found key facts that make it only an overtaking of land (their goal was to inhabit the land, not to simply slaughter large scores of people)

  • That Turkish phrase isn't just true - its tautological. Awesome talk.

  • @resurgam44 his talks are always awesome.

  • Dan's beard is the source of his philosophical power, I'm sure of it.

  • investigate the work of William Lane Craig and Alvin Plantinga (William Lane Craig is widely considered today's most distinguished Theist philosopher) if you are truly concerned with the pursuit of wisdom. In this I am not stating that William Lane Craig is right, and I am not discrediting Dennett, I am simply issuing a challenge to Atheists: know what you believe, search proofs as well as refutations.

  • @chaos it is just unreal that people actually try to trot out willie craig as a source of wisdom. he is a buffoon. his assertions are inundated with logical fallacies. and almost everything he says requires the presupposition that it is true, and that his entire line of thought is correct. virtually all of it is simply his musings, not fact. atheism isn't a belief system. we are atheists as a result of reason and science demanding we be. atheism is the rejection of baseless religious claims.

  • @slyjokerg Good answer, but i'm afraid your logic to be an athiest is unreal. Given for instance, How do we know that the Earth isn't upside down? How do we you know that Athiesm is true? Because a man said it? That's why religion is a force that science can not defeat. Religion was not made by man, it came from God, which is why the Covenant, The Cross of Jesus, The Shroud of Jesus, Saints, the pillar of the 10 commandments still exist today. Why? Because ppl have no faith.

  • @iAppleinyourface you shouldn't be discussing anything about what an atheist is. you don't even know how to spell it. it isn't athiest. there is nothing true of false in atheism. it isn't a belief, or a belief system. it is the lack belief in and rejection of certain baseless assertions. and the earth being upside down as a concept is 100% irrelevant to the issue. religion coming from god requires the presupposition that it did, and that god even exists.

  • @iAppleinyourface some people have no faith, yes. but not nearly enough, because no one should have blind faith in anything that has no evidentiary basis. and the ten commandments are a joke. have you killed anyone for working on the sabbath lately? have you arrested anyone for coveting? please. LOL

  • @slyjokerg For example how do you know that you are for sure athiest? Because you think you are. Being Athiest means you BELIEVE that religion is a fake. But to believe something is to mean that you yourself are unsure of that choice. I see Athiests as people who have lost faith. But since you rely on science, does science bond 2 ppl together? does it resurrect ppl? I don't think so. Why? because science doesn't have the power to do so. Athiests just ignore something called LIFE.

  • @iAppleinyourface again, ATHEIST, not athiest. and i know for sure i am an atheist by virtue of being one. LOL. being an atheist means i reject religious claims. i haven't lost faith. i never had any to lose, and it wouldn't matter if i did. having blind faith in such silliness is wholly irrational and baseless, so i don't. and yes, an argument can be made that science can bond people, but that is irrelevant. it doesn't provide proof of god even if it doesn't. its a non sequitur.

  • @slyjokerg which means you were born with it, not attributed into it. Which resulted in parental influence. To your respect, you reject all religious claims, but do you know what you Atheist's have lacked to see all your life. The Religious War between Muslims, Christians, and Jews. What's happening today between Palestine and Israel? Do you want to know how long this war has been going on? Science can't really prove anything. How do you know when your life will end for example? 2, or 5 years?

  • @chaosrokkfreak Seriously? You are saying that the man who proposes divine command theory - the theory that it was morally good for the Israelites to slaughter Canaanites and drive them out of the promised land simply because god said so is the best example of the pursuit of wisdom and the most distinguished theistic Philosopher. Even when I was devout Christian I would have been ashamed of that man's views! What he defends is genocide, no matter what name or spin he gives it!

  • investigate the work of both of these philosophers (William Lane Craig is widely considered today's finest Theist philosopher), especially if you are committed to the truth (Which either may be the truth portrayed in Craig's work or Dan Dennet's).

  • Likewise, most to all of my Atheist friends hold the belief that Atheism is the absolute reality, without having done any scientific or philosophical research whatsoever. If asked whether or not they know Dan Dennett or Richard Dawkins, they will all say "who are they?!" Dennett criticizes the social aspects of Christianity, but offers no refutation of many philosophical arguments for the existence of a god, as set by philosophers like William Lane Craig and Alvin Pantinga. I encourage you to

  • @chaosrokkfreak there are a lot of criticisms of William Lane Craig's arguments they all land on non sequiturs and rely on the conclusion for the premises to be true to begin with.

  • Hello,I am Petronella Purnot, and i make my on storie, about God and the Devil."God have a meeting with the Devil. The Devil ask:What it is,what you want from me?God answer:I am going to make the World,And I want you to make on creature for me.The Devil says:Oke,What do you like, that I making?God answer: MAN!!The Devil ask: And why MAN?God answer:Because,That creature,Calling Human,Will be later,Killing the World,I make before. And that is realy a: DEVILSWORK!!! The end.

  • A LIGHT IN THE CELLAR—The leaders of the Christian Right are purely in it for the money. They've reached an agreement w/the powers that be. Since 1947 Christians have lost EVERY major court case. We now have shops open on the Sabbath; abortion {infanticide}; a ban on school prayer; homosexual "marriage"; no-fault divorce & unmarried couples living together (the laws against this stand unenforced).

  • It seems 90% of what he said about Theists can also be applied to Atheists, rose tinted glasses syndrome maybe?

  • I live in the "Bible belt" of Texas. Here, it is hard to say which is worse to come out as homosexual, or non-theistic. Homosexuals at least get to be some group of girls "gay best friend." Life here is dictated by those who "believe." I at least have a foot out of the closet, but as far as I can project, my family will never know aside from my father perhaps, and dating will always start with the other being allowed to assume that my baptist background still holds true. Trimmed for word count

  • Dan Dennet is a fucking liar! He mocks religious leaders about admiting they don't understand the fundamentals of their faith, right after implying that scientific experts don't do the same, and that's bullshit! Ask any scientific expert if they understand the fundamental forces and they will tell you they don't! All physics is based on the fundamental forces but not even the experts understand them. I'm unwinsis, and that is your dose of truth for today.

  • @unwinsis more like a dose of missed the point and got what he said wrong. he went on for a while about how many scientists use formulas that they don't know how to derive, and everybody knows there's no testable grand unified theory yet. religious leaders are fingers pointing at the moon. scientific experts have gone there.

  • Dan actually made every meme in the world. aka god. mindblown

  • Dan Dennett is younger than Dawkins? I'm stunned haha

  • @IconsOfTeleplay I have another question, why would they flag your comment as spam?

  • @unwinsis : I denounce atheism (with its denial of metaphysics) as it is the undeniable condition of ALL lower life-forms. To call a man an atheist is the supreme insult as it places the intellectual worth of all men on equal footing with the intellects of worms, mites, maggots, serpents, bed bugs, spirochetes & crickets.

  • @IconsOfTeleplay Yes, atheists seem to ignore the fact that theism(for lack of a better word) is a direct result of higher intelligence and manifests universally, independently and exclusively among the human species.

  • @unwinsis : Atheism (sans quotation marks) is an impossible position/predicament for sentient Beings.A human (or humanoid) must delude himself in order to assert that the faculties of Man are the be-all & end-all of measure in regards to infinity.

  • @unwinsis Actually the idea of a god or theism is a result of, for of want of a better phrase, 'word of mouth'. We are not born with an inherent theist belief. However the search for answers is most probably a an ingrained motivation. This gap in our knowledge is most easily answered although, obviously inaccurately with theism.

  • @1980toc Imagine science has answered every question about the universe it possibly can. Then, all atheists on earth built a spaceship and left to colonize another planet, free of theism. I'll bet in only a few generations, religions would begin to sprout up and flourish, even if none of the colonists ever breathed a word about any kind of theism to their children. I could be wrong though, what do you think would happen?
