En dehors des tragédies de l'humanité, cette scène symbolise l'une des choses les plus tristes au monde : Marilyn Monroe et ce cheval ligoté, deux faces de l'innocence vaincue. Pour rien.
Whoa! She DID lose the breathy voice and finally used her real voice. She usually kept the breathy in every role and off camera in interviews but this is finally her real voice. No trying to be a sexy little ditzy but the real Norma Jean not Marilyn. She was herself in this role. Wow.
Oh, marilyn.. i wish you'd stay alive.. you would of seen how stupid girls behave these days.. it's just not like then. And i must say that i don't like the way it is today.
Wow! I love Marilyn's intensity in this scene. She definitely delivers. Now I am extremely excited about this movie! People keep telling me that is was the "ultimate motion picture." I am starting to see why now. I have to watch it in it's entirety.
miller wrote a collage of tabloid obsceneties of marilyn as character and a prop for all the male characters for the first real cinema actress. you have to really hate women to do something like this.
but when you read miller's plays you can tell he can't write for women at all. eveyr female characer is either a non-flesh angel or a demon. and norma-jean told him so. she even made fun of the title.
@wwerulestna Gable died of a heart attack because he insisted on doing his own stunts. Nobody ever died waiting for somebody to show up on a set. In that case ALL of MM's co-stars would have dropped dead.
israel friend, naomi watts, is going to get to play one of the most dynamic women in showbiz. this is AIPAC's attempt to white-wash miller's crimes against his meal-ticket wife, and a shitty writer that couldn't write for women because like most jewish american men, he hated his mother so much.
a no presence, comedic or musical talent actor. at this point in time, the only qualified actors to play wondeful norma-jean are lohan or lopez.
she isn't the writer, you silly cow. and how would you have delivered the lines? vague and yet harsh criticism certainly is embarrassing.
i hate people who drop words that make them seem like they know what they're talking about, but once the idea is examined what becomes apparent is a poser.
not liking female actor's personalities shouldn't give you the idea that you're talking about the craft of acting. this carries one of the first modern performances, unlike the guys.
Took me years to fully appreciate this fabulous character study. Don't get me wrong - I always loved her performance - but this film's magic grows with repeated viewing.
In this movie Marilyn Monroe revelead all his talent as an dramatic actress ,reciting almost in an another dimension. She seems detached, as if to escape from a reality too unjust. The face is absent, almost lunar, really sad and melancholic.
Marilyn Monroe after Some Like It Hot was the biggest star in the World. A great beauty, natural to the camera, MM had to do a lame 20th film Lets Make Love in order to do another outside 20th studio film and The Misfits was like Some Like It Hot done at UA.
I love this movie and I feel MM's greatest two performances were in Some Like It Hot and a this drama The Misfits. Seen together one is amazed at her range, her artistry.
This was her last movie... she die after finishing this movie.
Strange how sensitive she feels and interpret this scene when rude men are trying very hard to taken away the freedom from a wild horse. She probably felt trapped as well. She is really a very good actor. I love Marilyn.
@xXPinkGoddessXx um i'm bothered by people who would cheat on their spouses? sorry we cant live in lala land where everything is magical and stars cant do wrong like you! cheating is wrong no matter how much this slut is a hero to you
Sorry, but we also can't live in a magical land where one size fits all and whatever you consider wrong applies to everyone else. For you to be bothered by cheating in a situation where the man's wife is NOT makes you a busybody. And for you to blame a woman who had nothing whatsoever to do with their marriage is asinine.
nothing to do with the marriage except coming directly in the middle of it by fuckin 1/2 of the people that make up this 'marriage'? and you seem to know quite a good amount about this couples marriage so does that not make you a busy body? and if you dont think adultry is wrong, then wait til it happens to you and let's see how content you are with it. find a new role model
A marriage exists between two people only and two people only make vows to each other. Marilyn made no promises to either party, so why should she be at fault when a promise is broken? How is it being a busybody to know information that is made public? I let Jackie's actions speak for themselves, I don't impose my own moral agenda on her like you have. And you've just imposed the same agenda on me by acting as though I must feel the exact same way about adultery as you do.
@xXPinkGoddessXx I can't agree that Jackie wasn't bothered somewhat by the affair. What woman/man doesn't get a little hurt. But I think Jackie knew full well what she was getting herself into when she married John. And like Rose Kennedy accepted it.
@PatrickLHawkins Jackie was paid to stay in the marriage. She really was like a common prostitute. It seems she would do anything for money, even steal and marry her sister's fiance'.
MM arguably the most famous woman in the world, the greatest film star for sure starred in this UA movie that was written by her estranged husband Arthur Miller and directed by John Huston. Marilyn Monroe gives a great performance. When the film was released Clark Gable had just died and MM herself was just released from a hospital due to nervous exhaustion and the press was very critical of Her. Seen today the film is brilliant and one of MM's finest performances.
When I saw this scene several years ago on TV, I was so upset by it that I swore I'd never watch this movie again. Even now, I'm only commenting on how I felt about it. I didn't watch the clip. I hate seeing ANY animal mistreated.
If you notice the stallion has a halter on so he doesn't choke. This movie helped pave the way for Mustang Annie and her crusade to stop the abuse on the wild horses of this country.
i saw a comment you left one the misfits. it was about 3 weeks ago. you said its terrible. i disagree big time. if you new each character as in presonaly. for example marilyn. she acts superb. think of an other actress who could of made it better. she plays a senstive, depressed women seeking for love. which in her personal life it was true and you see her depression in the film. its suberb!!

There have been stars in Hollywood before or since but none to Me as great as Marilyn Monroe and her on screen work here is brilliant.
A great actress, Billy Wilder felt she was second only to Garbo.
This film is her best work. Her acting was her best ever and a sign of the more serious route her career would have taken had it not been for her death. rip Marilyn.
This is my favorite Marilyn Monroe film because I personally think that the character Roslyn shows how Marilyn truly was in real life..It was written by Arthur Miller, her husband at the time, and Roslyn was a character inspired by Marilyn. I love every Monroe film that I have seen because I'm a very big fan of hers but I think that this has to be the best movie she has ever been in because shes not having to act like some blonde bimbo, not that I think that of her its just that some people do.
I love Clark Gable in this film. He brought such grace and dignity to it, the last roar of a great and proud lion.
