The push at 0:30 is not fake. When you timed your pull and release right, this is the effect on the opponent. I have seen class where the students are learning this move. The students practice on each other, mostly not successful as they are still learning but once a while you can see one able to execute it almost perfectly. It is hard to train but it is possible.
I know that tai ji have a big potentiel of power generation. But on this special movment of 0:30, i have impression that the guy jump after be pushed. How can you explain this ?
@Ostelen If you notice, he was pulled and then pushed. As soon as he was pulled, he tried to regained it by moving his weight forward. But half-way through, his upper body was pushed backwards. His feet tried to stop the backward movement, but his center of gravity was moving backwards too fast. Basicly his center of gravity was manipulated(Aikido also does this).
yes with good tai ji the person will bring about their own downfall, if you've been pushed and lost your centre, when you feet touch the ground there is not much you can do, the human body can be very spring like, i've been bounced away by a Tai ji master, it felt like i hit a big rubber ball, i flew back, rolled and smashed my knee on the ground... that was definitely real!
can you show a tai ji video of yourself to show us that your knowledge isn't just the tai ji computer geek type? sorry to be harsh but so many idiots comment on things they have not even studied. T
if you watch closely at 0:10 you can see exactly what he does, he uses 'An' to take the opponents structure/ center.
There is a Tai ji poem: '...like a bear puts his hands behind a mans back, and takes him down, this is An (An is usually translated as Push) This movement he does at 0:10 is a good example
This is Chen Style Taiji. There are five styles. Yang style is what most people do. This form is called Cannon Fist. It emphasises slow-yin AND fast-yang. it is advanced Taiji, not combined with Karate. Please research.
Unknown to the mass public , Taiji Quan does have a more aggresive and combatan nature but are now preferred for its ligament and body exercises and energy cultivation.
The more agressive nature are now being taught in the United States , Taiwan and Beijing.
Just in case anyone cant realize it, the fight in the beginning is suppose to be choreographed. If those participants want to claim otherwise then that would make them liars, but I'm sure they communicated that it was a choreographed demo. At :0030 the man hops backwards. I liked the demo, it seemed VERY realistic, but I dont think the TaiChi man is suppose to be moving around so much in his body and shaking like a boxer would, should be more centered and still, kinda like a Wing Chun guy.
can no one see that the "the grandmaster" is obviously a fake or someone who is limited in talent the first guy at 33 seconds when he was pushed he delibertly fell further back to make the master look good in real combat tai chi has its flaws lol im not saying its not powerful but bruce lees fighting concept makes so much more sense to use the shortest method to attack the opponent with maximum power.simple but difficult to perfect there should be no form it depends very much on the situation
it's a performance = =... don't you know the difference between a demonstration and real fighting... In a real fight the guy won't punch like that and the master will reply with real power.
The video is a short demo of some Taiji benefits to humans.
The first part is a short demo of one-to-one fight scenerio using Taiji Quan. I think some what you mentioned about Bruce Lee fighting concept is correct, but Chinese martial arts were designed specifically for helping practioners gain a healthier lifestyle rather than insinctly disabling your enenmy.
What really the master in the video tries to show us is Taiji practical benefits to our health, both physically and psychologically.
