An extract from Wikipedia for "Easy Lover" query: "The Mission 1 theme in the arcade version of Double Dragon II: The Revenge (Mission 2 in the NES version), composed by Kazunaka Yamane, is an instrumental rendition of the song" - just to make things clear ;)
I remember going apeshit over this game coming out on the NES, and I've always loved the song Easy Lover, but never until now have I made the correlation. This is hilarious to me.
The composer even admitted it was an homage to the song...it's just slowed down. To the person that actually uploaded this video, how the fuck can you not see the similarities?
The similarity is actually very prevalent as soon as the the song begins, the entire intro is the exact same fucking intro the the song Easy Lover.
I found the song that inspired the first level of Streets of Rage 2, put in Bass Value - Do You Wanna Party...same fucking song. :)
I would have called them liars straight to their faces if they'd said otherwise. I think the similarity to "Easy Lover" is what makes it sound so epic, though!
@HYBRIDARTS: Oddly enough, the box art for Double Dragon 2 on NES was the same in all four of the regions it was released in (North America, Europe, Japan, and Austrailia). I assume the artist was a fan of Tetsuo Hara, the artist behind Hokuto No Ken, an anime/manga series where Double Dragon was inspired from.
@trunxkam45: Really, this box art was drawn by him!? That's awesome to know. I was under the assumption it was from an imitator. Oddly enough, in the PC-Engine remake of Double Dragon 2, Billy and Jimmy Lee heavily resemble Hokuto No Ken characters Kenshiro and Falco respectively.
Less than an action movie music it's like a training BGM for a Karate Kid rip off, you know, where the weak guy is tired of getting his ass kicked every day at school and some old asian man teach him his ancestors' secret arts (just because), then we see him training every where. Later we see them practicing a special move at the beach or in the country before some unknown martial arts championship where things are settled. Easy plots become classics.
The Double Dragon series is one of the best video game series ever made. The original arcade game is just stellar, the three on the NES were really good, and Super Double Dragon on the SNES was probably among the best in the series despite the fact that it was a rushed game and released while being incomplete.
This remix rocks. If anything, I'm plugging for a modern-system Double Dragon that adheres to the old-school predecessor principles. I'd buy it.
@jregley Not to mention, Super Double Dragon is largely unappreciated to this day. Perhaps it was the beginning of the 2D fighting game craze/ era or the rising popularity of Street Fighter 2.
When I was a child, I used to play Double Dragon 2 on the NES. My brother and I would play on it in one of my dad's bedrooms all the time. I still love the game though. Every day, when I come home from work, I'll just play it on the emulator from my PC.

Then I suggest you listen to it again. Both the beat and the chord progression are the same, and the intros are almost exactly the same.
Up until 0:44 this could easily pass for a remix of Easy Lover.

Yeah the beginning is exactly the same. Well this version of course, the original nes version didnt have that intro.
