  • Man...She's hot.

  • 2 people are not kids in America

  • My godthis is scary? Why does everyone say Rick stley had the wierdest videoA

  • She's hot

  • I remember when this was a big hit back when it first was released. The first 30 seconds of this video were considered cutting edge back in the early days of making music videos. They still stand up today, as does this song. It's great that Kim has released a brand new cd this year.

  • this is terrifying!

  • mega 80,s

  • Thumbs up if you're still watching this because I find it impossible to get past the first 30 seconds.

  • 2 kids aren't in America.

  • WHO REMEMBERS THIS FROM THE JIMMY NEUTRON MOVIE????? BEST MOVIE FOR THIS SONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Kim, u rock!!!!

  • We're The Kids In America try stopping us mwahahaha >:D

  • Kid's in America by British songwriter Kim Wilde

    What wrong with that title?

  • @PetarReviews BRITISH.

  • Song about how the youth feel that life is meaningless. Now its used to hawk Pizza rolls. Now thats America!

  • This is the video I use for my Kim Wilde playlist. Thank you for the upload.

  • Clean video? So there's a dirty video, too?

  • @Edgehead10075 LOL, no! I say 'clean' when the video has no TV stations logos or any titles pasted on it.

  • @Chiro13Videos You're such a tease I was going crazy looking for the dirty version before I put this one on to see what the difference was

  • @Edgehead10075 yeah she doez this naked on another vid

  • remember this in the Digimon movie?

  • But she's British?

  • Comment removed

  • okay i love america but this song is fucking gay

  • Comment removed

  • I had such a crush.

  • Am I the only one who thinks of Digimon:The Movie anytime he hears this song?

  • @bloodlustthehedgehog eh this reminds me of the old nickalodean when they would play this song or parts of the song during cartoon promos or w/e back in the day.

  • @Cfknight13 truth right their brother hhahahah

  • @bloodlustthehedgehog yea some of us dooo too hahah

  • what year is this song?

Released in the U.S. in 1982

  • Excellent song, excellent quality video. Thanks for posting!

  • one direction sung this on x factor :D

  • ロンドン出身のKim Wildeさんのこの曲はドイツでヒットしましたが、タイトルはKids in America.なんですよね。

  • new york to california well the new wave came, tho' it crashed on the shore...

  • Ha ha I had the hots for Kim Wilde as a young bloke growing up. Now I remember why...

  • Iconic song, iconic video and Kim looking stunning. Timeless.

  • Wow what pretty blue eys!

  • in love with her mouth (braces)

  • Yeah, I'd say she doesn't look leprous...

  • I lvoe this song... orginal yet catchy ;D

  • I used to lay in bed and masturbate thinking about kim wilde, Cmon..I was 16!

  • Why is she singing this song if she is british?

  • @DzekoVelez not sure why she is....but I know her brother who is also british is a cowriter. it is a classic for sure but lyrics towards the end are amusing. FROM NEW YORK TO EAST CALIFORNIA...it is obvious this british group wrote it, but I still love it and british people....

  • @damien19735 The lyrics are damn odd to begin with. "Were the kids in america" .... why would an english band sing that. I don't blame a lot of people for thinking that the covered version by the muffs is the original. It makes a lot more sense for them to sing.

  • @AvatarKyosho I agree...I still like this version the best...but there are many bands..her brother and someone else actually wrote this song...but like when Elton John did Philadelphia Freedom? He is British? WTF?

  • @DzekoVelez envy

  • @DzekoVelez why not??

  • i wish i was around when this was released. Her voice is amazing :')

  • Does anyone remember which 80's movie had this song playing in it at an indoor? pool scene (I think the kids had broken into it during the night?) I can't remember or find it for the life of me!

  • The Kids in America grew up..but The 80's was the Best of Times.Back to the Future Fasttimes at Ridgemont High..The Cars, New Order and DEVO!

  • Not a bad song, not a great song. But when compared to the dreck of today, it appears downright okay. By and large the 80s sucked dirty cock; the 90s sucked hair ass; and the 00s such sassy sock.

  • @guinnesstrail

You're as cynical as I am. brother. It is a nightmare, but it might be the end of the world as we knew it...

    No great loss.

  • Around this time when this song came out in 1981 there were a lot of great bands coming out of the UK. 79' to 86' was a great time for music, after this, music just went down hill, the big music execs started pushing Rap and Hip Hop at the end of the 80s and kids started buying into it and its been that way ever since.

  • The best song from the 80's!!!!!!

    Brian Scott Miller.

  • I first heard this song in Adian Quinn's RECKLESS.

  • wow I was 16 years old and i thought i knew everything there had to know in life. just a dumb stupid punk.

  • GAD! She was smoking Hot back then!!!!

  • id tap that shit

  • Synthesizers RULED!!!!!!!!!!

  • Can we kill the Jonas Brothers, and MANY of the other NO talent disney stars

and lets throw Edward Cullen in the mixer as well!

  • @lowrideroldies13 obviously America you fricken mongo tard diptwit.

  • Len did it a hundred times better. I know it's her own song, but dang! That was terrible!

  • @Edocsil6437 well read the fucking description you fucking cocksucking bitch with your faggot ass self

  • I remember back when "thin was in". Kim Wilde is and was awesome ...

  • where is east California?

  • @his2dcide East of Indio, say out around Blythe, CA

  • I'm only 15 but I remember hearing this song when I was really little on like nickelodeon during election time and for like the Jimmy Neutron movie haha

so when I heard the disney channel "kids of the future" I felt like I've heard it before and they got so much undeserved credit for the sound and lyrics that mrs wilde should be getting

  • @DinosaurxB OMG that same thing happened to me!!!!!!!

  • Ok which one is the original? I no its diffinately not "No Secret"

  • @snuckles108 This is the original.

  • pretty cool early 80's alternative/ punk beat. Not a bad song.

  • Amazing! Kim Wilde was a huge boyhood crush of mine. This song and video take me back to a better time of stocking up at the 7-11 on junk food and slurpees, then going to my friend's house for an all-nighter of Dungeons & Dragons and MTV, growing up in the 80's kicked so much A**!!

Granted, it all sounds pretty lame for a friday night, but I was only 10 when MTV premiered...oh...I also crushed pretty bad on Martha Quinn (VJ).

    This is so Bitchin'

  • emo creep... smile why dont yta

  • @sucka1for1love EMO???

Yeah, I guess Kim was waaay ahead of her time! Remember this song is not from the mid 2000s, this is from the early 80s, around 82 or 83!

She had the pouty look, hair, eyes and expression down pat!

  • Awesome song. This is from when kids used to actually watch videos on MTV instead of corny reality shows filled with dorks and rejects.

  • Ok, i remember this song from an 80s movie starring darryl hannah and aidan quinn. It was a sports movie or something. She played a cheerleader, and he was a football player.Im not sure of the title though.

  • she's my sister.............

  • I have this vhs tape.

  • i like were the kids of the future better. i mean this is ok... its also old. so if it were more modern i might like it more.

  • @diomondring716 modern shmodern

  • thanks to share it: very clean vid, great quality.A pleasure to hear and a great 80's singer.

  • WOW this video hasnt dated at all haha still a good song though

  • great upload. very clean

  • @panecederstrom Obviously you are trolling for negative comments. Good luck and have a nice day.

  • God I always loved her.

  • 80's rock for me. :P

All covers for this song suck. Original is always better...

  • @XanaduNintendo156 There's only one version that has magic.... Do I even have to say which version? lol

  • why disable embedding?? I wanna put this on my facebook, is it too much to let people embed? i'd never do that to my videos, so why do that here? if anything, it gets more people to your page because they can get the url

  • She's a limey?

  • i like the song

  • yeah she is british like me :D

  • She sounds like a brittish singer.

    Am i correct?

    I am not sure.

  • yes shes british

  • Comment removed

  • Great quality. Thanks for posting.

  • She is hot

  • Hey now, what is a retro 80's video without the names and logos in the corner?

  • K Ki Kim Kim W Kim Wi Kim Wil Kim Wild Kim Wilde Kim Wilde R Kim Wilde Ro Kim Wilde Roc Kim Wilde Rock Kim Wilde Rocks Post the same comment if you agree!!!
  • @cp0934 I agree. But I'm not posting the same comment. lol

  • This is on Just Dance for the Wii =D!

  • this was on dance dance revolution

  • everyone says the singer of this song isa boy!

  • @linkrocks. Well, they are wrong. Very wrong! Those same people have never seen what she looks like. If they did, they'd say she is gorgeous, sexy, beautiful, and talented!

  • 0that song is in young voices 2009

  • we the kids in America

  • I really like the background vocals and music. The lead vocals are really good, but I've always felt I couldn't take the chorus seriously.

  • When I first heard this song I kind of felt it had these undertones of apathy and utilitism. Kind of like pointing to a lamp and saying, "That's a lamp." And watching this video now, the singer just has this dead pan look on her face the whole time. the song sounds to me like it's completely synthesized and stripped of any emotion. That's my kind of music. I want to hear a cheer for punk nihilism.

  • she looks really hot in HD

    lol

  • This was a filthy and obscene song. I'm glad you cleaned it up so my kids can listen to it.

  • ha ha ha, this video would be better if she was naked =D

  • Love this tune!! She's like the British answer to Nancy Sinatra.

  • I like this song, but can anyone tell me what the hell it's about?

Also, freakin' hilarious how bored they look in this video!

  • Whats the differerce btw this and the unclean(?) version. And is this better quality than the HD upload of this song

  • This video has been ripped-off from a VHS tape via FireWire cable, then processed with a 'noise-reduction' component. That's why this video has better quality than the "HD version" uploaded in YouTube, since that one is just a 'cheap upscaling' of a low-quality video already uploaded in Internet.

Now, this is a CLEAN version because it doesn't contains any titles with the names of the artist, song, album, etc... over the video- and it has no logos from a TV station as i.e. MTV.

  • Thanks for takıng the time to answer my question. Five months to be exact. Stıll, better late than never and thanks for the upload

  • @Chiro13Videos *groan* MTV, such sellouts!

  • good job man...nice to see someone that knows what there doing on here iam tired of the low quality crap on you tube

  • @Chiro13Videos

A Good Job cleaning it up from VHS, Thanks.

  • @Zarfiswithyou It was a hard work but it looks some people liked it, thanks! :D

  • Thanks for the upload. It's been a long time since I've seen this video.

  • You're just a psych professor though. What do you know? :D

  • Love her blank-faced COOL.

  • jonas bros. are just crap for tween girls. every generation has them.. have you listened to a shaun cassidy album lately? he used to ruin classic songs too. just don't listen to them. they'll be washed up has-beens one day on a "where are they now?" show.

  • What, you mean the Jonas Bros. aren't washed up yet?!?!...I love people who say those idiots do a better job of singing this song then Kim WildeA)if she never sang this song what would you have to compare it too?B)If she never sang this song the Jonas Dweebs would never have a song to RIP OFF!!!..BTW:if you want to see these Dolt's get beat on by Mickey Mouse watch the South Park episode where he does just that!!! it is hilarious!!..good post.

  • jonas ruined this song admit it

    you dont know them either

  • how do you mean CLEAN version-what did u change?

  • A clean version is a video without any TV station logos (as MTV, VH1 or any known music channel), no titles with the song and artist information or any website advertising.

Most of those clean versions come from the original tape, DVD's, copy-tapes saved by TV stations, or promotional VHS released by the music industries.

  • Jonas brothers should of never did a cover, or even become a band.

  • they're a money making machine for Disney corp. and girls aged 7-18 who know nothing about music are the demographic

  • Demographic target? Wow, that's true.

  • WOW!!!finaly someone said what I've been think. Most if not all the Disney kids are NO talent hacks.if you want a good laugh look up the SouthPark episode where the Jonas brothers get the crap kicked out of them by Mickey(ROTFL!!)

  • finally some1 thinks like me

  • I agree. They are ruining music.

  • or ever be born

someone should lock up their parents!

  • sang this on Rock Band/Guitar Hero & got 100% - love it!

  • Great ! Thanks for uploading this clean copy

  • finally, the original one. not all those SUCKISH covers of this song.

especially jonas brothers, they can just die

  • oiy! you dont even know them

  • yea jonas brother ruin all the good songs with their generic Disney corporation sound

  • jonas brothers also redid take on me by aha, they fucked it up majorly.

  • Why? 'Cause Jonas Brothers sing this song and their version are better?

Don't make me hate JB by the fault of some retarded fans.

  • it's not because of that, i don't like this song.

  • Well, at least your reason for saying that is more... reasonable than those Jonas-lovers :B

  • @BabyBluePaper

DEN DONT WATCH DA VIDEO LLOLOLOLOLO

  • I understand you are a fan of Jonas Brothers. But there's no cover better than the original song- and no, this is not an exception of it.

  • A very disrepectful and dissapointed comment incoming from you, surely without this song, the Jonas Brothers wouldn't have any "idea" (after all they just covered the song) for the single who made them famous years later.

I like Jonas Brothers version too, but be careful with saying she can't sing or her version sucks, 'cause who really sucks, are the people who doesn't have any respect for 80's and GOOD music ;D

  • No cover is better than the original!

  • @Stiiiiiiiiiine That's obviously not true. There are many examples of cover versions that are widely acknowledged to be better than the original. Just one example: Jimi Hendrix's version of Bob Dylan's "All Along the Watchtower." As Dylan himself said, "I wrote the song, but Jimi made it his own."

  • @peterat9999 Your example, is one of the, very, few.

99% of the time a cover doesn't match up to the original.

  • @GialloHorror Not true. I don't have time to enumerate lots of examples, but there are plenty of them from performers such as Joe Cocker, CCR, The Byrds, Linda Ronstadt, just to name a few. Go listen to some of their great covers, and I'll be surprised if you don't agree that they are at least as good as the orignal. Of course, it's all a matter of personal taste. But there are lots of folks who would agree w/me. And sometimes the cover is very different but fantastic, e.g., Joe Cocker.

  • @peterat9999 I guess what I'm talking about are covers of 60's, 70's and 80's songs.

In my opinion songs from the 1960's-1980's all had a very distinctive sound, and in my opinion, very rarely, do songs from today match up with songs back then.

Again, it's just my taste, but when I hear a cover of a song from the 80's it makes my stomach turn

  • @GialloHorror Well, I don't think there's been a lot of great rock music produced since the early '70s. So I'm not too keen on the '80s in the first place. Thus, any cover of an '80s song probably doesn't even show up on my radar screen. So I guess we can agree on that at least.

  • @peterat9999 I grew up in the 80's so I am partial to that music. I'm was always a bg fan of New Wave, and Hair Bands etc, but I appreciate music from the 1950's right up through the middle 1990's.

With that said, I do think a lot of 80's covers sucked. Kim Wilde did a cover of a Supremes song in 1987, and David Lee Roth's "California Girls" paled in comparison to The Beach Boys' version.

Sounds like we can agree on a lot bro

  • About the time I started having girlfriends and a car- lol

What a great time to be a kid in the suburbs.

    Love the synthesizer organ deal.

  • Great song! Really catchy chorus!

    LALALALALALAAAA!

  • Be careful with calling shit to the ORIGINAL SONG... actually i like Jonas Brothers version, but you can't deny the best music comes from the 80's so- shut your mouth up dude!

  • The Jonas brother fail to capture the rowdy attitude of this song. Their version sounds too slick, too polished.

  • Anything the Jonas Brothers do is unoriginal and shit.
